This campsite was STUNNING. I was worried my car wouldn’t make it up the trail but it did just fine and I survived lol the skies were so clear after the rain and stargazing for some stragglers of the perseid meteor shower was so amazing. If I could’ve been there for the peak I would’ve 😭 it did rain a good bit and there’s a few low spots in the camp that collect water so keep that in mind for where you place your tent. The host included complimentary firewood for each night and it was the perfect amount for us, we didn’t even burn through all of it!

Great private camping in a unique spot. The rocks that line the back part of the site added a cute touch and bit of a magical feel. Getting to the site is going up-hill, so it’s a bit of a workout hauling stuff up. It is possible to get a car up there, but our Mazda 6 was a bit too low to clear some of the terrain. Subarus, Jeeps or cars of the like could make it up. I loved this site. Sarah’s description of needing to bring water, electricity, and having a provided compost toilet is accurate. We had solar powered laterns and string lights that did well here. Sarah gave great communication prior to our trip, too. This is far out enough to hear many different wild birds and animals. We made friends with some curious rabbits and heard coyotes in the distance. The stars-gazing is also top-tier next to the fire. The fire pit is huge and has a built in fire grill that made cooking with our Dutch oven easy. The fire pit is a little raised with some loose bricks, so be sure to watch your step around it. We cleared some bricks to make it easier to walk around. Sarah also provided a lot wood, so cooking using primarily the fire was do-able. Overall, if you want a more off-grid, private experience with a safety net of a town within a 20 minute drive, this is a great spot. Sarah is responsive to any needs if you have any. We had Verizon and att phone services and phone calls and gps were reliable.

Weekend Trip to Ham Lake Resort

The campgrounds were a very pleasant surprise. Very well maintained, clean, quiet at night, and the staff were all very friendly and wonderful (including maintenance guys who helped me with a plumbing leak issue). Nice petting zoo, dog play area, little beach on the lake, and trails around the grounds. Some RV spots are a little close together, but the overall grounds are large and spacious, so it didn't feel crowded. Kind of an under-the-radar hidden gem for the Twin Cities!

7 nights at Tiger lake Ranch

The property is pretty much open prairie land. I saw so many different types of birds to include eagles, water fowl, (didn't hear any loons but doesn't mean there aren't any) saw a few wildlife (deer, turkey, ground hog, a couple meadow voles. ) Andrew has a farm and there are a few horses and some very friendly goats, and super friendly dog. Andrew always answered my questions and was available if I needed anything. The farm is down a long dirt road which makes the stay very peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. Thanks Andrew for a great stay! I would stay again.
