'Whispering Pines' was bought about 35 years ago as our dream retirement home, a place to rest, have a quiet life, enjoy nature and have a peaceful retirement for ever and ever...In past years we have been a family camp. and an event camp with camping festivals, special events, and day visits. Now we welcome visitors who are looking for a casual, rustic, laid back experience with nature in a simple, peaceful setting.
Nature is allowed to thrive on our property, and the entire property is forested and wild. The majority of our campsites are shaded under a verdant and lush canopy. Our private beach and small lake welcome you for a swim.
All we ask of our visitors is: that whatever you bring in you take home with you, that you leave your campsite and the property the way you found it, and the only thing you take from here are pictures and happy memories.
All of our campsites are off-grid, un-serviced, drive-in camping. Campfire wood and recycling facilities are available on site. Maintained outhouses are available throughout the property. There is no potable water on the property so please bring your own drinking and cooking water.
Children under 12 can camp for free. When booking a campsite please only include any guests over 12 years of age in your guest count. Children under 12 do not need to be included in your booking.
Contact us to inquire about large group and event rates. We host LARPing weekends twice a month. We also have a limited number of seasonal sites available from June to September.
I love this property and all the people who visit us, many have become extended family and for this I am grateful. There is nothing nicer than to have people drop by and spend a couple of hours, a day or a weekend, sometime when I get real lucky it's for a longer period of time :-)

The terrain is mostly flat but interesting. Campsites are private with good separation from each other. ALL sites have 2 car parking, a picnic table, fire pit and covered wood for purchase. Campfires are permitted according to our approved burn plan before midnight.
5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.

The ‘Long Point Birding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales. With over 400 species of birds observed, Long Point looms large as one of the most exciting places on the continent to observe our rich birdlife.

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community.
It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night.
The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead.
There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company.
Here is what the land offers:
-Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023
-Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table
-Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River.

The Point...
The main shared area "The Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ, kayaks and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. The Point offers a large picnic table, a propane BBQ, comfortable seating, a large rock perfect for sunbathing, and a river view. It's an ideal spot for swimming and launching canoes, kayaks, or paddle-board river excursions, thanks to its shallow entry and rocky bottom. Adventurous visitors might choose to paddle upriver, around an island, and return through the remaining historic canal. For a more strenuous workout, consider paddling up the canal to the Grenville lighthouse and then drifting all the way back to camp with the river's current. Our Farm is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, so most of the landscape is a rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded. Throughout the property are numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugar bush, pasture area, 3 season pond, and our farm animal "homes". These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers and plants, see and hear song birds, small animal wildlife and of course, farm life too.
We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution.
Our varied collection of farm animals includes; lots of chickens, (including roosters who DO crow in the early morning hours), miniature goats, horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog.
During your stay with us you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life, if you so desire, and farm fresh eggs, maple syrup, local honey, and homemade baked goods, are also available to purchase too. (check out our "Extras" Section at booking page.

Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community.
Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie.
Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. Use of a kid's swingset and olympic trampoline. Swimming and fishing.

1 Bunkie on a hill overlooking the pond and 2 private tent sites, one at Boot Hill and one in the Field of Dreams. Each site has a fire pit and a compostable toilet and there is a compostable toilet in an outhouse on the property for the bunkie.
Great for canoes, kayaks, bird and wildlife watching with spectacular star gazing.
This property was part of an old homestead and as such I am still finding things so please respect the caution tape. Some finds are treasures (European Grapes, Bergamot, French Roses, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Ramps, Fiddle-heads) and others not so much. I am re purposing what I can and collecting the rest for disposal as I nurture this land back to what it was meant to be, paradise. There is an outdoor shower available as well. If you are green minded you are welcome here!

I loved the spot and the vibe! such piece of mind. Extremely quiet, right on the water, secluded from other sites (we ve got #3). Kelly came to check upon us once, so we had a chance to express our excitement. Our dog was the happiest, stayed in the water 24 h :) bugs are there (ofc) but only just before darkness. Loved the area and the conditions of the sites are exceptional. Definitely coming back! Thanks Kelly!

