Depending on wetness and season, alternative parking arrangements may be needed if parking area access too wet. ---------- Please see additional site descriptions for more details! More about Trip Camp: Purchased in 2013, building out our property has been a labor of love, and is always a work in progress. We wanted to live somewhere where things move slower and where we can have a more intimate connection with the land. We raise over 30 chickens, garden, and forage the natural abundance of the area, from berries to mushrooms. In our forest, there are deer, coyote, rabbit, bear, skunk, raccoon, squirrels and chipmunks, various owls, bald eagles, weasels, cougar, bobcat, and any other number of critters. The Trip Camp sites sit on the historical Spruce Logging Railway Camps of the early 20th century. During WW1, some conscientious objectors were sent to work camps such as the one here to log the first and second growth spruce trees for the war effort. When they finished the narrow gauge railway system to transport the logs in 1919, the war effort was over and was taken over by private logging concerns.

Coastal Farm Sanctuary

2 sites · RVs, Tents1 acre · Waldport, OR
Enjoy the peaceful tranquility and positive vibe of our working regenerative hemp farm and wildlife sanctuary. Hear the ocean as you drift off to sleep at your campsite in the evening. Wake up in the morning to *sunshine with birds singing in the surrounding forest. Talk story with the hosts as they tend to the plants and property maintenance throughout the day. Since 2015 we have been steadily regenerating the soils and improving this once completely barren property. We now have diverse plant life on the property which in turns attracts diverse wildlife including insects, birds (lately a pair of doves have been living here) and reptiles. Your stay here helps us to pay the bills and keep making this small patch of earth better. Our property sits on a sunny bench just back from the ocean and just above the fog line. Our south facing location gets ample sunshine most days and is surrounded on 3 sides by a forest of trees. The property is fenced and access is by gate. There are two seperate campsites which are separated by our central garden and bamboo plantings. Each campsite is limited to two people maximum for a total of four guests on the property at any time. On most days the maximum number of workers on the farm is two people (your hosts). This is a low traffic area. There is virtually no street traffic before 9 AM and none after 4 PM Mon-Sat and there is no traffic at all on Sundays. Site 1 aka Bamboo Camp is perfect for your van, truck, car or tent. Site 2 aka Freedom Camp is reserved exclusively for tents or bivvy bags. Both camp sites can use the contracted portable toilet located on the property. We keep it clean and odor free for a safe and sanitary camping experience. Hand sanitizer is also provided. Bring your bikes, boards and/or other outdoor gear! Many adventures can be had here on the central coast. Your hosts are avid surfers and cyclists and can help direct you to the best spots to match your skill level. Our property is close to town as well as road bike loops, gravel roads and mountain bike trails. We're also close to the beach and that's how we like it. Within 15 - 45 minutes drive surfers of all levels can find something fun to ride nearly everyday of summer and fall. The 18 hole golf course is just down the street from the property and the town of Waldport is only 2 miles away. Yachats is a short 12 minute drive to the south where you can find amazing plant based food and they serve fresh roasted coffee along with a large menu of other drinks and treats at The Green Salmon Cafe. Miles of white sand beaches are located just down the hill from us where you can walk all the way from the mouth of the Alsea river to the mouth of the Yachats river. Forested and easily accessible walking trails are also nearby. South of the property is Cape Perpetua which is a 2,700 acre nature wonderland with whales, tide pools and blowholes. It is located in the Siuslaw National Forest and includes a 26 mile trail system. Relax and enjoy the scenic 15 mile drive from the farm to get there. The Waldport city skatepark and the Red River disc golf course are just 1.2 miles from the property. There is a brand new skatepark in Yachats just 7 miles away. Restaurants, cafes, a bakery and bars as well as shopping, banking and even an open air market (on Wednesdays) can be found in downtown Waldport which is a short 2 miles from your campsite. We have some items such as bikes, surfboards, skateboards and more available for rental. Bring your Electric Vehicle! There are charging stations close by in Yachats and Newport. Below the Falls Lodge

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Coos Bay, OR
Relax and revive in this artistic 'cabin' with wonderful views of historic Glenn Creek from every room. An architectural dream, you enter this lodge style home through a pivoting hobbit style front door with hardware from the 1800's. Highlights of this original home include a gourmet kitchen with labradorite granite counters, 800 year old juniper tree spiral stair case, huge beams and exposed rafters, a sauna, and a romantic wood stove. Also each upstairs bedroom has a hanging bed with three 8 foot skylights above for indoor star gazing. Original artworks from local artists are throughout the home. Many pleasantries await the curious such as embedded fossils in the cracked mud walls.Nestled amongst towering fir and cedar trees, with windows everywhere, you'll feel and see nature's presence. This home site has a remarkably peaceful way about it. Recently featured in Southern Oregon Magazine and KCBY 11 TV's ~In Focus~ 'Goin' Green' and Oregon's Solar Home Tour, this is a unique 'green' home. This home was built with environmentally friendly materials. Building with little impact on the surroundings was very important to us during construction. The myrtle hardwood floor in the kitchen and living room was milled on site which came from trees that stood where the house is now. Same story for the beautiful maple flooring in the ½ bath. All of the large beams and fir flooring came from two 4' thick 104 year old douglas fir trees which also stood and were milled where the house is now. The fir trees sprouted after the last forest fire that came through the canyon. One of our neighbors fell a sixty five year old redwood that was over six feet thick! We used some of it as a wonderful wainscot paneling throughout the house. All of the finishes used are no or low VOC. Surrounding the house is native vegetation, huge trees and a few herbs and spices for cooking. You'll enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with labradorite granite counters. The kitchen island has a new five burner gas stove with a convection oven and warming oven. The island has plenty of granite and wood counter space. Hanging from the exhaust hood are stainless, non-stick, and cast iron cookware. We also provide shade grown fair trade coffee and a grinder, espresso machine, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, utensils, chef knives, glasses and frosty cocktail glasses in the freezer. The dining room table has a river view and can seat six comfortably. There is also seating for three at the island bar. From the kitchen you can visit with the folks in the living room thanks to the open floor plan. Beside the wood stove are two chairs and the futon couch with reading lamp. A CD changer, TV with a DVD player and VHS machine are in the downstairs bedroom. Bring your favorite videos or browse our selection of movies. The property has 150 feet of creek frontage with great views of Glenn creek, the forest and distant cliffs. Enjoy wildlife viewing with River Dippers, Chipmunks, Kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, Screech Owls, Pileated Wood Peckers, Elk, an occasional Bald Eagle or River Otter and other wildlife from the house and back deck. Build a fire and have lunch on the nearby picnic table and benches.

