2 nights at Stargazer Cabin

Everything about Mikael’s stargazers cabin was beyond expectation. You enter the magical space and immediately feel like you are in your own little world. You can see how much thought and love went into creating a tranquil and beautiful oasis in the desert. Mikael himself was also above and beyond with great recommendations and cheerful demeanor. I truly appreciate his ability to create such an idyllic space and his willingness to share it with strangers.

2 nights at Cozy Retreat in Joshua Tree

Jessica's cabin was IDEAL. Completely as described, if not better. Communication was easy and consistent, the cabin offered clean, comfortable accomodations (wow the pillows!), quiet, stars, and blue blue desert sky. Completely a 5 star stay.

For sure we can coming back to Mikael's place, great customer service, is a perfect place for a couples, but if ypu have kids they will have a blast. Plus his recommendations were really helpful and uff the aki sushi that he recommend to me were awesome.and the price pretty reasonable. The workers are not so friendly hahaha but worth it on food , price and fast service.

Words can’t begin to describe how amazing this HipCamp experience was for me and my girlfriend. Such a beautiful location with complete privacy and breathtaking views. The cabin was so cool and unique yet provided everything we needed for a comfy stay (and much more!) The property is set up very thoughtfully and the wide open views of the desert were amazing. The deck area with the hot-tub and patio was perfect for relaxing after our desert adventures during our J-Tree vacation. The stargazing was just incredible. This is the perfect place to relax and disconnect from the everyday life stuff while enjoying the amazing desert magic of J-tree. The super quiet surroundings made for such a relaxing and zen vibe. I could go on-and-on but you should just get out there and experience this magical spot for yourself! So grateful to our amazing host for making sure we were comfortable during our stay. Can’t wait till our next visit to the desert and won’t think twice about where to stay 🌵 ✨ 🪐 🙌 ☺️

I love spending time here at this little hideout. I came out for a solo trip for some peace and quiet and thats exactly what I got. It is the perfect size for 1-2 people if you need a little getaway. I will 100% be back

2 nights at The Castle House: Estate

Perfect spot to stay when visiting Joshua Tree National Park. We tent camped in site #2 and had a nice area in the back corner. The property was very clean and well taken care of. They had food service also and we were able to order pizzas and they brought them to us. The bathrooms were just a short walk across the property and the outdoor shower with hot water was amazing!

2 nights at Bowen Ranch Deep Creek Hot Springs

Quiet and beautiful place, the perfect get away, and the hot springs was a trip to never forget, there was quite a bit more people there than we thought but all of them were amazing to talk to and made the trip a whole lot better tbh, most of them are backpackers on the pct trail this time of year (April).

We spent five nights at Serena‘s beautiful cabin paradise. If you’re looking for an immersive desert experience, with comfortable beds, lots of privacy, a hot tub, and easy access to Joshua tree National Park, this is your place. We enjoyed the seclusion, the sunrises, and all the thoughtful touches that Serena provided.

3 nights at The Castle House: Estate

Campsite #2 was great! The structure helped a lot, both with protection from the sun and wind. Because it was tucked into the back corner of the property, and away from the restrooms and pool, it felt more private. Highly recommend it for a unique camping experience!

1 night at Cozy Retreat in Joshua Tree

This cabin exceeded my expectations!! I spent a solo trip up there. Spent the day seeing art for Desert X, I am always blown away with the beauty of the desert along with getting to see some cool art pieces as well! Pappy and Harriet's for a late night show. Spent some time doing yoga at the house and enjoying the solitude. Saw an epic sunset at the Daniel Popper "Transmission" sculpture (6 mins from cabin) Saw the best sunrise ever and saw the beautiful bright moon and many stars. Would 10/10 stay here again and hope to be able to come spend many more moments here. Great host, clean space, as advertised, incredible space for a little desert get away!!

Weekend Trip to The Engels Nest FRESHLY REMODELED!

We had the most wonderful time staying at this beautiful cabin, was very hard to leave! Really did feel like home, so cozy and comfortable. Just a few minutes from some very special spots, such as inspiration point where you can witness a truly spectacular sunset, also the very cool Black Dog Social Club, had a lovely time listening to live music there, sipping on a beer overlooking the lake… just perfect. Thank you to Jodi and family for opening up this unique and beautiful home, we’ll be back! You should book to stay here, you won’t regret it.

Weekend Trip to The Castle House: Estate

Nice place. Looks like they are still building out a bunch of their features and amenities. The “pool” is only 2’ deep and fits max (4) small people. There is only one “pool” for the entire property and (2) toilets. Though the service was a bit slow for the items we ordered from the menu, they came nonetheless.

