This property is meticulously maintained! The camp sites are pristinely curated, with great level land, vegetation for separation of sites, and the trail down to the river is well maintained. The river was great for hanging out and cooling off, as well as finding rocks. Each camp site had a fire ring and bucket of water available to dump on the fire when done. Road noise down at sites 5, 6 and 7 is minimal. Very peaceful!

Lovely camping trip here as always! Funny enough site 2 I had cell signal, whereas I don’t when I camp at site 3. Yes this site is closer to the road but it didn’t impact our stay, we slept through the night and had a great time. perfect spot to put up the tent away from the fire pit too.

This site rocks! We went here because our usual camp spots were full. It was beautiful and site 3 is definitely the most private of the camp spots up top. The hosts were very kind and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved going down to the river to hang out and being able to get firewood and ice directly from the hosts without leaving the campground. The portapotty was SUPER clean so don’t worry about that. We really had a blast and will definitely return in the future!

Spent the weekend at James’ little gem of a campground, and had the best time! Site #7 is definitely the most secluded, and we got to fall asleep to the sounds of the river each night. It was super hot this weekend, but this site is the most shady and that was really nice. We lucked out and were the only ones there so had the whole place to ourselves. The porta potty is a short walk from the site, and was genuinely the cleanest one I’ve ever seen. James made a nice trail down to the river that is also just a short walk from the site. Our kiddo loved it there, it has the perfect little swimming hole for children. Not deep enough for us to swim in, but he really enjoyed it! It’s less than 28 miles to Coldwater Lake so we spent an entire day there paddle boarding. James has firewood for sale, which was great. Only paid $20 for 5 bundles. The gas station down the road (5 miles away) was selling them for $6.99 a pop so definitely a better deal buying from James. Him and his wife were super nice and accommodating, and we will definitely be back!

Camp site 7 was very nice and secluded from the other campsites. Plenty of space for everything and a great view of the river. Camp hosts were very nice and we loved that we were able to buy wood when we forgot it. We will definitely be back to this spot in the future!

Nice, clean campsites on a lovely piece of property. The walk back to the river was easy and gorgeous. The host was welcoming and kind. If you’re looking for privacy, this is not the campsite for you.

We loved tent camping at site 6! This is our second time camping along the Toutle River. The River itself is so beautiful and provides great rock hunting and background noise. River access was easy with a newly constructed trail from our site. Porta potty was super clean and stocked. James was helpful with supplies and fun camping toys to purchase for our little one. Generous bundles of firewood! Our site was nice and flat with a fire ring, picnic table, bbq, etc. The only downfall is the nearby drag/motocross track that can get quite loud when events going on. We got used to it but figured worth mentioning. Would definitely come again!!

Creek side camping

This spot is so sweet! The creek is beautiful and the sites are private and perfect for relaxing in nature. The pond wildlife is amazing and the whole property is well kept. The bathrooms are clean and being able to rent portable campfires is an added bonus!

Good Base Camp for Mountain Fun

My family really enjoyed our stay at site #3, and we wish it could have been longer (had to leave early due to a family emergency). It's a great basecamp for exploring Mt. St. Helens, which was our primary focus, and is located just a few minutes down the road from the sediment dam that protects all the communities downriver and the forest learning center which has some cool information and artifacts from the 1980 eruption. Unfortunately we weren't able to get up to the Johnston Ridge Observatory due to a large landslide covering the road, but we're hoping to visit when it reopens, and we'd definitely like to stay at this campground again when the time comes for another St. Helens trip. It came equipped with everything we needed, it felt fairly private, and there was plenty of level ground to pitch our tent. Hearing the river rushing by was really nice and made up for a bit of road noise.

The land was beautiful, and the camp site was clean and stocked with the things we wanted. The river is super close, gorgeous, and pretty easy to get to. The highway being close created some intrusive noise, but I honestly liked that; it's a reminder that you're not TOO deep in the woods. The hosts were gracious, helpful, and expedient. Easy recommendation!

Great campsite! Tucked away from the others and plenty of room for our huge tent. Loved having the picnic table, garbage can, fire ring and water to put it out. River is accessible via a short trail between the other two sites but definitely worth the walk down there. Only about 40 minutes from Coldwater Lake.

Site #7 is the perfect tucked away camping spot! Offers a lot more privacy than the other sites I saw. We loved the picnic table and very clean bathroom! The hosts were very kind and accommodating when we had a late night camping crisis. The lake was beautiful and rocky beach was super fun to play in. Our puppy had the best first camping trip. Would love to come back!

I want to gatekeep this place so bad! It was absolutely perfect for our tent camping. Level site with lots of room to choose where to put our tent. Path to the river was right next to us and even had a privacy fence because of it. Quiet and clean. We will definitely be back!
