This property had everything we needed during our visit to the redwoods. The canvas tent was great, the heater worked perfectly, the bed was comfortable and we loved the outdoor shower. Kim was friendly and accommodating with some great suggestions.

This was the best! It feels like you’re actually camping but with a nice comfy bed. The dehumidifier and space heater really do keep you warm. The land is gorgeous and I’d stay here over and over again. It was a great location to do all the redwood and beach exploring that we wanted to do. Kimberly was amazing and offered so much to make our stay more comfortable for us. 10/10.

We booked this campsite as a respit and a way to regroup after 5 days exploring the redwoods up north. I have to say it exceeded all expectations! I was hoping for a clean shower, but didn't expect a heated bathroom and my favorite soap waiting in the shower. (Bathing Culture). This place was full of little details that were all so carefully thought out, from the shower in a redwood tree to the little ferry lights that magically came on at dusk. We somehow ended up being the only ones in the resort on a thursday night and it was magical waking up with the sun shining down on the dew covered grass. Just a beautiful spot and the highest quality experience. Thanks!

Truly one of my favorite stops along my 2 week journey. The tent was cleaner than some of the motels I stayed in and the bed was so cozy. The garden is adorable and the location is fantastic to access some of my favorite beaches and a cute small town. I wish I had planned to stay more than 1 night and would definitely stay here again. 10/10 Kimberly was so kind and helpful too! (can't comment on the shower because I didn't use it but seems like it would be a cool experience in the summer, I would have been too cold in April:)

This camp site is amazing! Tucked back on the hill so you get both shade and sun. Only 100ft (if that to the river). Nice swimming spot even though the currant is a little strong. Can drive straight up to camp site and have truck parked next to tent. All the camp sites are very clean and the Porto potties are the cleanest I have ever seen. Made the stay much better knowing they have clean toilets to use. Lots of privacy, camp site 8 is about 50 yards from site 9, and camp site 10 is all the way down at the end (can’t see them, nor hear them), love this spot!! Tom the property manager was awesome and super friendly. We chatted with him everyday as he came down to check on us and what a great guy. Rachael is also super friendly and has great communication in timely manner. Highly recommend booking this place.

This was our 86 trip in 3.5 years and is im the top 5 for sure. Tom checked in with us upon arrival and each day. The campsites are SO private and close to river. Not only are quiet hours enforced but noise overall the way camping should be. We shared a porta potty with another camp which was extremely clean. Put this campground on your go to list.

We loved tent camping on Site 10 of Rowan’s camp. Directions were clear and easy to follow. Everything is clearly labeled. The area is nice and sandy. It’s right next to the river. Portable toilet was perfectly cleaned and a short, but good distance from the site. Even though it rained, we loved it! Would definitely return again in the summer. We were greeted by Tom on arrival and he checked in on us the next day as well. There is a picnic table here, which is convenient. We were glad we brought our canopies! It’s a beautiful spot.

Noleen and Joeby’s spot has been on our list for a long time and we finally made it!! Despite the weather we had a great time and the hosts were incredibly responsive & helpful - we forgot eggs / potatoes and they went above and beyond to help us — the best hosts we have come across! Campsite # 4 is a solid choice for 3-8 people and it’s tucked away from the other river-side camp spots, semi- secluded. The bathroom/ spigot for water is a little uphill walk but we had a free vehicle to ride in to fill up our 7 gallon water jugs, which made it easier!! We brought our own pop up / toilet because we have a little one who’s in potty trading (a little tricky with the pack in /pack out rule, but we had special bags) so, that worked for us. The river is a short walk with multiple easy access points! We will definitely be back!!!

It was exactly what we needed, absolutely loved the window view, and enjoyed the hot stove to keep us warm and cozy. We read books, played board games, and our two dogs were so relaxed so that’s a double win! This place is somewhat secluded, and minutes away from towns which is awesome. Ted and Emily were amazing hosts! Highly recommend!

It was beautiful! Very peaceful. We had a trailer and camped on the river. The sites were very spread out so lots of privacy. Tom the ranch manager came thru daily and helped with anything needed and answered lots of questions on almost anything, from how to pronounce the name of the river to local flower and trees. A great wealth of knowledge. There were lots of dirt roads to ride our e-bikes on which was a lot of fun! We will definitely go back and stay longer next time.

We loved our stay. The campsite itself was simple and well-kept with a nice picnic table and a flat space for our tent. The communal resources, however, were exquisite! There is a communal outdoor kitchen with some basics along with another indoor space with a coffee maker and refrigerator. The bathrooms were very clean as well. Not to mention, the outdoor redwood shower was certainly the highlight of our stay! Tim, one of the owners, visited us to check in and was very kind; he takes a lot of pride in this space. We will 100% be coming back!

