Possum Trot was in the Wilson family since the Civil War. Jess inherited the land and moved his maternal grandmother's log cabin from Laurel County onto Possum Trot for a future retirement home. In time, they added on to the cabin and moved into it permanently. With family and friends, they created the main camp complex at the Wigwam and other buildings, where they built a welcoming environment for others to come and enjoy this beautiful land of the Appalachians. We continue that heritage by opening our camp to those who love the rustic wilderness of Appalachia! This location is 230 acres on top of an Appalachian Ridge in Eastern Kentucky. It is rustic and remote, yet has a bathhouse with flushable toilets and hot water. You will have access to 8 miles of trails, a fishing pond and can visit with our many animals. We welcome Law Enforcement personnel-this is a safe zone!

Amazing stay!

This was perhaps the best campsite we've ever visited, and our hosts were absolutely wonderful! They were so friendly, helpful, and generous that even if the place hadn't been absolutely gorgeous (which it was) we would probably come back just for them! I highly recommend stopping here. The campsite we were in was spacious, cleared and flat but surrounded on three sides by woods and pretty private. We were able to pull right up to the site and it was an easy walk to the bathhouse and potable water. The bathhouse was clean and adorable. You could tell it was well cared for. Our hosts provided us with so may things including firewood, but there was also plenty to be found if you walked around a bit. The pond we visited was just beautiful and we really just had the best time wondering around, petting dogs, catching fish, and hanging out under the stars. I can't say enough good things about this place and the family who owns it. We are already planning another trip soon to bring our kids!
