The Strawhouse Café is a unique and charming straw-bale building, constructed from 575 bales of rice straw. Don Ellis began this remarkable project in 1998, and the café proudly opened its doors in May 2021. Our 30′ Pacific Yurt is a place of tranquility and fun in the round. The clawfoot tub invites you to relax while you enjoy classical or nature music in the background. The loft is an intimate place to read, relax, or just watch the stars at night. The yurt is outfitted with bamboo flooring, heating and air conditioning, an electric fireplace in the bedroom area, air fryer, induction plate, microwave oven, small refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster oven, clawfoot tub and shower, a queen bed downstairs, queen bed in loft, ottoman that makes into a twin bed, and a large deck area. You have private river access located across the street next to the Strawhouse Cafe’. We are located in Northern California, surrounded by the gorgeous Trinity Alps Wilderness area and right on the stunning Trinity River. Hiking, fishing, bird watching, and white-water rafting abound! Check-in time is between 3 pm and 7 pm.

Accommodates 2 people. One queen bed/1 bath. Set upon the hill with a seasonal creek running alongside the pathway, the Creekside Cottage is a cozy space that is connected to the Suncrest House. Sleeps two (one queen-size bed) and is pet-friendly. Bathroom has a shower/tub combination and a vessel sink. You must notify Strawhouse if bringing a pet prior to arrival. Pet must be well-behaved and non-destructive. Absolutely no pets with fleas are allowed. Although we love animals, pets are not allowed down by the river's edge on the Strawhouse side of the property out of respect for other guests. There are other local river access areas that you can inquire about in the cafe', and there is a very spacious and beautiful lawn area on our park side that they are free to enjoy, along with lots of beautiful hiking areas nearby. It is required that your pet be on a leash at all times and that you pick up after your pet. Pet fee: $20/pet/night

Located on the sloping hillside across the street from the Strawhouse Cafe', this sunny yellow house will greet you with a warming glow as you enter in. At almost 1,100 square footage, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, heating/ac, a full kitchen, washer/dryer (bring your own detergent or you can request some), and very spacious living and dining room areas, you have plenty of room to enjoy each other's company. Meander down to the Trinity River on the Strawhouse Cafe' side or enjoy the garden and mountain views from your living room. Although it is attached to Creekside Cottage, it does not share any inside spaces. It is one of two of our pet-friendly accommodations (the other being Creekside Cottage next door). Must notify Strawhouse prior to arrival if bringing a pet. Pet must be well-behaved and non-destructive. Absolutely no pets with fleas are allowed. Although we love animals, pets are not allowed down by the river's edge on the Strawhouse side of the property out of respect for other guests. Heavenly Oasis

Creekside Studio (Pet friendly)

What an incredible story this place has. The owners have clearly followed God's creative direction and created a heavenly oasis in the middle of the Trinity Alps. The highlight for sure is rafting down the river, which I didn't have enough time to do. This is def a family camp, stay for a few days kinda place. My studio room was big and clean and had everything I needed microwaving my dinner and a quick breakfast. Although you could happily be fed every meal and drink at the cafe!

We took a road trip around NorCal in a 32' RV. Dawn's site provided a perfectly located stop point for us on 299 with full hookups. The site is easy to get in and out of, everything is meticulously well-maintained. There is a cafe just across the street (walking 1 min) with great coffee (and food) that they roast and distribute themselves. The owners are very welcoming and will help answer any questions you may have. And of course you're right on the Trinity river, so bald eagles and deer crossing river is what you'll get.

Date of Stay: July 26-27, 2024 I recently stayed at Strawhouse Resort near Junction City, California, and had a fantastic experience. The location is absolutely stunning, nestled along the Trinity River with breathtaking views and a peaceful ambiance. The resort offers a great combination of natural beauty and comfortable accommodations. Pros: Scenic Location: The resort's setting by the river is perfect for relaxation and enjoying nature. The views are incredible, and it's a great spot for fishing, swimming, or just lounging by the water. Well-Maintained Grounds: The property is well-kept, with beautiful landscaping and clean facilities. Friendly Staff: The staff were welcoming and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Café and Food: The on-site café served delicious food and coffee, adding to the overall convenience and pleasure of our stay. Cons: Limited Connectivity: Cell service and Wi-Fi can be spotty, which might be a drawback for those who need to stay connected. However, it can also be a blessing for those looking to truly disconnect and unwind. Remote Location: While the seclusion is part of the charm, it also means that you need to come prepared with supplies, as the nearest town is a bit of a drive away. Overall, our stay at Strawhouse Resort was delightful. It’s a perfect getaway for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy some tranquility. We left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and would definitely consider returning in the future.

We camped with our camper in the Strawhouse campground. The coffee shop employee and owner were both very friendly and pleasant to talk to. My latte was delicious and the kids enjoyed their root beer in a bottle. The view of the river was stunning! Highly recommend!

Asking refund for misinformation

Change the description on the website because it is mentioned that there are water and restroom available but they are not available. The campground is for RVs only. We had to go to another campground for which we had to pay. We want to ask Hipcamp for a refund but we don’t know how to do it. Please advise.

30' Yurt in the Trinity Alps

Yurt is very cool, clean and comfortable. The hosts are also incredibly kind. I would only recommend this space for the summertime or days you know it will not be rainy. There isn't much to do outside this location so you'll be limited to hanging in the yurt! You could fit up to 4 people comfortably, but one bed is only accessible by stairs. Other things to note about the yurt itself- no wifi until a couple miles east or west outside of the location, if you plan to cook bring your own pots and pans, if you are staying during a full moon and are sensitive to light at night-bring a night mask as the dome does not have a cover :)

30' Yurt in the Trinity Alps

We were on a road-trip from Seattle to redwood national forest in California and got lucky to find the Yurt available. Our stay was beyond what we expected, the Yurt is lovely and very well maintained. The hosts, Julia and Don are very friendly and accommodating. Stay at the Yurt was the highlight of our trip. It accommodates 4 people and has a all the amenities including Toaster Oven, Induction Plate and a Microwave so you can cook a meal as well. We recommend carrying groceries and general food items as there not many restaurants/stores around. This place is a must visit.

30' Yurt in the Trinity Alps

Staying at the Yurt in the Trinity Alps was an unforgettable experience. The Yurt sits about 50 yards away from the gorgeous Trinity River and was designed and built thoughtfully with an amazing loft in the center with a beautiful plexiglass dome above the bed, perfect for stargazing into the night sky devoid of any light pollution. It also features a gorgeous Claw foot tub. The yurt also comes with amenities like a toaster oven, microwave, hot water heater, mini fridge and a bathroom in the center of the yurt. The owners of the Yurt Julia and Don are some of the most genuinely kind and welcoming people I've ever met. They immediately treated us like family and welcomed us to have dinner with them at the Cafe. They also own and operate the Stawhouse Cafe, right across the street from the yurt campsite, where they specialize in making AMAZING organic Coffee and fresh wood fired pizza! Don roasts all his own beans on site! They also have a great selection of NorCal wines and organic beers to choose from. Who could ask for more? They are both very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and can answer any of your hiking or river rafting queries. They also sell unique local art, jewelry, herbal remedies, and and a lot more unique items at the cafe. Did I mention the cafe was constructed utilizing straw? They don't call it Stawhouse for nothing! I highly recommend staying at the Yurt !
