It is centrally located to many attractions just minutes away: The Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, Beaches, Fishing, Wineries, Cool Shops, Farms Stands, Kayaking, Biking/Hiking Trails, and Traverse City. Come commune with nature and enjoy the awesome and uplifting vibe of the Leelanau Peninsula for the ultimate Eco experience! The small quaint town of Cedar, located just 3 miles away, has Buntings Market, The Cedar Tavern, an ice cream shop, new coffee house, and other eclectic shops. The bunkhouse is cozy and small (125 SQFT) and a perfect base camp for a good night sleep. It has a king size bed (twin beds set up available in extras), small refrigerator, two fans (no air conditioning), microwave, toaster, and electric tea kettle. The outdoor private space next to the cabin includes a table and chairs, propane grill, and a spacious campfire area. The rustic out-building has hot and cold water for the shower, double stainless sink and a counter to prepare meals on. The kitchen is appointed with two stainless steel pots, large cast iron frying pan, colander, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, cups, silverware, can opener, and metal hot dog/marshmallow skewers for campfire. Please bring your own bath and beach towels, bug spray, and bug free firewood. Kids? Dogs? Additional Guests? You can set up your tent or pop-up camper. It is centrally located to many attractions just minutes away: The Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, Beaches, Fishing, Wineries, Cool Shops, Farms Stands, Kayaking, Biking/Hiking Trails, and Traverse City. Come commune with nature and enjoy the awesome and uplifting vibe of the Leelanau Peninsula for the ultimate Eco experience! The bunkhouse sleeps two and also a small child’s cot can also be set up next to king bed, though it makes a very tight fit. More guests can set up tents or bring a pop up trailer to accommodate a larger party. The cabin is cozy and small (125 SQFT) and is a perfect base camp for a good night sleep. It has a king size bed and upon request beforehand can be divided to make two twin sized beds for a $20 fee in extras (clean bed linens and blankets included). There is a dorm sized refrigerator, two fans (no air conditioning), microwave, toaster, and electric tea kettle. The outdoor private space next to the cabin includes a table and chairs, propane grill, and a spacious campfire area. The rustic out-building has hot and cold water for the shower, double stainless sink and a counter to prepare meals on. Firepit, private. The property has an abundance of fallen wood on the ground that can be gathered for fires in the metal fire ring. Please do not burn plastic or cans.

Off leash, on leash. Most pets are allowed however text host to get permission to bring. Pets must be on flea/tick medication ~ Pet should not be left unattended at any time. For your pets safety keep them leashed at all times as property is located next to a busy two lane country road. Small dogs are not allowed in bed unless you bring your own blankets. Please notify the host before arrival so the hosts blankets can be removed from cabin.

Pump or well. Artesian well water flows from faucet in dish washing sink.

Hot water . The bath house with hot and cold water shower and large sink. Bring your own bath towels.

Recycling bin, trash bin. Keep all food/trash secure from critters!

Grill over firepit, bbq, private, fridge, sink or other dishwashing station. Cabin has small fridge, microwave, toaster, medium stainless pot, frying pan, spatula, and an electric water kettle for boiling water. Outdoor covered cooking area provided with counter and propane BBQ. Easy to use tripod grill over rustic fire pit.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful Christine’s bunkhouse is. It’s rustic and quaint, yet has electricity so you don’t lose sight of all of your comforts. The outdoor shower is addictive! I don’t want to shower indoors anymore! The firepit are is lather and inviting, and there is even a little trail for walks. At night, the silence and view is stunning. I forget how many stars there are, living in the city. I highly recommend the bunkhouse. It’s close to everything cool in Leelanau, and you can’t go wrong with it!!

The site had beautiful shade and rain cover. We had a beautiful view of the night sky from the campfire, which felt cozy and secluded. The cabin is small but cozy and fit 2 adults pretty easily. We were about 30 minutes from the dunes, 15 minutes from Traverse City, and 15 minutes from a beautiful beach. It was a perfect location for exploring what northern Michigan has to offer

Perfect, convenient outdoor escape

Bunkhouse in the Pines is 10/10. I was so impressed by the space when I got there. Like someone else has already mentioned -- the photos don't quite do it justice! The cabin is cozy and clean. The property has all the amenities you could need. Truly, we did not need to bring anything other than ourselves, towels, and some food. Thanks for thinking of all these details on what would make folks comfortable, Christine. The space feels private and I love how the kitchen/shower/fire area is beautifully nestled in a tree clearing. My boyfriend and I would absolutely love to come back. Not only was the space itself just so cool, but it's also conveniently located! It didn't take long to get to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Leland, Suttons Bay, and Traverse City from here. I definitely recommend giving this spot a try! Thanks, Christine.