Lighthouse Lookout at Heceta Beach

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Florence, OR
Lighthouse Lookout is a is a 1300 square foot home with breathtaking views and quick access to the beach, just across the street. It was built in 2000, but the design was inspired by the Heceta Lighthouse Keeper's House. While not a 150 year old coastal cabin, there is a theme of 'warmth and comfort' from the storm. Those old buildings were-are cold and drafty - we've not had problems keeping salt shaker from caking, or candles flickering! - even when the rain is blowing hard against the house. It is a fantastic spot for watching winter storms. On the first level of the house which is up all of those stairs you see in the photo, you'll find the main living area. Which includes the galley kitchen, dining room & living room all with fantastic views. There is also a bathroom, laundry room and queen bedroom on this floor and quick access to the back deck to enjoy the morning sun or the immense front porch for watching, whales, pelicans, bald eagles and many other birds. Up the stairs takes you to the second floor where you'll find an open loft with a twin bed, desk and TV. In addition there are 2 more queen bedrooms and another bathroom. You even have a view of the lighthouse and the sea lion caves from the north bedroom.

A nearby covered gravel patio with pergola and transparent canopy is slightly more formal outdoor dining venue with a garden/woodside presence. Even the front entry has a sunny deck with adjoining gravel sunspot patio for informal breaks or socializing among plantings and native vegetation. For the slightly adventurous, a one-time sand knoll, now forested, lies beyond a pergola to the "wild side" of the property. Bring a collapsible chair (hanging just inside the side door to the garage) to sit and read a book and feel like you're in the wilderness (you are!). While wandering about the property, be entertained by the unexpected? can you find the gnomes? Now, what's with the name? Captain Cook (1728-1779) never landed in Oregon on his (- voyage in his 78 foot ship, the Resolution, in 1778)- he hardly saw it- and what he described as "snow" was most likely the sand dunes! He was the foremost navigator-explorer of his time. A good summary of his life and voyages is found in Wikipedia. More about his Oregon visit at the Captain Cook Society and at the Oregon Encyclopedia site. But wait, there's more- Joode, one of the owners, is a Brit, born near London, but spent her childhood summers in North Yorkshire- the birthplace of Captain Cook, and a monument to his memory caps Rosemary Topping, visible for miles around. And then- another connection- a best friend's great grandmother was the midwife who assisted in his delivery. It's a small world after all. Homeowner Rich purchased a home on this site in 2002, living here full time until 2006, when he and Joode, having married in 2005, returned to her home in the UK. Rich retired in 2013 following careers in education, forestry and national parks, tours/travel in the USA, and retail garden centers in the USA and UK. Joode is retired from a nursing career with the UK National Health Service in Oxford and the nearby Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty."We are both enthusiastic gardeners and enjoy the outdoors, birds, beaches, and travel- in fact we met on an adventure tour in South America and were married by the stream at Heceta Beach- just a few minutes' walk from the Captain Cook. ""When at home here in Florence, we listen to the waves and the wind in the trees, and watch the many kinds of birds that visit each day. When we "walk the beach" we may also find sand dollars or other beach treasures, or encounter bald eagles, osprey, seals, or hundreds of sanderlings busily feeding at the surf's edge. It's such a delight to know that the woods and beach stretch for miles beyond." Beach camping in Oregon Coast guide

Overview

Despite being one of the rainier parts of a very rainy state, the Oregon Coast has some of the best camping options in the Pacific Northwest, with ample camping available in Fort Stevens State ParkNehalem Bay State ParkUmpqua Lighthouse State ParkBeverly Beach State ParkCape Lookout State Park, and Harris Beach State Park. All of these Oregon state parks have tent sites, and many also have electrical sites or full hookup sites, plus yurts. While most Oregon Coast campgrounds are in the woods just offshore, sometimes a short drive from the nearest beach access point, many are within a few steps of Sandy beaches. There are also plenty of privately owned options, from cabins to RV sites, available for rent through Hipcamp. Just expect crowds if you come in the summer months, which are relatively dry and warm.
