We have 4.4 acres of land on a spring fed lake. (Even though it is spring fed the water is warm for swimming.) We are located between Trout Creek and Port Loring on Hwy 522. We have 3 vintage trailers, each with a slightly different experience. Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing. We also have a 4 person paddle boat. Bring water shoes if you have them. The water edge is in it's natural state. The trailers come fully equipped. You need only bring food, bedding and 1 pound propane tanks to use the small barbeque. Our property is off the electric grid. The trailers have fridges and stoves powered by propane and the lights are powered by battery recharged with solar panels. We do not at this time have running water and the toilets are clean outhouses - not stinky and disgusting. We have a couple of small docks and you can fish right from the dock. If you are a bird lover you will enjoy watching the blue heron and hearing the loons and frogs sing at night. This property often experiences spectacular sun sets. We have fire pits, books and board games.

Cranberry Camp is located 6 kms past the village of Pointe au Baril. It’s surrounded by Ontario native forest (the “bush”) and wetlands in the hinterlands of Georgian Bay. We are 3kms from Sturgeon bay Provincial Park (a nice beach!) and 3kms from the Bayfield Inlet public launch on Georgian Bay (visit the iconic pink rocks and windswept trees of Georgian Bay). We help people create healthy homes and buildings and sought fresh air and clean water to host workshops and retreats. The property has a small house, a guest lodge for retreats, 2 lovely and private recreational vehicles (a 24’ Jayco & a 27’ Cougar) as well as a tiny home. All spaces are scent-free, low VOC and no WiFi. Hipcamp sites are on hard-packed dirt/gravel on a driveway that runs parallel to the road in front of the former restaurant. There is a composting toilet. We love to host people getting away from the city or taking exploratory road trips. There is water access near here for canoes, kayaks and other boats. Our secondary highway (ON 529) is fairly quiet and decent for cycling. (It's very quietnorth of the ON529A turn-off!). In the spring and fall there is a nice trail through the woods.

Escape the ordinary in your very own off-grid retreat surrounded by 11 acres of private woodland and rolling granite landscapes! Experience the true "JOMO" lifestyle (Joy of Missing Out) while you disconnect from your current routine + reconnect with nature. You'll be minutes away from surrounding lakes and trails, while perched on a granite rock at the edge of a forest in Ontario's wilderness - north of Muskoka. Off grid amenities include outdoor shower (summer months only) + wood fired sauna! Lake access is just a short drive away at the end of the road. Other Things to Note: Being an authentic off-grid cabin, there are some unconventional methods of doing things such as using a wood stove for heat, foot pump sink, ice cooler, heated rain harvest shower (summer months only) and a composting toilet. You will be doing all this in Ontario’s back country so it is best to be mindful and you may come across wild animals, and crawling critters so be prepared for some adventure! Off-grid living requires a little more work and care than a traditional cottage, however you can feel good knowing that you've invested in a low-carbon, eco-friendly getaway and hopefully you will gain some knowledge and improve your physical well-being from this experience – and if anything at all leave feeling fully relaxed and rejuvenated!

Overview

About

Round Lake Provincial Park is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of nature's splendor, offering visitors a unique blend of tranquility and adventure. With its rich tapestry of Atlantic coastal plain flora and a haven for significant reptile species, the park is a nature enthusiast's paradise. While camping is not available, the park provides ample day-use opportunities for hiking, fishing, and canoeing, inviting you to immerse yourself in its pristine wilderness.

When to go

The best time to visit Round Lake Provincial Park is during the warmer months, from late spring to early fall, when the park's flora is in full bloom and the lakes offer refreshing respite. Winter visits can be challenging due to harsh weather conditions and limited access to some areas of the park.

Know before you go

  • Check for any park advisories or weather conditions before planning your visit to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Remember that camping is not permitted; plan your visit as a day trip to explore the park's natural beauty.
  • Accessibility may vary across different areas of the park; contact the park office for the latest information on accessible facilities.
  • Bring your own water and snacks, as there are no visitor facilities within the park.
  • Respect the park's ecological integrity by staying on designated trails and practicing Leave No Trace principles.
