100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. You are a 40 minute drive from the sea (try the Shoalhaven 100 beach challenge https://www.shoalhaven.com/100-beach-challenge/ ) and just 15km from the historical town of Kangaroo Valley with its myriad of water activities, golf, wine estates, and quaint shopping. ttps://visitkangaroovalley.com.au/see-and-do/

The more adventurous should seek out the swimming holes and bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater. A half-drum BBQ with rustic log seating makes for the perfect evening under the stars. Breakfast at the picnic table overlooking the creek, a billabong with birdlife, and a short walk to the kid's playground, functional tennis court (with a basketball hoop), and the farm shed (with fresh water and free high speed wifi). Enjoy the freedom of 100 acres of grassy open space to yourself while camping amongst the trees. (The closest campsite to you is 200 meters away with ample forests in between giving all the space and privacy you could want) This site is easily accessible by 2wd vehicles unless its been raining heavily or you are towing something heavy (well surfaced but untarred roads into a valley). This large campsite (600 square meters) really is the gem of the Wombat Hollow experience. Nestled on a 90 degree bend of the Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus), surrounded by trees and with as much firewood as you can gather (feel free to bring an electric chainsaw), your day and evening walks are guaranteed to give you sightings of a host of local animals including wallabies, eastern greys and the cute and plentiful wombats. The real stars of the show are the wood fired hot-tub and the creek, with the burbling of the water over the nearby pebbles making the perfect backdrop to your break away. The more adventurous should seek out the 2 very close swimming holes and bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater. A half-drum BBQ makes for the perfect evening under the stars followed by breakfast at the picnic table overlooking the creek. For the kids its a short walk to the playground and trampoline, functional tennis court (with a basketball hoop), and for adults to stay connected the farm shed has free high speed WIFI. The shed also has treated creek water water but this site has a tap with creek water to fill up the hot tub / do your dishes etc. The closest campsite is 160m away from you with ample trees in between giving all the space and privacy you could want on the 100 acres. This site has a steep causeway and some tree roots to get over. I've seen a Toyota Camry make it to the site but if its raining or you are towing something heavy, you would need a 4x4. This is not a good site for long or low slung caravans. Note: You must have your own toilet facilities. This massive campsite is right up against the bubbling Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus). The sound of the water washing over the pebbles is the gem of the Dad's Camp experience. Surrounded by trees and in its own 7 acre paddock, with as much firewood as you can gather, your day and evening walks are guaranteed to give you sightings of a host of local animals including the cute and plentiful wombats. Chatting around the half drum fire on raised logs as the evening stars appear makes for the perfect ending to a day spent in your own private shallow swimming area at this campsite. (bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater at the swimming holes). For the kids its a medium walk to the playground and trampoline, functional tennis court, and for adults to stay connected the farm shed has free high speed WIFI (and potable water). The campsites are all very far apart with the closest site being 200 meters away and ample trees in between giving all the space and privacy you could want on the 100 acres. This site is easily accessible by 2wd vehicles unless there has been a lot of rain (untarred but well surfaced road into a valley) or you are towing a very heavy trailer. A smaller, secluded campsite ideal for a single trailer / family with the best views on the farm set on its own 5 acre paddock. The elevated view of the surrounding escarpments and trees make the perfect backdrop to your early evening sundowners. Your water options include a short walk to the river or a private trail behind the site leading to an often flowing waterfall. Amenities are a half-drum firepit and a large picnic table. (You need to be self sufficient for a toilet). This site is only accessible by 4wd vehicles if you are towing anything as the last 160m is unsealed at 1:10 gradient. The site receives direct sunlight from late morning. On the farm the 3km of creek frontage is the star of the show (keep your eyes open for the platypus) but we also have a billabong with birdlife, a kid's playground, functional tennis court (with a basketball hoop), and the farm shed (with fresh water and high speed wifi). Enjoy the freedom of 100 acres of grassy open space while camping amongst the trees. Opening for Xmas 2025, The T shaped site allows groups to camp with direct and easy access to your own waist deep swimming hole in the Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus) . Surrounded by trees giving total privacy with as much firewood as you can gather (feel free to bring an electric chainsaw), your day and evening walks are guaranteed to give you sightings of a host of local animals including wallabies, eastern greys and the cute and plentiful wombats. The real star of the show is the creek, with the burbling of the water over the nearby pebbles making the perfect backdrop to your break away. The more adventurous should seek out the other two very close swimming holes and bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater. We loved our weekend at Wombat Hollow. We were spoilt having the whole place to ourselves which was ideal as we were looking for quiet downtime. After checking out the whole place we realised that even if all the other camps were full, each camp is in its own secluded spot with lots of space around it and between camps so other campers would not have been a bother at all and we still would have had acres and acres to ourselves. The whole place is well maintained and signposted. Lots of helpful instructions when booking so we knew exactly what to bring and if our vehicle amd camper would be suitable. Vallance is a superb host. The camp sites are perfectly simple. Great fire pit. Sturdy benches, level ground, shade and gorgeous lanscape and wildlife all around. Stunning night skies.