Had a blast hanging out with the family at the cottage. The remote location was a nice touch.

1 night at Bowen Ranch Deep Creek Hot Springs

I had a great time at Deep Creek Camp. The directions to the camp are exactly as described, so follow them closely. The host I met, Bob, was friendly and helpful. The camp sites had almost no litter. Plenty of picnic tables and no crowds, though it was a weeknight. It’s no more than 5 minute drive to the DC trailhead. Great place to see the stars at night. Lots of squirrels and other rodents around to steal your food. Keep an eye on it.

2 nights at Native Falls Campground

This is a great and safe campground with all the amenities you could ask for, to have a great time. It was perfect for kids and so much to do for them and adults. The staff were so amazing! Each and every one of them was accommodating and very friendly. We will definitely return and try a different experience like a tiny home vs an RV. Wineries are close by; however grocery stores are not so come prepared.

2 nights at Native Falls Campground

Kids had a great time. Lots of things to do at there and hosts were very attentive.

Weekend Trip to High Desert Hot Spring Hideout

Great spot just northeast of LA! Lots of campsites available. We got T-mobile 5G at the campsite. Sinks, water, and toilet were all in working condition. Showers did not work. Definitely planning to go again.

Jessica’s cabin is cute and comfortable! It was the perfect size with plenty of space for comfort. Not too big or not too small! I’ve stayed at a few places in JT and this one is by far one of my favorites. Considering all the amenities, location, and overall comfort I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to visit the area. Bonus points: Comfy bed Great views Privacy Fun off-roading opportunities close by 10/10 kitchen Cute little table outside on the deck

I loved Serina’s cabins they were located in a spot that felt like you were alone in the desert with amazing views and the quiet. However it is under 30 minutes to get to 29 Palms and 12 minutes to Joshua Tree town. We loved staying here.

