Welcome to Sunset Bay Meadows! We have several tent/RV sites, a yurt, and one group camping site. Once a dairy farm and part of the old Simpson estate our property offers mushroom picking seasonally whey you may find Chanterelle & Hedgehog mushrooms. We're close to the beach and the Sunset Bay Golf Course is on the same property. Lots of hiking trails and you can connect with Sunset Bay State Park our neighbor. We have a private, secluded campground that is wind sheltered with approximately 20 acres of space in which to use our covered table, picnic tables, fire pit, fire rings at individual campsites, BBQ, sauna and outdoor propane-fired shower. The camp area is tucked away among large spruce trees and open meadows which lead to endless trails on the property, with the option to buy a round of golf at Sunset Bay Golf Course, which is right next door to the camp area. We’re just short of a mile from Sunset Bay, where you will find kayaking, fishing and a great spot for kids. The Whiskey Run mountain bike trails are a short drive away and are truly world-class trails. The Sunset Bay State Park has a huge trail network that spans the cliff line all the way from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago. Chuck’s Seafood in Charleston is a great spot to pick up local seafood. BBQ some oysters on the grill or pick up some fresh fish and enjoy the bounty of the coast. Charleston, just 3.5 miles away, also has some great restaurants and local shops to truly make your stay memorable. Only friendly dogs allowed and leashed or under voice command.

Cozy Yurt Stay with Welcoming Hosts
Sunset Bay Meadows Yurt
I had an amazing stay at this cozy yurt near Coos Bay, Oregon. The property itself is stunning—set on a vast stretch of woodland that is even part of a golf course, it felt like a peaceful retreat tucked away in nature. The yurt was warm, inviting, and the skylight made it extra special. Hearing the nearby stream in the evening and waking up to soft natural light were some of my favorite things about the yurt stay. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make my stay memorable, even taking the time to show me where to find edible mushrooms on the property. It’s clear they genuinely enjoy sharing their land and encouraging guests to explore and connect with the outdoors. The sauna and outdoor-style shower added to the rustic, nature-inspired experience—simple, refreshing, and perfectly in tune with the setting. Overall, this stay was peaceful, unique, and full of thoughtful touches. As a solo female I felt incredibly safe and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, nature-focused getaway. 🌿

Tim's place was absolutely amazing, the endless possibilities and beautiful sounds and views 😍 we will be back. The sites where way bigger than we expected, we had plenty of room for all of us. It was so nice. We could hear the Elk and sea lions all night and the morning before we left we seen some whales just a couple of minutes down the road. It was an experience.

2nd stay here ! Easy beautiful close to the ocean and beach shore ! It’s the epitome of “hip camp” ! Thank you again we’ll be back . Great location to access Whiskey Run mountain bike trails . About 20 minutes drive . Charlatan is the closest town - Millers Cove - crab Louie Salad ! Coffee on the corner and Davey homes locker if you forgot anything ! Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise!

Lovely, dark and quiet other than generators from RV campers. Great location for Sunset Bay, Shore Acres and Cape Arago. Tim was great communicator. Yurt was clean, mattress comfy, solar powered lights a nice touch

Our campsite was lovely. I never met Tim but he was gracious in welcoming us beforehand. If you have small dogs be aware that, like any wilderness area, there are coyotes on the property or very nearby.

While there are many RV parks & campgrounds in the area to choose from we really appreciated the secluded & peaceful setting at Sunset Bay Meadows. Tim was an excellent host. The wood fired sauna & outdoor shower were a big perk! Thank you for a relaxing stay.

Site 3 - Sunset Bay Meadows
This is my 3rd or 4th year back at Sunset Meadows, and the 2nd year I have brought 7-8 rigs with me for an event. We will keep coming back because the Meadow is absolutely gorgeous and the host, Tim, is such a pleasure to work with for events! Tim is always SO welcoming and accommodating and we make our reservations knowing we will have an amazing time! Thank you, Tim!

Great place to camp! Secluded, campsites are roomy and well-manicured....and there's a variety of sites to choose from. Portapotties were stocked & clean, and apparently serviced weekly. It's a bit of a walk back up the road to the shower and wood-fired sauna, we didn't use either. Bring your lawn games, ladderball, cornhole, etc. Firepits & picnic tables in good shape. Close to Shore Acres, Sunset Bay, Coos/North Bend, etc. Even Bandon wouldn't be that far. Recommended, we will stay again!

After staying at many hipcamps for years this is my favorite. Such a well cared for and beautiful spot! The sites are private and spaced out. Tim is sharing this paradise to include more than just golfers. I'm happy that this place is geared towards people who appreciate the beauty of the area and back to nature camping or it would surely be overrun with loud RVs and generators like surrounding campgrounds. The trails around the property that Tim has maintained blew my mind. The golf course is gorgeous. The portas, trash bin and access to potable water are great!

We stayed only the one night. It was a lovely grassy area with trees surrounding. You pick your own site which are quite spacious. There is also quite a bit of space between the campsites which was nice.

Seems a little remote while driving in but once in, if you are ready for natural beauty with out hookups or anything but maybe a fire ring and a picnic table, this place is perfect. We come every year and have suggested it to friends. So beautiful

Sunset Bay Meadows Yurt
This was a gorgeous property with neatly manicured sites that were spread out nicely. Our family absolutely loved the setting in the middle of this forest! Not only was the site great but it was less than a 5-minute drive to Sunset Beach. We had the yurt site so with an older sister and a disabled nephew it was the only way to get us all camping and they loved the yurt which was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this site.

Site 3 - Sunset Bay Meadows
We loved camping here! We followed the clear instructions for getting there and met with Tim on our way in. He is friendly and instructed us to choose whatever site we desired. That was a tough choice since there are so many awesome spots! They are all good sites to choose and we truly enjoyed ours. They are all nicely spread apart. We could still see another campsite, but they are far enough away that we couldn’t hear them at all. It felt very private. Best of all our dogs had a great time and loved not being on leash or piled in a parking lot. There is also a dog beach (Bastendorf) about a mile up the main road. The outdoor shower is great. We didn’t use the sauna but I peaked in and it looks like a fun option. There is no service at the sites, but you can get on Wi-Fi at the house on the way in or out. The porta-potties were very clean and no bad smell. The scenery is gorgeous. It is located at the back end of Sunset Meadows Golf course and we enjoyed playing a couple rounds of golf. Although beware, the course eats golf balls so bring extra!

Pretty and secluded spot, lots of space. A great place for a larger group, but fun for just 2 as well. Outdoor shower is rustic but appreciated! Tim and his dogs were very welcoming.

Site 4 - Sunset Bay Meadows
Great spot, we were already planning our next trip after our first hour! It was so peaceful, and close to town if we wanted to explore. Tim stopped by once to check on us and gave us great ideas. We were able to get our 27 foot trailer in and out with our Dodge Ram, I could see how a large RV might struggle with clearance but we were fine. The state parks are a short drive and really amazing. We can’t wait to go back!

Camping in our own meadow, it doesn’t get much better than that! And close to things to do at Sunset Bay. We will definitely be back.