Dad's Camp
What a terrific camping location at Wombat’s Hollow. We were welcomed by Vallance to his lovely property. We stayed at Dads Camp and had a great private area with the river at our doorstep, wombats (as promised) and loads of bird life and the many sounds of the Aussie bush. This Hipcamp will definitely make the “let’s go back again” list.

Picture perfect camp spot tucked away from all the hustle and bustle. Great body of water to swim in. Good mix of shade and sun in the camp are. Nice touch having a picnic bench and fire area with log seating. Vallance was a very hospitable host. He’s happy to have a chat but also respects your space. Unexpectedly picked up my son and I for a little tractor ride which really made it all worth it to stay on private land. We saw wombats, wallabies and a little platypus in the water. Will return again sometime soon.

We had the most amazing family stay at Billabong Camp Ground (even the teenagers enjoyed it!) From the moment we arrived, Vallance, the owner and resident character had us laughing. He’s an absolute gem: welcoming, obliging, full of stories, and just a good bloke to be around. The property itself is beautiful and incredibly tranquil. We swam in the creek, built a little dam, relaxed by the fire, explored the land, and soaked up the peace and quiet. It’s so secluded we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The wildlife was a highlight too, loads of birds, lizards, and we’re pretty sure we spotted a platypus! As for the wombats… well, we reckon Vallance just dug a few random holes to convince us they were everywhere (just kidding – we’re sure they’re out there!)???? All up, Billabong Camp Ground is a wonderful spot to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy nature with the sound of running water and a crackling fire in the background. We can’t recommend it enough. We’ll definitely be back!

I recently stayed at the Wombat Hollows, Riverbend campsite and it was a great experience! The directions were clear, Vallance was very kind & always ready to help during our stay. The location is beautiful, right on a peaceful river. The campsite is clean and well-spaced, offering plenty of privacy. They are also dog friendly, which is great. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway close to nature, Wombat Hollows is a top choice. Just make sure to bring bug spray and reserve early during peak season!

What a fantastic stay we had! Vallance was extremely helpful in the lead up to our trip with instructions and upon arrival greeted us with a tractor ride for the kids (adult too 😅)which they loved! The site was large and well kept, the fire tub was divine. There was plenty for the kids to do from bike rides, swims, adventures , the cubby house, swing and the new addition of the sandpit! We wish we had stayed longer, but we will be back!! Thank you again Vallance.

A great camp site and property. Private site on a running creek, with shade to keep cooler as the weather hots up, but sun if you need it for your panels. Lovely property and the drive in is part of the pleasure - well maintained unsealed road down an escarpment to the property in a wide valley. Close to the increasing number of things to do around Nowra, Berry etc. Large picnic table and bench to watch the creek were appreciated.

It was so peaceful! ☺️ the ground was pretty level so it was super easy to set up camp. The was another family camping there but were so far away we couldn’t see or hear them. So privacy was great. There was so much wildlife around, it was great to see. And as always Vallance’s communication was exceptional.

Our family had an amazing time camping at Wombat Hollow. This was our second visit and whilst we could not set up at the actual camp site due to flooding, Vallance was very accommodating and found us a new site which had amazing views. We loved the fresh eggs brought up by his young daughter and our toddler loved the buggy ride with Vallance. Thanks again, we'll be back.

We had a fantastic stay at Wombat Hollow. The location is stunning with beautiful views of the creek, and the fire-heated hot tub was a real highlight — easy to use and perfect for relaxing. The campsite was very private, which we really appreciated. We brought a 16ft caravan and found the track manageable, but I wouldn’t recommend going bigger — 4WD is definitely a must. Facilities were great: the fire pit was well maintained, and the kids loved the play equipment near the shed — it gave us a reason to take a lovely walk. Our host, Vallance, was amazing. Communication was clear and prompt both before and during the stay, and it was a nice touch that he stopped by to say hello. During our visit, heavy rain caused the creek to flood, leaving us temporarily stuck on the camping side of the causeway — but it turned out to be a blessing, giving us time to slow down, play board games, and enjoy the rain. We absolutely recommend Wombat Hollow — especially for families, couples, or anyone looking for a quiet retreat with a bit of adventure. Just make sure to read the listing carefully — it has everything you need to know to see if this spot is right for you.

We had a lovely long weekend at Dad’s camp, with beautiful open fields, a lovely running river and we could relax around a camp fire. Camps are very well spaced out and great communication from the host. We even got to see a wombat!

We stayed at Dad's Camp site in mid-April. There were no flies for us but there were some traps placed around the campsite. The camp area is located in a large paddock area. The paddock can be very sunny but the campsite is ideally shaded with canopy cover. The fire pit provided is a large half-drum on its side. Easy and convenient to make a fire in there, however, you may be restricted with the size of your fire as the logs arranged surrounding the pit, for seating, is a little close and it can get quite hot being that close. You'll work it out. Access to the creek is barely even a short walk, but there is a little incline/decline to navigate up and down. It's not difficult though. The water is beautiful and suitable to swim in. We spent most of our day down in the water. Walk to the shed is about 5 to 10 minutes and wifi works fine there in case you need it. You can also explore other sections of the creek and other suitable swimming holes in there. The instructions provided by the host were very detailed. Follow them EXACTLY and you can't go wrong. Overall, definitely enjoyed this place. Will come here again and probably give one of the other sites a try.
