The ultimate Farm Solitude Camping experience for nature lovers seeking adventure, peace and serenity.
This is not a place for parties and loud noise, but if you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park.
Most sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7kms down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves.
All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after.
(Note: The National Park holds its annual wild dog baiting program from the 19th April until 31st October. Baits will be laid approximately 1km from our boundary.)
Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only.
4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. For all 4WD areas please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks.
All sites have toilets, but guests will need their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure.
Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, sometimes it may take a few hours for us to reply.
No motorbikes or chainsaws and no hunting allowed.
WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

There’s plenty of room for mountain bike riding, and bushwalking with many beautiful walking trails.

Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers.
Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others.
For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done.
Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided.
Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart.
As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans.
If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction.

The established green 112 acre equine property has the Watagan Mountains as the backdrop. We are approximately 5 minutes off the M1 Motorway and 1 hour drive north of Sydney.
Whilst on property it’s a buzz of horse life and there are many horses in the paddocks that will be curious to see you and hang over the fence for a nice little scratch. You will notice an abundance of wildlife that will be around; lovely birds, kangaroos and wallabies and if you are lucky the local deer might call in either early mornings or on dusk. Plus of a night time stop and look up into the lovely night sky while listening to the abundance of frogs, crickets and other noises that come alive.
If you are wanting to have a fire you are more then welcome and you can go for a walk about to collect as many pieces of wood on the ground. Don’t forget to collect a good marshmallow stick!
While you are on the property and if you want to be apart of any extra activities you see please don’t hesitate to ask.
If you are wanting to explore and head off property and explore the local area there is an array of things to do some close and some further away. We are 40 minutes out from the heart of Hunter Valley wine country, minutes away from a few local beaches; Norah Head, Catherine Hill Bay, Soldiers Beach or Caves Beach. All have cafes or pubs close. If you are wanting to head to the bush the Watagan Mountains which are our backdrop has endless picnic spots/look outs etc where you can enjoy driving, walking, dirt/push bike tracks or if you have a specific mountain bike buzz you can head to Awaba Mountain Bike trail. Download the National Park App and it will give you all the info.

There are many places to go bushwalking, either following the river or heading up the valleys or hiking up the hills through the trees.
The property is just 10kms from the convenience of Bowraville, a historic township with a supermarket, folk museum, a war museum, a historic theatre, and other historic buildings. Nambucca Heads and the beautiful surrounding beaches are just 27kms east and Coffs Harbour 80kms away.
Please note this is a working farm, so there will be cattle and stock horses on the property that may approach your campsite.

I almost don’t want to write this review because I’d rather keep Robert’s place a secret. It’s tranquil, rustic and incredibly comfortable, with a peaceful atmosphere that helped me slow down and reconnect with nature.
Everything felt authentic and unpretentious, making it easy to relax from the moment I arrived. Whether I was sitting around, enjoying the surroundings, or simply taking in the quiet, it felt like a genuine tonic for the soul.
If you’re looking for luxury, this probably isn’t it. But if you’re after a beautiful, peaceful escape with character and charm, it’s hard to beat. I left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to returning.

My dog and I came for a second visit because I wanted to show my partner and enjoyed it even more than the first time. The weather wasn’t with us but it didn’t matter at all. We had a lovely time at the creek and a great fire with the wood that Victoria carefully prepared and graded for us. The birds were in full chorus in the morning and the drizzling rain and fog through the trees meant a very lazy morning laying in sleeping bags watching the day slowly reveal itself. It felt like we had the land to ourselves and it was a wonderful, rejuvenating, slow camping trip. Thanks go to Victoria again for her warm welcome and joy for life and adventures.

Great amenities, modern and clean bathroom. Lovely kitchen and many toys to keep kids busy. Well equipped kitchen and got everything there. A great place for beginner camper. Love it especially the table tennis!! Can’t wait to go back next time.

What an amazing place to stay.. Very private, surrounded by nature and heaps to do do in the Megalong Valley. Only a short drive into Blackheath/Katoomba/Leura and we prefered being away from the tourist crowds.. Will definately be back.

Amazing camp sites , views , so much space to spread out. The hosts are amazing and nothing is a problem. Will definitely be looking to tell all I know that this property is a must to stay at . I would highly recommend to all. And it comes with hot showers and flushing toilets . 10 stars is not enough . Sincere thanks to Sarah and James for sharing their property with us.

What an amazing place .. camped at the Twin Falls #1 site .. very private nice big fire pit and right next to the river ..chilled at camp and explored the beautiful property .. all sites really are beautiful it just depends what you are looking for …friendly hosts and friendly locals too 🐮… you can really do as little or as much as you like at Mindoo .. only stayed for one night but could of easily stayed longer .. I will be back

Site 2 - Large flat private site. Couple of trees provide shade when needed. I arrived during a full day of rain and the directions worked well, easy entry through the gate and to my grassy site. Due to drought conditions, the rain was very welcomed. I didn't loose traction and didn't require 4x4 on the wet dirt track. Nicely mowed. Lance was easy to communicate with and didn't interrupt my peaceful comfortable stay.

Beautiful spot and great directions, the host was very helpful in providing information before our visit. The grass area was beautiful but unfortunately not suited for the extremely wet weather during our visit, but looking forward to the opportunity to visit again when it’s drier.

We stayed at Site 1. It was sublime. Secluded and by a little creek surrounded by unspoiled bush. We loved it and would go back asap. The drop toilet was great too and Skye was very helpful and good communicator. The $10 bag of firewood was much appreciated

Absolutely loved Mindoo, our favourite Hipcamp by far!
Beautiful spot with a large fire by the creek. The composting toilet was also the nicest, cleanest best smelling camping toilet I have ever used. The pre and post arrival messages with directions and information about our stay were so helpful and felt very welcoming.
Our kids loved climbing over the rocks at the creeks and riding their bikes up and the hills. We will be back!!!
