Tucked away in the heart of Carling Township, this private 44\-acre property offers a peaceful wilderness retreat surrounded by forest, open meadows, exposed Canadian Shield rock and a secluded 10\-acre inland lake\. One of the property’s most memorable features is the broad meadow below the hill\. It faces the neighbouring W\-Ranch and offers sweeping views across the fields and surrounding countryside\. Horses and ranch activity can sometimes be seen in the distance, giving the landscape the peaceful character of the European countryside\. This is an ideal base for guests seeking privacy, open space and nature while remaining close to some of the best destinations in the Georgian Bay area\. ## A Convenient Base for Exploring • Killbear Provincial Park — approximately 15 minutes by car • Parry Sound — approximately 20 minutes by car • Carling Township public boat launch — approximately 8 minutes by car Use of the township boat launch is free for Carling Township residents\. Other visitors should confirm any applicable fees and current township rules\. ## The Property Our 44 acres include a remarkable variety of natural landscapes, each with its own character: • 🌾 A broad meadow with beautiful open views toward W\-Ranch • 🏔️ Exposed Canadian Shield rock formations overlooking the countryside • 🌲 Forest trails leading toward the adjoining Crown land • 🌿 Quiet spaces for morning walks and relaxed afternoons • 🔥 Natural clearings for campfires and stargazing • 🦌 Plenty of space for wildlife watching and outdoor exploration From the elevated Canadian Shield rock and the meadow below, guests can enjoy an unusual combination of rugged Northern Ontario wilderness and peaceful ranch scenery\. The open fields, distant horses and changing evening light create an atmosphere reminiscent of the European countryside\. W\-Ranch is privately owned neighbouring property and is not part of the campsite\. Guests are asked to respect the property boundary and enjoy the ranch views from our land\. Beyond our property boundary are approximately 200 acres of adjoining Crown land, offering additional opportunities for hiking and backcountry exploration\. Guests are responsible for following all applicable Crown land regulations and respecting the natural environment\. ## The Lake A secluded 10\-acre inland lake lies beside the property and is especially beautiful during the spring and fall\. There is no public road or public boat launch directly on the lake, so the setting is normally quiet and undisturbed\. Lake conditions change naturally with the seasons\. During the warmest part of summer—most commonly in July and August—floating aquatic vegetation and duckweed may accumulate along the shoreline closest to the campsite\. When this occurs, the immediate campsite shoreline is not suitable for swimming or launching a boat\. Clearer, more open water can generally be found approximately 150 metres farther along the shoreline\. Guests whose main priority is swimming, paddling or boating should plan to use nearby Killbear Provincial Park or Georgian Bay, where excellent public water\-access options are available\. A 12\-foot aluminum boat with a four\-stroke motor may be available to rent when lake conditions permit\. The rental fee is $60 per day, including fuel\. Please confirm availability and lake conditions before booking the boat\. ## Who This Campsite Is For This property is especially well suited to couples, families and independent outdoor travellers looking for: • Genuine privacy and quiet surroundings • A large natural property to explore • Hiking, wildlife watching and stargazing • Campfires and relaxed time outdoors • Beautiful meadow and ranch views • Convenient access to Killbear Provincial Park, Georgian Bay and Parry Sound This is a natural wilderness property rather than a developed beach or resort\. Guests who appreciate solitude, changing seasonal conditions and an authentic back\-to\-nature experience will feel most at home here\. ## Access and Respect for the Land The lake is bordered by our private property and adjoining Crown land, with no public road or public boat launch directly on the water\. The area is secluded and normally very quiet\. Because Crown land remains publicly accessible, complete exclusivity cannot be guaranteed\. Please treat the lake, forest and surrounding landscape with care, follow Leave No Trace principles and leave the property as you found it\. ## Stay Connected Although the setting feels remote, cell reception is strong throughout most of the property thanks to a nearby tower—giving you peace of mind without sacrificing peace and quiet\.

The spot is remote and gorgeous as described. Cell service was amazing due to the tower right on sight. We were really wanting to swim but the lake is not clearly accessible. Sites were not well marked so we weren’t sure where to go. Often there are sign or numbers to indicate which site is which. At other Hipcamps we have been to there was firewood available but this one didn't have it. We weren’t sure if we should forage for wood or not and wanted to respect the natural system so refrained. It would have been a better experience if there was signage to the different campsites and maybe directions about what amenities to pick up ahead of time and where since we were not at all familiar with the area. There was an outhouse listed but we couldn’t find it until we were on the way out and I don't think I probably would have used it anyway even though I am really tolerant of these things. Swimming was advertised as a big part of this site but was the biggest bummer. It just was not possible due to weedy muddy conditions as far as we were able to explore. A few more touches would make this a better experience. So pretty though. We appreciate being able to spend the night here.

Overall, our experience was great, unfortunately there is really only 1 “campsite” which is the “meadow” campsite. We stayed one night at the “lakeside” and one night at the “Shield” but there wasn’t really any spot to set up our camp so we had to basically make our own spot which just seemed like we could’ve just camped on crown land for free. By the end of our stay we noticed actual maintenance being done so you weren’t walking through super long grass (as we did). The only perks would be that’s there is some electricity depending on where you set up and there is an outhouse. Other than that it just felt like back country camping with our car a little closer.

Amazing Lakeside Tent Spot

Absolutely beautiful spot! Two of us camped at Kun’s lakeside spot and had a great time. The lake was amazing, full of wild life, and very private. I was able to bring a paddle board with me which was very convenient to get to the deeper end of the lake. But Kun also has an inflatable boat available to use which would be perfect as well. I will definitely return here!!

Kun was a wonderful host, gave us a quick tour of the sites and made sure we were settled in. My car battery died while camping and he went above and beyond to help me trouble shoot the issue. The Shield campsite is very much like a backcountry site except for power. Private and surrounded by woods, a shirt walk to a lovely large pond. We saw deer, beaver, partridge. Easily accessible from the main road but my GPS led me to the wrong location initially. Look for the driveway right after the ranch.
