Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. This secluded meadow has sweeping views, including a stunning shot of Mount Rainier on clear days. Surrounded by forested land including a park preserve, the land is quiet and private. A great place to watch birds, access multiple park trails by foot, or just enjoy being outside in nature. There are old fruit trees on the land that give plentiful fruit (most years) starting in August, and depending on the time of year you'll also find blackberries, huckleberries and salal berries. Additional tent sites are tucked into the trees. Serving all is an outdoor/covered compost toilet tucked into the trees a couple minutes walk from the meadow. There is also a spigot with hose where you can rinse off gear etc. A public swimming hole on Lake Florence is a short drive way, along with beaches. We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet.
Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry!
One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well.
There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage.
Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing!
Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out.
Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

The cabin and decks are private and off-limits to guests. The Island Shores Community Beach (with a boat launch ramp, just north of the house on the beach) is also private and not for camper use. Pets are welcome on a leash; a wildlife preserve with nesting birds sits next door, so leashes apply on the beach too.
About 2 to 2.5 hours from Seattle via Tacoma and the Harstine Island bridge. We hope our guests enjoy the tranquility of this place as much as we do.

We are a one hundred year old family owned farm with an organic garden, Permaculture garden, an apiary, and Christmas trees on six acres. We have Horseshoes, Tether ball, Disk Golf, Corn Hole and a small library for you to enjoy. Early spring the frogs go crazy later followed by the sounds of nesting birds. Fall is the season for migrating birds that rest at the ponds next door. August is the time to fill up on blackberries. There are individual campsites with a barbecue and picnic table and a shared fire pit. The fire pit didn't see much use last two years because of the fire danger so we have moved it to an open area that will be safer and hopefully be open longer, there is also an area at each campsite if you want to bring a propane fire ring (or we will have some for rent). You can star gaze from the fields and the major constellations can be seen on a dark night. We are becoming increasingly suburban and there is some road noise that can be heard and even with farms on three sides of us, you still might hear our neighbors in the distance. Campsites one and four are across the road from each other and campsites two and three are adjacent to each other, perfect if you have another family traveling with you. The Washington State Fair is 3.9 miles/ 13 minutes away, Tacoma Dome 7.5 miles/ 18 minutes, Point Defiance Park Zoo and Aquarium 19 miles/ 30 minutes and Wild Waves water park is 15 miles/ 26 minutes away. There is a gallery of wild life photography taken on the farm displayed in the outhouse. Eagles, hawks and Ospreys are frequent visitors to our property.

We (my partner, myself, and our two dogs) had a fantastic time at neighborwood. Everything is as advertised and more. It was our puppy’s first outdoor adventure and we had everything we needed to make it a stress-free trip. We are so glad we opted to stay here instead of doing a traditional tent camp. You are tucked away in a beautiful, quiet place but also have the amenities to make the trip easy. Tyler is a very sweet and helpful host and his dogs are very friendly. The island itself is very peaceful and the perfect little getaway with few cars and quiet parks with great access to the puget sound. Would recommend and we hope to be get soon!

I really enjoyed camping in the lovely meadow of Owl Glade. It was really peaceful and private, we saw a lot of wildlife in the short amount of time we were there! Harstine Island is really cute too with a lot of lovely flat hikes, a Saturday market, and views at the state parks. GK was a great host- helpful and communicative. We were set up for success when we arrived. I would stay again and recommend to anyone.

Argh!! Absolutely loved staying at The Plank and Pillow! Fabulously themed pirate cabin right on the lake with all the water crafts needed to enjoy the surrounding area. The lake is huge with lots of fingers but quiet due to motor boats being limited to 5mph. The hubby caught 2 big fish off the pedal boat, the kayaks were used till we could paddle no more, and my 17 year old loves herself a paddleboard! Roasted hotdogs and s’mores at the fire pit. The evening lighting that kicked in on its own was very cool! My crew has stayed at many a lakeside cabin and this is our new favorite spot. We had such a good time, even with cloudy weather and using a portapotty. Exceptional location, exceptional hosts! We highly recommend and will definitely drop anchor again in the future

The photos don’t do it justice. You really are right on the river. Fall asleep listening to it. Everything went great. We bought firewood at the store and they delivered it to our campsite. Which was wonderful. My one thing is, there only one operational bathroom with showers way up closer to the entrance. Otherwise they had portapottys and they were not the cleanest.

We stayed in lot 2. The property is well maintained and clean. The hosts come around to greet everyone and are so kind. There are porta potties and a wash sink. We were able to fill our jugs often. The water is a hike away with a steep incline. But the view is amazing. I will definitely book again with John and Carrie. Thank you for an amazing Friday-Sunday.

What a beautiful spot! We were 6 people (3 couples) sharing a site and it was the perfect car-camping spot for us. Close to Olympia, but feels like you're far away. The amenities were all great - hot tub, water view, shower and portapotties were super clean. You can see the other campers/campsites, so it didn't feel completely private, but still more private than a public campsite (and cleaner, too!) We fell in love with Bean, the camp dog, too! We'll definitely be back again.

The cabin was comfortable and clean. We had a little trouble finding the beach access but Fred was helpful and guided us in the right direction.
There's mixed messages about if the store on the island is open -- to date, it is NOT. Neither is the coffee shop, even though Google maps says it is. Be sure to buy and bring what you need before you go. The only thing open on the island is the restaurant, which was open 12-8pm the days we were there. We were a little under-prepared but it worked out and we had a nice time.

Amazing area and great hosts. Dumpster, bathroom, potable water, and firewood for sale onsite.
Hike down to the beach is a decent workout but the view once you get there is fantastic.

This site is great for low maintenance stays! We got to see horses and had minimal interaction with host/other guests. It is right next to the military base so expect a trumpet alarm clock and lights out notification. The hook ups are also less spaced out than the diagram implies, the space is a parking lot for the farm itself. It worked perfect for what we needed!

Group trip
We had our wedding here this last weekend and it was SO MAGICAL! We rented Molly and Jake’s space for the whole weekend, and Jake and Molly are so chill and friendly! We had everything we needed, and our guests loved the space! There’s even a deck to dance on, it was so perfect!!!
