Fireflies, Platypus & Hospitality.
What an incredible spot! Willowbank is one of those rare campsites that instantly feels special the moment you arrive. Beautifully maintained, clean, and level — it’s clear how much care and effort goes into keeping this property pristine.
Our site, She Oak, was easily accessible with our 4x4 and camper trailer, and spacious enough to accommodate much larger setups too. The Karuah River is just a short stroll away, with crystal-clear water flowing over gentle rapids — the perfect soundtrack to fall asleep to.
We were lucky enough to catch a brief glimpse of a platypus at dusk, and later in the evening, fireflies danced through camp — absolute magic. Our blue Heeler Luna had the time of her life swimming and playing in the river, and little Daisy, the hosts’ Heeler, quickly stole our hearts.
Ian and Joanne were the kind of hosts you always hope for — friendly, welcoming, and genuinely warm people. The thoughtful little gift on arrival was such a lovely touch — it’s those small 1% details that truly make a place memorable.
Surrounded by lush green fields, rolling hills, and the peaceful flow of the river, Willowbank is pure country serenity. Stroud is only a short drive away if you need supplies, but honestly, once you’re here, you’ll never want to leave.
This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be our last. Huge thanks to Ian and Joanne for sharing their beautiful slice of paradise — we can’t wait to come back.
