Pepperwood flat
We had a great stay at Laughing Goat River Retreat! The site was spacious, with plenty of nice, flat spots to choose from for our tents. The river was a little low during our visit, but we were able to find a great spot just upstream where both the kids and adults could cool off and enjoy a good dunk.
Our absolute favorite part of the weekend, though, was Rosie, the farm’s sweet dog. She hung out with us all weekend, and the kids absolutely loved her. She was quiet, well-behaved, and such a fun companion. She even slept outside our tent at night, making us feel like we had our own little furry security guard!
It was a relaxing, fun camping experience, and we’d definitely love to come back. A great spot for families looking to unplug and enjoy some time outdoors.

Tent spot
We had such a great weekend at Laughing Goat River Retreat! The river was pretty low while we were there, but we walked a little way upstream and found a perfect spot where both the kids and adults could enjoy the water.
The hosts were awesome. They showed us where to park, blew giant bubbles to keep the kids entertained while we got camp set up, let the kids play on the trampoline throughout the weekend, and even invited us to use their pool. They were super friendly and easy to talk to but never intrusive.
One of the unexpected highlights of the trip was their dog, Rosie. She basically adopted us for the weekend! She happily hung out with us, followed us around the property, and even slept outside our tent at night, making sure any late-night critters stayed away. She was incredibly sweet and well behaved, and our kids absolutely loved having her around.
We'd definitely come back and would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing, family-friendly camping trip.

Volkswagen Camper Experience
I want to start by saying, I'm a self proclaimed "indoor cat" so I wasn't sure how you'd experience was going to go for me, but I can happily say I didn't die and would absolutely stay here again! Andrew and his family were super sweet and welcoming! Shout out to their older dog, Gracie, for keeping watch over us at night! We hadva lovely time and really enjoyed the property! Come prepared with river shoes, Its a few feet away from the site! There is a near(but not too near) port-a-potty and hand washing station. For showers, I recommend the Bear Creek campgrounds just up the road(coin operated!)
What a special place! The site was right on the river surrounded by beautiful trees. The walk to the waterfall and nearby swimming holes were great. The hosts are a lovely family that really went out of their way to make it special for us all and especially for my young nephews who were in absolute heaven here. Thank you for sharing this magical space with us and providing such beautiful memories for our family ❤️
This place is heaven on earth in the hosts are awesome. The camp sites and the Westfalia set right on the Van Duzan river and are in a really pretty and private stretch of it. I took my dog and she had an awesome time and I didn’t have to worry about other people being around. The Westfalia was also really fun to camp in and was super comfortable. The house are also really nice and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend staying here and absolutely loved it.
Our family stayed 3 days and 2 nights at Laughing Goat River Retreat. We had a fabulous time! Andy was easy to communicate with and promptly answered all our questions.
During the day we went kayaking on the river and climbed to see the waterfall. At night we'd build a roaring camp fire and watch the stars.

We loved camping on Andrew’s property! It was so beautiful and quiet. Andrew was there to greet us and show us around. His little dog Gucci even spent the evening with us. This property is highly recommended!!!! We wish we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy the private river and hike up to the waterfall! And we are honored to be Andrew’s first hip campers!
