Lakeside retreat - two thumbs up!
We loved camping at Brent's Lakeside site and would recommend it to anyone looking for a private location with water access and many perks! Brent has a great setup and was very kind and welcoming to our group. Upon arrival, you will drive down a stoned driveway through the woods. We had three vehicles (two SUV's and a FWD minivan) and a popup trailer which had no issues. There is a turnaround and parking area at the end of the driveway where you will unload and also find the toilet setup. The composting toilet and gravity-fed wash station were clean and easy to use. One family leveled and set up their popup up in this area without issues. Our family carried our tents down a short trail to setup directly on the water. There was a very nice picnic table and hammock where we set up our tents. We did the best we could finding a level area large enough for our 8 person tent and two single person tents. I would recommend smaller tents for a level sleeping experience. There is another area adjacent to the picnic table with a very nice fire ring with cooking grate and four Adirondack chairs. Just down another path Brent leaves canoes and a kayak for your use. We just about lived on these on the water fishing (lots of small bass and perch), paddling around, and going out for swims. We would highly recommend this site to others and hope to visit again!

glowing dragonfly fern meadowlake
Brent's place is what you're looking for: 500 acres of fern-filled, mossy, uncleared forest. The big draw is the lake, with super clear water for swimming, 4 canoes and kayaks, a beautiful rugged shore to paddle or swim across to, & a fallen tree growing right out of the water below your campsite... glowing lily pads growing on branches that still shine with new leaves... all glimmering in the last of the sun on reflections dancing in the wind below your campfire.
The site itself is huge, with four areas each the size of a regular campsite. 1) A big tent/picnic table area 2) A firepit ringed by Adirondack chairs 3) A canoe/kayak launch site and 4) A composting toilet structure that is 100% the fanciest forest toilet you will ever find in the woods.
Things to know: the main area of the site is super shaded, under a lot of trees. Perfect for hot weather, cooler in the mornings without sun. There's one great flat spot for a tent, not many more among the roots. (This makes it more wild!) The farthest view across the lake includes a small area of houses spilled out across a lawn (who cares, but you'd probably rather know, admit it). The rope swing is off limits. There are logging trails through the woods... but if you arrive as I did, thinking "logging trail" means "thin goat path," know that it can also mean "vague suggestion of an old path, completely overgrown, def plan on tick spray."
Chase sunset past the boats into the neon dragonfly fern meadow, you won't regret it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here by the lake. Mostly because of the solitude and seclusion! Brent was very accommodating and understanding of my wants. I highly recommend this spot if you want privacy along with basic facilities.

Gorgeous, super private, completely relaxing. The lake is lovely (to look at, to go in, to canoe/kayak on), the grill on the fire pit is great (easy to use, easy to move out of the way), the hammock is super comfy. The compostable toilet set up is great (and much nicer than some other camping set ups at places we have been). We also loved the canoes (one of the kids in our group said after a day that involved canoeing then swimming then fire poking then hammock napping then more canoeing before dinner and smores that is was the best day of his life). Wholeheartedly recommend,
