We had a fantastic time at Erik's and wish we had more time to stay. Read the directions carefully when entering the lot as the road in does not look travelled often and you may find yourself at someone else's cottage. The lot was huge, very private from vehicle and foot traffics, lots of space for our dog to roam around. We booked both sites to have full privacy. The dock was excellent for morning coffee and the lake was beautiful. Perfect water to swim in. The wood burning sauna was a very nice addition to our stay, we really enjoyed that. We will definitely return in the future!

Nice spot, pretty private for 2 campsites. Dock needs a ladder for swimming. Sauna was excellent... answered all the questions regarding how well a wood sauna works.
Was nice to be able to take the SUP's across the lake to Mactier where there is a public beach etc.

Amazing spot!
15 ft pop-up camper
We rented both sites for privacy. The location is very private and an amazing property. No neighbors in sight. The outhouse was maintained and clean. The sauna is an awesome amenity and both sites are equipped with fire pit boxes and picnic table.
If you are renting individual sites keep in mind the dock and sauna are shared and the property has room to park a trailer or RV but there is basically one big driveway shared by both sites. It was tight for turning around with a pop-up trailer but doable. Both sites are beautiful waterside sites suitable for tents.
There is no beach entry. Entry is deep swimming off dock and rocks. It is easy for agile adults to get in and out on the granite rock faces, however if mobility is an issue or you have small children and are set on a beach you may find the terrain difficult and there is no sand or beach.
Erik has a nearby Island property and uses the dock as his landing. He popped through on his way and introduced himself and checked up to make sure everything was going well.
If not familiar with the area it is an extremely convenient location if you need supplies. The town is about 5-10 mins drive from the property. There is a grocery store and LCBO. The nearest gas station is also not far off Lake Joseph Rd on your way in from the 400.

We loved our stay on Erik's land! We booked both sites to enjoy the privacy with our teen kids and dogs. We brought our own boats and launched off from the public boat launch. I think next time we would just rent Erik's canoe and boat for the convenience. The sauna is a nice touch! We pulled in with our 28 foot motorhome towing our utility trailer with generator and a boat. Our load was a little long especially since our boys towed our small boat with their truck. However with the help of our boys we had to do some maneuvering with getting into the right spot to park and getting vehicles situated. It didn't help that we arrived at 11pm and couldn't get a good view of the site. I would organize everything differently next time. Erik provides a wagon to trailer supplies from your vehicle that can be parked in a parking area if you're setting up tents. Our kids slept in tents on site 2 near the fire pit and we parked our motorhome in the open space next to the sauna with the door facing the water and we still had room to turn around. The outhouse was very clean. The fish weren't plentiful in the lake. Didn't have much luck with catching anything but didn't stop us for trying. We enjoyed paddling on our boards and swimming. Surprisingly the lake wasn't too cold for being the 3rd week into September. We found that the lake was very quiet. Noise does travel easily. Hopefully we weren't too loud for the area with our gang! Needless to say would love to return again next year!

Stayed in a tent on Erik's land and it was wonderful. Dark sky for stargazing, gentle lake for a paddle, and undisturbed enough environment to see some wildlife. The sites are thoughtfully prepared with a large firepit, grate for cooking, a picnic table, and a vessel for dispensing water. And you can't beat the additional option to use the sauna then cold plunge into the lake!

Exceptional Private Location!

I’ve camped at many HipCamps and this location by far is one of my new favourites! After a brief trek along a rustic laneway the canopy opened up to what is an amazing private Penninsula. 2 sites are relatively close in proximity and the sauna is shared. We met another great couple of ladies who camped at the other site. Thos is a perfect spot to book for your group if you’re looking for a totally private camping experience. This was a beautiful Muskoka landscape with windswept pines combined with exposed Canadian Shield. The wood burning sauna was a game changer for our camping experience! Eric met us and was very friendly and shared with us all about this incredible gem of a property! Swimming was great with a natural rock formation providing steps to easily get out of the lake. in the beautiful lake enjoyed time on the dock looking out toward a quaint island and a very private bay. Sites include a fire pit with cover and a couple of fireside chairs and logs which were handy for coolers and stools. There was also a hammock to relax lakeside. We also rented the canoe which was fun! Can’t wait to return to this beautiful location again! I highly recommend Erik’s beautiful retreat you too will want to return again and again!

We had a great stay here! The sites are private and clean, nice firepits, with fire tools provided such as tongs, and two chairs. There is a picnic table as well. Plenty of tree cover, so nicely shaded. You're right on the water. Awesome view of the sunset! The water is super calm and it's quite relaxing to sit on the dock in the morning and evening.
Portable toilet was clean and smelled nice.
We stayed in site #2 which is larger and nicer than #1. (The sauna is next to site #2 and feels great after a day of swimming!) The flat tent area in each site is a little small and would only accommodate a 3-4 person tent at most, otherwise it would be on a slope. Trees great for hammocking.
The two campsites are not directly next to each other but are within earshot. However, when you are in the tent and firepit area you can't see the other site.
The lake is surrounded by cottages that you can see and hear. There was a lot of motorboat traffic on the lake, as well as several boaters coming up near our site and hanging out at various times during the day. On Sat. night someone was setting off fireworks just before 11 pm. The late evenings and mornings, however, were quiet and relaxing. You'll hear trains.
Nearby is Mactier beach which is tiny but clean and sandy with water that isn't too cold, and has a floating dock for jumping. Nice for kids. It has a playground and picnic tables, boat dock as well (no launch). In the afternoon there are few people there and it's very nice.

Last minute booking that I wish we had been able to spend more time at. Beautiful and quiet spot. You can't beat the sauna or lake here. I would recommend booking both sites if you're going just for extra privacy, and since we have dogs, it would've given them a bit more room as well. The site we stayed at was private and worked for us, but we felt like we were intruding on the other folks as the sauna is right next to the other site. Dogs loved being so close to the water, and we spent any remaining daylight in the water or sitting on the dock watching a stunning sunset. Would definitely come back and stay here again .

We had a great experience camping at Erik’s property! The lot is very large, and has an incredible amount of waterfront! There are 2 camp sites that are fairly close together- and definitely visible to each other. We rented them both for privacy and had an amazing time! Campsite is located at the end of a private road which gave us a nice secluded feel. The sauna was a nice touch. We loved having the dock, and views of the lake. Bala was a 20min drive and worth the stop :) Erik had extras there like a porta-potty, brand new picnic tables, grills, chairs. We would definitely camp there again! Thanks Erik!

Muskoka Sauna Spa !!!

Eric’s campsite in Muskoka was Fabulous !!!
I booked it for three days and had my Hight school friend meet me there.
We both brought our dogs Rosie & Ruby and they liked it as much as we did.
The site is pretty isolated we had one visit from a lost Fed Ex driver…
The place is beautiful, real Muskoka.. I was awed at how nice everything was.
The dock and rock beside the dock offer easy access to the lake and my dog Rosie insisted on
joining me for every swim. We kept the sauna going for most of the time using deadfall that
we collected. The sauna is so nice. Bake,steam…jump in the lake, repeat.
The sound of train whistles was really nice and old timey. The port potty was maintained and there is a strong box for trash.
Five out of five for Eric and his sauna retreat. A Great time was had by all !!!

This campsite is one of our new favourites. This is a completely private space on a nice little lake. Complete with everything you need for a lovely romantic or family escape. The sauna is a perfect little touch on this space and the dock receives some amazing late morning and afternoon sun for those sun seekers. Erik has made this property a great little off grid escape, and we cannot wait to return.
