This was my first HipCamp booking and was not left disappointed. Chris and Jackie were absolute super hosts! Most adorable couple. They were very accommodating and caring. Just want to thank them for being so kind and generous! 🙏🏼❤️

Weekend Trip to Crystal Spring Camp

As we pulled around the windy gravel road, we came upon a clearing across from the Art Trail. Tucked under tall, fragranced pine trees, we found multiple tiki torches leading to an iron table and chairs, situated beside the fire pit. We decided to tuck our tent under the pines on a ground of needles, next to the cozy wooden bench. The grounds were idyllic, full of birdsong and soft breezes. We found a spot for the hammock to lounge in the shade… and while it was a 90’ day, it was pleasant and cooler under the pines. There is a small active stream a short walk from the camp. The owners of Crystal Spring, Rose and Eric, are quite lovely, helpful, and friendly. They came to greet us with a bouquet of various herbs from their garden. Overall, this was such a sweet little getaway. We will definitely be back soon x

We loved camping here! We had Tent Site #1 which had plenty of room for 6 of us. It was secluded and the water accessibility was so lovely. Literally my only complaints were that the campsite was covered with gravel which my little dog’s feet didn’t love (or my bare feet!), and that there seemed to a very large family that came through to use the grassy area and tent site near the waterfall cabin for day use only, which took away from some of the amenities that paid campers were entitled to. Other than that, we’ll absolutely be back again!

Bullpine was wonderful. We had a lovely spot for the tent and hammock nestled in the trees and our kids could play in the meadow or at the creek and still be within earshot. It exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return.

1 night at The River's Edge

The perfect quick getaway for us. Having a beautiful site on the water was key, and we even decided to stay another night after rolling in. Felt private (little paths you can walk along from the site,) and as adults with a dog, the river access was perfect (handy rope attached to the tree at our river access point.) Sure, there's road sounds, but didn't bother us for the location. The BBQ, firepit, river view table, water, and utensils/pans etc were a bonus. Would definitely visit again.

Weekend Trip to 100 Mile View Camping, Jim Thorpe

Great stay. The host and staff were friendly, and introduced themselves as folks arrived. Wine made by operators was tasty, and reasonably priced. Will be back, and want to bring friends for a multi-site stay. The sites are rustic but excellent for easy going relaxation. The road and trail is quite bumpy - go slow and you’ll be fine. Sedans, drive extra slow. Site 11 is off the main view, but provides nice shade and trees mid-site. We were able to set our dog up nicely so he could move freely around. Wood chips instead of gravel is a nice touch. The fire pits are stone, another nice touch Vs metal rings. Super clean - several times I saw the portas checked, trash collected, etc. Everything felt chill, easy going, but maintained. Expect some later crowds, a lil hooting n hollering, the odd generator kick-on, or some other noises - but otherwise it’s spaced out enough to give that room to still enjoy yourself.

Lovely hosts that made this special place even more magical! The critters were so friendly and clearly well taken care of with lots of love and attention. Got to meet all sorts of baby animals and Paul & Marilyn shared a map with all of the best activities nearby. Great weekend, would highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Camp Dietrich on Bear Creek

This was our second time at Camp Dietrich. We will come back over and over! I can only reiterate how special and well thought out these wonderful campsites are. Scott has made a truly private forest haven here! We are always impressed by how beautifully maintained and well appointed the entire place is. Thanks again Dietrichs!

We tried so many camping sites in the past elsewhere and this one was our favorite! Absolutely magical place and there was nothing else we needed. Site 3 is surrounded by trees,has a creek literally couple feet away,gorgeous bigger creek further on and fantastic peace! We had friends camping for the first time as family and we were so happy we could give them such good quality experience. This is a hidden gem and we will be coming back every year from now on, more researching and dissapointments!

Paul and Marilyn were my ideal hosts, laid back, fun, and totally capable. They welcomed us and gave the lay of the land, then we had privacy to explore and see all the animals! Truly an amazing experience to live beside animals that i can't recommend enough. There's also many amenities for a comfortable stay.

The River's Edge

The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Keen Lake Camping Cottage Resort

Keen Lake Campground and Cottage Resort stands out as a unique destination steeped in rich history, dating back to 1814 when the Keen family first acquired land in what was then known as the Elk Forest tract. The resort office is situated on the original family homestead site, which tragically succumbed to fire in 1832. A fascinating feature of the resort is the gravity coal-mining railway system that once traversed the entire length of the campground. Campsites are thoughtfully arranged along the remnants of this historic rail system, particularly in an area known as Gravity Lane. The trains would have passed by the Movie Lounge and meandered behind the Game Room, crossing over two impressive stone bridges that anchor both the Main Campground and the Trestle Area Campsites. The remnants of the past are evident in the stone dam, constructed in the 1800s to facilitate the movement of canal boats, which has been recently refurbished for structural integrity. In addition to its rail history, the Keen family was also involved in the ice supply industry during the era of the Great Canal. Massive blocks of ice were harvested from the frozen lake and transported via the Gravity railroad to the Hudson Canal in Honesdale, eventually reaching Kingston, New York, where they were sold to

Just north of Scranton lies a recreational dream-come-true. Lackawanna Lake and the surrounding state park offer up adventures of the summer camp variety and then some. The 198-acre lake is great for paddlers and small boats with electric motors. There are yurts and cabins for “camping” plus regular tent and RV sites.

Maybe the best time to visit is during a snowy winter, when you’ll find snowmobile and ski trails, plus a perfect spot for ice fishing and ice skating. Oh, and the sledding hills near the pavillion? We’re talking hours of fun!

When to go

The ideal time to visit Lackawanna State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak. Summer offers warm days perfect for water activities, though it can be crowded. Winters are cold, and some facilities may be closed, so check ahead.