There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with this beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! Many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting. It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. The recent Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins. It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

Wondernut Farm

Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

The Fairy Forest

The Fairy Forest is 4 acres of redwood trees one mile from the magical city of Trinidad, CA. People have been camping in our meadow since the 1950's, and I'm happy to carry on the tradition, by opening it up to you. There was a fire on the property in 1901 which left the burnt out hollow stumps which you'll see by the shower. There's one old growth redwood on the property, behind the glampy tent, but everything else in roughly 120 years old. Every year we try to make your glamping experience better and better. This year, we've added an artisan picnic table, built on site, and some solar lights leading to the shower. Outdoor sink and cook space is next on our list! There used to be two campsites on our property, but we closed down one of them to give guests in the glampy tent exclusive usage of the outdoor shower and porta potty. We are also renting out our cabin this year, which has been our home for the last 3 years. There's 10 local beaches to explore in the area, great little restaurants and businesses, and countless trails- including Strawberry Rock, which is right down the street from us. We're 19 miles away from Orick, which is the gateway to Fern Canyon (make a reservation in advance) and all the trails with old growth redwoods. And we're 16 miles from Arcata, a vibrant, colorful and creative city that is home to the first farmer's market in California, which is quite the experience if you find yourself here on a Saturday. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). There's a River Barn to use as a remote space and Turtle Cove for swimming. Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown at 9 AM - Noon. Ancestral land of the Foothill Yokuts tribe. Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. Chef Susan mentors teens at the local highschools and homeschools and loves to share her knowledge about the land. There is a Culinary Classroom, Upper Deck and Gardens to enjoy. If you have teenagers, they love it here! 1/2 Basketball court, cooking and foraging classes. Accommodations 1. The Enchanted Meadow Love Shack (sleeps 3) (190 square feet) 1 King Bed and 1 twin. It's about 200 feet from main farm house and traditional bathroom. The path to and from this unit is steep and a dirt path with many stairs. If you have a 4 wheel drive you can drive right up to the unit. Bring your own sleeping bag or sleeping gear. 2. The Love Shack Tree House and Tent site (sleeps 2) 1 queen bed and balcony that overlooks garden. There is a tree growing inside this unit. There are table and chairs so you can cook on the balcony or the bbq area about 30 feet from unit. So cool! Bathroom and cool shower are 50 feet down a dirt path. Additionally, there is an area to pitch a tent. For example if a family of 4 wanted to split up and 2 in treehouse, 2 in the tent area. There is an additional $18 per guest if you want to use the campsite in addition. Please bring your own sleeping bag or sleeping gear. 3. The Sunrise Suite (sleeps 2) 1 loft twin bed (must climb a ladder ) and 1 couch futon. There an area in front of the unit for 2 people to eat and sit. Common bathroom and shower are 20 feet away. 4. Enchanted Meadow with 3 Serenity Tent sites (max capacity 6) This beautiful spot is great for groups, couples and families. To access this serene, private, nature-rich area, be prepared to walk down a steep path. It only takes 5 minutes to walk down which is the easier part. Walking back up the trail you may feel winded since we are at 2,250 elevation. Best to pack a backpack with your gear if you don't want to make too many trips back and forth to your car unless it's part of your workout :) . There is an activity Teepee / Tipi and we encourage you to participate in the writing, arts and crafts projects! We have wildlife and bears may visit if you have accessible food. So bear-proof your food if at campsite or best to leave in car or farmhouse kitchen. When available, farm-fresh meals can be ordered and delivered to campsites. Otherwise you can prepare cooked meals up near main farmhouse. Other guests may be passing through on the nature trail during your stay but you have the ability to reserve the area as "Private" so no other guests will be visiting. $150/night for the 3 sites or $200/night to block off the entire meadow area for privacy. 5. The Big Deck Experience! (sleeps 2-4 adults. No children due to the height of deck and hot/cold tub) Enjoy breathtaking views of the Sierras, valley and forest from the balcony. Couch turns into a comfortable bed for 2. For additional adults, you need to bring sleeping pads for on the deck. Enjoy meals at 1 or both of the large dining tables. Play the gong and do some sound healing! This space is part of the main farmhouse (owner's residence) and has a beautiful 75 x 15 foot redwood deck with views of the Sierras. This area can be blocked off for privacy from 7pm-10am. At 10 some other guests may come to the area for brunch. Manager and 2 other guests live in the main farmhouse, so this area is considered "semi-private" Other guests may access deck during the day (this is negotiable depending on situation) $ 225/night includes up to 4 adults and 1 Farm-fresh Happy Hour. Sample appetizers and beverages from the farm! Upper Deck/Balcony: If not reserved for a private party, you may enjoy the gongs, meals and play a game in the shaded sitting areas. There are 2 large tables for dining and a couch that seats 8 for relaxing. When not raining we have a rug out for yoga. Deck overlooks the organic demonstration gardens and fruit orchard. If available, you can book an educational or foraging tour with one of the farm volunteers. Fresh chicken eggs are usually available for purchase. Garden Goddess Farm is a great place for kids and adults to learn about nature, cooking, culinary arts, foraging, growing your own food, medicinal / culinary herbs and sustainable living. Manager, Chef Susan-Executive Director of the Honey Bee Foundation, is usually on-site is available to prepare meals. She graduated from UC Berkeley, is a Master Gardener and has additional certifications in Creating Sustainable Communities and Permaculture Design. She mentors teens in the culinary arts and entrepreneurship and is the author of 2 books available on Amazon. Nopales-No Problema - The Joy of Cooking with Cactus and Recipes from the Garden Goddesses for Cuisine, Health and Beauty.