She has no hook ups but there are battery lights and a clean double bed. Set a while on the dirt porch in the shell back chairs and reflect on life. Shangri-La is family, pet, UFO, and kid friendly. Bring 'em all! You will need to self clean this little slice of heaven. There are supplies in the closet and the outbuildings. You'll BYO sheets and towels to make up the beds and bathe, remember to take everything you brought with you, put back the key, and haul out your own trash. For our winter guests: We have an indoor pellet fireplace which keeps the living room warm, and our bed has a dual-control heating pad (each side can choose their own heat level), and there is a radiant wall heater in the bathroom. There is also central heating for the especially cold nights--please use only when necessary as we are on electric only here and the central heater is not very energy efficient. Our hot tub is designed to stay hot all the time so we always have it set for 100 degrees so it's ready to go when you arrive. Backyard has firepit for cold winter nights to enjoy the stars. We are available through the app or phone any time during your stay and also have local contacts available as well for any on-site emergencies. We're located in Johnson Valley, just about 5 minutes to King of the Hammers/Johnson Valley OHV area, 17 minutes to the Integratron, 18 minutes to La Copine Restaurant, 35 minutes to downtown Joshua Tree, 40 min to Joshua Tree Park West entrance, 45 min to Big Bear. There is doggie daycare for $18/day at Blue Barn Ranch or $30/day at Joshua Tree Pet Resort. We have real marble floors and ask you ensure your dogs have trimmed nails before they arrive that will not scratch them. Please note our property is not fenced. We have a neighbor that walks by each morning with 2 large and friendly dogs around 6:30-7am. There are coyotes and other wild animals that can be in the area so dogs should never be let out alone after dark. We do have a compact washer/dryer and only give access only for stays 5 or more nights. Please keep in mind we are on hauled water and usage should be within reason. OUTDOOR AMENITIES: We have a sitting area with wood firepit. Please note we do not provide firewood--they can be purchased at any local grocery store. If we have some there you are welcome to use it, but we don’t guarantee we will supply it or replenish if it runs out during your stay. If you are coming for a long stay and would like a lot of firewood, our neighbor can give you a quote to deliver. HOT TUB: No glass around or in hot tub, we have plastic cups provided. Please place hot tub cover on wood surround or rocks below, not on the ground/dirt. Please rinse off in the shower and wipe dirt/sand off your feet before entering hot tub. All 4 buckles on the cover and extra sandbags must be secured when not in use—it gets very windy here and the cover could easily blow away. Hot tub can be used any time, but please respect our neighbors and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. ***Please note our hot tub gets serviced weekly on Fridays*** TV/INTERNET: We have a Roku TV with basic live channels as well as typical smart apps. Our wifi is 25 down/5 up and we typically actually get those speeds or a bit more on our tri-band mesh network with coverage both inside and outside the house. I have been able to watch streaming TV plus use my laptop to work at the same time without any issues. However please note when it gets especially windy, the internet can go in and out. DESERT/CABIN STUFF TO CONSIDER!! Please be aware we are in the actual desert! We have lots of nature around us and you will see some bugs and critters during your stay. We recommend keeping door closed at all times whenever possible to prevent bugs from getting in. During the summer there are lots of flies--if you leave doors open they will get inside. We have eco-friendly bug spray provided. In order to reach the house you'll need to drive about a mile down a dirt road. It's generally well-maintained and easy to drive, any type of car should be able to drive it (including regular sedans, etc.). However if there's heavy rain, it's possible it could be too muddy for 2-wheel drive vehicles. I have been able to get here without a problem in my 2WD SUV in the rain and even snow, but we are at the mercy of Mother Nature! Due to their age and not having screens, the windows are not to be opened (they are difficult to close and require multiple people and possibly tools to close them, tons of bugs go inside if left open, etc.). You can run the A/C on fan only if you want air circulation without A/C, but guests are not permitted to open them. We are on a water tank which means you need to be aware of willing to be conscious of your water use. Due to being on hauled water and septic and high electric costs, absolutely no filling up, emptying, or hooking up power of RVs, electric cars, trailers, etc. We have plenty of room if you want to park them on our property. We have two partially buried storage containers which we have created a barrier edge around the top, but guests need to be very cautious around the edges as there is a steep drop off on the other side of the barrier. In general guests need to take extreme care if choosing to walk around the yard as there may be steps and inclines that may be dangerous to walk on. There are animals and sharp desert plants on the property which could be dangerous to pets, children, or even adults. Guests exploring the property or letting their children/pets wander around the property do so at their own risk. If you drive off of the gravel areas of the driveway, you could get stuck in the sand, especially if your car does not have 4-wheel drive. We recommend to only drive and park on the areas with the gray rocks. As we are in an area where water is an especially precious resource, please be mindful of running the dishwasher or washing machine only when it's full, and if possible at night when the energy costs are lower. No electric car charging--if you charge your car or use any energy heavy equipment you will be charged an additional $50/day, or for actual cost of the extra usage above our average daily use, whichever is higher. This is a high fire hazard area, use of the firepit or smoking outside must be done with extreme care. Any fires in the firepit and cigarette butts must be fully extinguished and cannot be left unattended. Sometimes during high winds the county prohibits fires. It can get quite windy is this area, so we do not recommend leaving anything outside that could blow away or get knocked over. For this reason no inside furniture or linens can go outside at any time. Outdoor blankets must be taken with you when you go back inside. When it's especially windy power and/or internet can go in and out. Some carriers get service at our house, but the most reliable method is to turn your phone into airplane mode and connect to the wifi. In the Summer: A/C should be turned off or left at 78 when leaving the house for extended periods of time. Door should always be closed when A/C is on. In the Winter: Heating should be turned off or left at 65 when leaving the house for extended periods of time. Door should always be closed when heating is on.

There are no homes visible -- and immediately adjacent to your camping spot, you'll find the trails of the San Bernardino National Forest, winding through hundreds of square miles of pure nature. This property is quiet night and day, the perfect break from harried city life. The only sounds you're likely to hear are wind through the trees, and birds which glide from tree to tree. In the Summer, Big Bear Valley offers countless hiking trails, boating and fishing in the lake, mountain and road biking, horseback riding, golf, ziplining, the zoo, and many other outdoor activities. It's one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) and features scores of steep, challenging peaks, which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west, to huge Yucca forests in the east. 11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Mojave rivers offer premier wild trout streams such as Bear Creek, accessible only by foot. Hundreds of miles of unpaved National Forest roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable (11 Difficults, six Most Difficults). The Cabin is right in the middle of the major routes. After a day here, you may find it hard to believe that you're just 100 miles (and perhaps a century) away from Downtown Los Angeles. When the snow falls, a cozy cabin is the perfect base for a ski getaway at local ski resorts like Bear Mountain. The spring and fall seasons are typically less busy and have more variable weather, meaning you’ll likely have an easier time finding an available cabin, as long as you don’t mind a chance of rain or early- or late-season snow. Look for a cabin near the town of Big Bear Lake, on the south shore, if you want to be close to lakefront amenities, or consider the smaller Green Valley Lake just to the west, where more cabins can be found.
