Ascent Basecamp

My partner and I had a fantastic time camping at a riverside campsite! The sauna and hot tub were absolutely wonderful, especially after a polar plunge in the river. I would highly recommend this campsite and will definitely be back!

Eric was an excelled host who was very kind helpful. My girlfriend and i brought our three dogs and had a great time. We loved the site. We loved the sauna and the amazing river walks in the morning 🌄

I think this site has a ton of potential and I realize they are still working on building it all out. Since it's still in progress, the van site we chose had a large storage container right up against our site to store things for their continued buildout. It made things a little cramped for us. The 2 van sites are closest to highway 2 so you'll get the most road noise up there. Probably not as big of a deal if you have a camper van. It was pretty loud for the rooftop tent but luckily things quieted down at night. The tent sites are a bit further down and better shielded from the road noise. Overall, it's a nice place and you can see the vision of the owner. I think it'll be pretty awesome once they finish their buildout. We enjoyed the hot tub but the sauna was fantastic.

Great Stay!

Through the Woods

Had a great stay at Ascent Basecamp hearing the murmur of nearby Tye creek (home to native rainbow trout) and enjoying the streamside sauna and hot tub. Highly recommend. Mark G and co are building something special there on the creek (def some construction and refurbishment going on all around).

Friendly host, great amenities

The sauna is adorable and well worth the visit and price. Campsite is well-maintained and hosts are friendly and responsive. Sites themselves are not very private w clear visibility of the first two from the driveway/parking and minimal privacy from neighboring sites. Campsite is very close to the highway - could hear road noise clearly. Luckily we had the whole place to ourselves but might not have stayed for the romantic bday getaway I'd planned if it'd been fuller. Perfectly cute for a local base camp setup. Cute fire pits right on the water and Deception Falls is small but gorgeous right down the road.

Perfect camp trip!

We had a lovely, relaxing time at Ascent Basecamp! The river was tranquil, and having all the tall trees kept it nice and cool during the hot days. We did the add-on for the sauna and hot tub, and they did NOT disappoint! Worth it! Thanks Mark!

Riverside site #5

This site has a lot of potential but we unfortunately did not have a good experience. Here are the problems: 1) Listed as a group site for up to 13 people, yet only one car allowed (???) - are we supposed to all arrive on a bus? This is not a group site. 2) Additional, surprise fees not publicly listed on the site page, that quickly shifted from "per reservation" to "per night" once we arrived, nearly doubling the booking cost. 3) Host asking us for cash/Venmo onsite created an uncomfortable experience - not in line with Hipcamp policy 4) Site was unmaintained, uneven, and full of large rocks and sharp roots that led to damage on our tent footprints 5) The sauna was lovely, but the hot tub was quite unsanitary and only stays hot for the first group of the day. Temper expectations here. All in all, this hosted wanted over $600 for a small group to spend 2 nights sleeping on his dirt. The property has potential, but the host seems more interested in extracting as much cash as possible from his guests rather than providing a quality experience. There is no place for this in the outdoor community.

Awesome site super conveniently located right on highway 2 to access some awesome nature, definitely worth a stop in super easy to find and get into, beautifully maintained sites by cool owners, the hot tub and sauna are actually really cool and the river right there to dip into feels awesome while camping. worth checking out

Mid-Week Moment of Calm

I loved camping at Ascent Basecamp. It was very easy to pull into the Van Site overlooking the river and pop up the top. Mark was very communicative and helpful. I had the place to myself, as it was a Wed, and wandered through the tent sites, which are also VERY lovely. I will come again with a tent and a friend! I saw the hot tub and sauna, which also sound appealing for a subsequent visit, and checked out the lovely outdoor kitchen that was available as well. I hope to come back and make more use of the offerings he provides! The sound of the Tye was soothing at night and coffee in the sunshine on its bank made for a peaceful evening and morning! Thank you, Mark!

We Loved: - SAUNA - friendly host and dog! - clear directions - firewood ready at our fire pit - (fools) gold in the river - very private site, river access - private bathroom with hot (short) shower Didn’t work for us: - 2 people in a suspended tent. It was an experience! We put a mat in the tent for comfort and insulation, which also meant we could only enter/exit out the side. We’re both tall and it was a jump to get in either way. This site is closer to the highway so the noise (and sometimes headlights) is a little more noticeable than the tent sites. - The trek to your fire pit is steep but there is a rope to hang on to. Be organized and you won’t have to go up/down when you forget things! Pack your whimsy and you’ll have a blast!

Personal beach by the river

We Loved: - Friendly host and Dog! - Clear directions - able to have a Campfire - River drowns out most noise - (Fools) gold in the river! - Clean port-o-potty - use of a wheelbarrow to carry things to our site - SAUNA We didn’t mind (but others might): - Site wasn’t numbered/marked. Didn’t have to wait long for the host to show us. - Site 4 was sandy, some shade, and a huge log to drape towels and sit on. - train noise (muffled) - getting down to the river from the sauna was a little trek (the rope was coming loose when we left) - the river is deep enough to sit in some areas - not enough people for the Hot Tub Friday, so they reimburse - we could only get the Sauna to about 113 degrees - Sauna and Hot Tub are only the available certain hours, which the host would try to coordinate with campers Wish we had 2 nights in a row on this site, the sound of the river was so soothing

A MUST!

Through the Woods

My family and I rented both floors of the cabin (Over the River and Through the Woods) over the 4th of July weekend. We are not big outdoor campers, so this was an incredible and unforgettable experience for us. The site was clean and well-maintained. You receive a key to access the bath house, which is shared with the other lodgers. We appreciated that Mark informed when the other party arrived. (P.S. turn off the water when shampooing/washing to maintain hot water and conserve energy!) Mark was communicative both before and throughout our stay, is available on site to answer questions/provide tips about the surrounding area. My favorite part was the communal aspects offered; being one with nature while having opportunities to chat with others sharing the space. I will never forget the rotation of: sauna, dip in river, hot tub. The window of the sauna overlooking the river alone is priceless, but with this rotation, nothing can compare. Can also 100% attest to the powerful river overpowering other campers. It was a restorative, healing trip that I would recommend to anyone and everyone - I know I'll be back!

We stayed at the riverside campsite 4. It had great access to the river and was directly at the end of the trail from the parking lot which made it easy to get our camp gear in and out. Really nice atmosphere and beautiful location. The river drowns out the conversations of your adjacent campsites, giving you more privacy, although you do hear some traffic from the road. The sauna and hot tub were pretty busy the night we were there which made it difficult to find a time to use them.

Paid $95 dollars EXTRA ($40 for 2 people + $15 for a late checkout) to use the amenities—the sauna and hot tub. Wasn't able to use either for more than 7 minutes TOTAL as there was a long line of other campers. Having amenities ONLY avail from 5 pm - 10 pm doesn't allow anyone to use either in the morning or midday. Hot tub was barely lukewarm temp, with no fire lit.

Our private van/rv site no. 1 was situated on higher ground near the dry sauna, kitchen space and easy steps to the rivers edge to the fire pit. The soaking tub and dry sauna came with provided wood cuts to keep it going. An early morning enjoyment. Kitchen space offered a Gas grill (bc ours failed) and a space to wash dishes…. But the lulling sounds of the Tye river was the best overloading sound to put you right to sleep. Oh and the host was a phone call away which was greatly appreciated. Lovely spot.