We had a fantastic stay at Camp Saulaine. The beach and the stream were the highlights of our trip. beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing. the campsite was clean, quiet, and well maintained, making it an ideal place to enjoy nature.
marcin was an excellent host. He was friendly, welcoming, he also made sure the tap water was clean and safe for guests to use, which we really appreciated. His attention to detail and hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable.
we had an unforgettable camping trip and would definitely return. Highly recommend Camp Saulaine and Marcin to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

We had an amazing stay at this campsite and would definitely come back! The site was spacious, private, and very well maintained. One of our favorite parts was the beautiful river flowing right behind the campsite—it made the whole experience peaceful and relaxing.
The location is excellent, with plenty of space to enjoy nature while still feeling comfortable. The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, making everything easy from booking to check-out.
Overall, we had a fantastic time with our group and highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a quiet, private, and scenic getaway. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We brought our little ALiner Camper, our dining shelter, and small tent.
Kirk is very accommodating: delivering wood directly to our site; maintains very clean backhouse(s); picnic tables are in good shape; grass is well kept; when we needed to leave for work quite early- Kirk made sure the showers were ready; and his layout provides generous space for campers.
We found him to be an amicable host, but also respectful of privacy.
The pond is wonderful, clean and bigger than photos can show.

We had another great stay at Coutts farm this year. Rolling hills to one side, 3 mile lake to the other and the sites are set far apart and private. Lisa is the best host!!

Beautiful place! We had tons of fun at the beach and the lake is nice and refreshing. We had the Bach to ourselves on both days! Our campsite was very private. The wind in the pines was peaceful. There is a nice park for kids to play. Eileen was nice and accommodating. Will definitely visit again! One suggestion: it would be nice if all campsites had picnic tables.

Kirk has so much beautiful land and is very accomodating! There are kayaks and a badminton / volleyball net on the property. Kirk also performs a security check, makes himself available, and is overall very kind! Only thing to be aware of are fire ants in the grass!

Our recent stay at Lisa’s farm was nothing short of spectacular! My wife, our 18-month-old son, and I had an amazing time exploring this beautiful location. The privacy offered during the week was a highlight; although there are multiple sites arranged in a line, the spacing between them ensured we felt completely secluded, even when enjoying the beach.
The site itself was impeccably clean and well-maintained, providing plenty of shade throughout the day, which was perfect for keeping our little one comfortable. We were delighted by the abundance of wildlife around the farm, adding to the charm and serenity of our stay. The toilets were conveniently located, and the water was incredibly clear, calm, and peaceful—a perfect spot for relaxation.
One thing to note is that the slope down to the beach can be a bit steep for younger kids. Lisa is aware of this and is working to improve accessibility with ropes to assist with getting up and down. Just keep this in mind when planning your visit, but it’s still absolutely worth it!
Lisa was an outstanding host. She was extremely accommodating and quick to respond to all of our messages, making our experience even more enjoyable.
We’ll definitely be returning in the future, and I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway. I’ll be posting some pictures soon so you can see the beauty of this place for yourself!

One of the few campgrounds where the river is not too deep for the children. Plenty of places to take a dip. Lots of little fish and crayfish to keep the little ones entertained.
Host lives nearby so you can contact him anytime.
The site we had(Riverbend, I believe) was far from others and felt very private. No adjacent campers nearby.
Less than 5 min drive to Harriston if you need anything from a grocery store(Foodland). Palmerston is about 10 to 15 mins if you want an alternative(Food Basics). There are also farms nearby as you drive if you want to buy certain items such as eggs, fruits and firewood. Host sells firewood right to your site @10 dollars a bag.
Being close to town, we were able to drive for the Farmers Market at Palmerston which is open on Saturdays and there was a fundraiser dinner from another town. Lots of activities from the different towns nearby. People were lovely.

My family and I loved camping at Josh’s farm. We arrived at night and needed help. Josh came to help us get set up. He constantly checked in on us and borrowed us some gear.