My second time staying at the Bunkhouse was just as enjoyable as the first. Christine is a great host and has put a lot of effort into making this campsite comfortable, convenient, and relaxing. Pretty much anything you might need is provided at camp. There are pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, a coffee pot, lantern, chairs, small fridge, a toaster, and many other things that may be helpful. I love that the site is conveniently located to all of the local attractions as well. Despite being on a fairly busy road, traffic noise is minimal. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a good spot to camp. I can't wait to go back!

Christine is a great host! She provided a space heater for the cabin that was a life saver on a cold and rainy weekend. Her entire site is very thought out with almost everything provided for you. If you’re looking for complete privacy, this site might not be for you as it is close to the road and houses. The location is very convenient being close to TC, Glen Arbor, and Leelanau.

My family of 4 enjoyed our stay at this very quaint, private camp site. The overall site is well-equipped and comfortable. The cabin is like a hotel room with bed and refrigerator, power outlets and lamps. There's a flat area that we used for our small tent. The shower with hot water was very nice. The location is within a short drive to various attractions such as Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. The host, Christine, was very friendly.

Excellent Bunkhouse Experience

This campsite was so well-equipped and exactly as shown in the photos! The camp area was spacious with the outhouse a nice distance from the other features. Great communications and directions provided by host. We enjoyed the gorgeous setting and the location was absolutely perfect to explore both Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Leelanau Peninsula. I will note that traffic noise from the nearby road is present, but that dies down at night-time and did not impact our sleep in the cozy cabin. As a birder, I was able to identify many bird species by sound. Our daughter loved the cot just for her, and we appreciated the bedding and everything being ready when we got there. We hope to stay again!

Primitive feel and central location

We loved our stay! We have 2 kids, 9&5years. We used the cot and king and fit perfectly. We loved being centrally located to the destinations we wanted to day trip to up and down the peninsula. We were happy with the accommodations and amount of supplies offered. It was nice to feel like we were primitively camping but we didn’t have to pack and tore around all of our gear. Thanks again!

The bunkhouse was exactly as described! A beautiful piece of land with everything you need provided. The bed linens were a huge plus! Being only 20-30 mins from TC, Leland, and Empire was just perfect for us to be able to see all we wanted during our long weekend. We didn’t get the pleasure of meeting Christine, but she was a great communicator and there were many thoughtful touches in the cabin. For our first HipCamp stay it was an A+ (:

Peaceful, quaint, rustic cabin

What a great experience we had here. This is a quaint, peaceful and simple slice of heaven…perfect to get away from it all and reconnect with nature. My husband wanted to be alone and ground with nature, and this place provided. Christine was a great host. She has almost everything you need for your stay. The outdoor kitchen and shower are a huge bonus. Hot running water for shower and cleaning up is a huge perk. The location is centrally located to many great attractions that the area has to offer. Hiking, kayaking, biking, you name it, everything you need is close by. We would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for quiet and quaint…it was just what we wanted. Thanks Christine for a great stay!

Perfect!

My stay at the Bunkhouse was amazing! It’s like a hotel room, but outdoors. A great place to call home while exploring the surrounding areas. The cabin is clean and the bed is comfortable. I appreciated the electric pot to heat up water for coffee in the morning. The kitchen/shower area is really cool. The shower worked fantastic and the little area for preparing food and cleaning after meals is very convenient. I used the fire pit for cooking, but it was nice to have that propane option in case of rain. This property has a really good vibe and Christine is a fantastic host! (She was quick to come to my rescue when I accidentally locked myself out of the cabin.) 😁 I will definitely stay at the Bunkhouse again!

Nice private setting in the trees and ferns. Cabin with A/C power, separate kitchen/shower with propane fired hot water (very nice), and outhouse. Fire ring in clearing with some sun. Enjoyed my stay.

A Gem in the North!

Bunkhouse in the Pines is a real gem in northern Michigan! It is a great home base for exploring Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Benzie counties. It is within about 1/2 an hour from so many things to do. Christine is a great host and made our stay very enjoyable. The amenities are much more than what you would get at other campsites. The hot water was wonderful. The beds were comfortable and it felt like our own little oasis in the forest. Don't pass this place up!

This was a great retreat in a convenient central location in a quiet and relaxing setting. Christine has done a great job creating a comfortable yet refined rustic retreat on her beautiful property. She was also an incredibly welcoming host and made it an extra memorable retreat - the kids didn't want to leave!
