FAQ: Our cabin is an off grid (very limited power, now way to charge or plug in AC devices) post and beam structure that we built 9 years ago. It has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There is a large (150 gallon) tank of water for doing dishes and camp showers but we do not suggest drinking it. There is a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. We have wired lights that run off DC power when there is enough solar and we provide some battery packs for charging phones. We highly suggest bring some way to charge any of your personal electronics. There is no reliable way to do that in the cabin.
This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

Bringing a warm sleeping bag will enhance your stay in cool Maine nights or when the mist rolls in. We are pet friendly. However, we do not accept all pets. As you sent a request to bring your friendly, well-trained, well-behaved pet, we have accepted that being the case.
We do not discriminate against large dogs. We have large dogs. Your dog will be expected to meet me and my dogs and interact appropriately. If your dog cannot do that, it is not welcome. We do discriminate against mean, biting, untrained and misbehaving ones.
You will pass by our henhouse where our chickens may be roaming at large. It is important for you to keep your dog on the leash until you hit the rock wall. We also have geese, they are of the nice geese persuasion, they will usually veer away from you upon being approached. We do not want any pets chasing our geese. They have goslings now so will be protective of their young.
At the cabin, they are welcome to be off leash, but should respond to voice commands and not be left outside unattended.
Also, Maine is very dog friendly. There are few places you can’t take your pet.

We occasionally host unique events and services that will be announced on our social media pages and may be requested for small groups with prior arrangements made. Since the early 1800s, this land on the edge of Chandler Brook has nourished bodies and spirits alike. Sloping pastures meet well-managed woodlands, making this a haven for both humans and wildlife. Since the 1980s, we have worked to restore the soil and make a "hand-built" life as farmers using pre-industrial organic methods. We maintain pollinator habitats, tend an fledgling orchard of heirloom-variety fruit trees, and conserve rare heritage-breed animals, including Tamworth pigs and Scottish Highland Cattle. Our shared love for Celtic folk culture has blended naturally with our love of sustainable agriculture to create Tir na nOg Farm. Today, the work of restoration continues with the help of farm partners, family, friends, WWOOFers, and other volunteers. This land is already better than we found it, but we hope it will remain a gathering-ground of culture and agriculture, tradition and innovation for generations to come.

The Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary was generously bequeathed to the Kennebec Land Trust in November 2016 upon owner Kendra Wakefield Shaw’s passing. Its 108-acres feature historic cabins and 4000 feet of frontage on Cobbossee Stream in West Gardiner. The property’s coniferous and deciduous woods, vernal pools, and marshlands are important habitat for many species of birds, mammals, and plants.
In 2018, the Maine Cabin Masters renovated two of the stream-side cabins, which now serve as rustic getaways for Hipcampers and the like.
A small dock and canoes are available for use on the wide and deep flatwater stream!
*NEW 2024 - A dock has been added to cabin 2, so each cabin now has it's own private dock.

Due to the sensitive wildlife habitat - no dogs are allowed at either cabin.

A very sweet and rustic Hemlock cabin, along with secluded 17' and 14" bell tents, plus 2 private campsites sit along beautiful Webb Brook. Walk through the large open field, away from everything, to this storybook setting. All you can hear is the waters of the brook rushing and sounds of nature all around. Graham Lake is just a stone's throw away. Great for stargazing, kayaking, fishing, and swimming. This magical place is just beyond our farm where we you can buy fresh chicken and duck eggs daily at the house.
In the cabin, upstairs, a lofted queen bed accessed by a sturdy wooden ladder. Downstairs, a wood stove with dining area, and living space with full sized convertible bed. No electricity, no plumbing, no wifi. Good cell service. Composting toilet and water tank for use inside cabin. Gas grill and firepit with tripod grate outside for cooking options. Two large picnic tables for outdoor dining. Truly a magical place.
The campsites and secluded 2 bell tent sites are hidden away along Webb Brook, sitting among the pines and hardwoods. A port-a-potty available for all guests' use. Almost 9 acres of land to explore and discover, as well as Graham Lake just a walk away.

Get your "groove" on or hang loose here on a precious little island with a big bridge just off route one in the heart of Midcoast. Hundreds of guests report the perfect balance of upbeat fun and chill time and call our place and hospitality "magic", "amazing" and "holy guacamole!" It is a lovely spot just off the beaten path but close enough to access the frey. :)
I welcome my guests personally and have likely had a chat before you booked. I like to know what your hopes and priorities are around your stay before I accept so I can meet both of our needs. When you arrive, I will greet you and share a little history/tour of the place. I accept travelers between 4 and 9 pm but like all of us schedules fluctuate and we can roll some. There's a strong chance on an average Maine clear summer evening, I have the campfire going and the solar lights around the yard are charged for their evening gentle show.
All of the spaces I rent are bedrooms only. You walk a few steps/yards to my 5 bedroom home and access two showers and some kitchen use. I also have an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen that is cute and for your use. It's fun to cook on the fire too! I prefer folks to limit cooking esp in hot weather but support healthier eating and may share some of my foraging tips. The rooms are equipped with plenty of linens and fan power. You will be cozy either way the temps go.
There is a lovely porch on the log home where you can sit and enjoy the sunset and lots of wildlife activity. The back yard has tether ball and lots of seating as well as the good sized fire pit with ghosts of hundreds of fireside chats gone by. I look forward to ours!
Next door there is a gravel road on a lightly traveled road for your walking or biking pleasure. I am happy to join you in a hilly roller coaster cycling experience and have a few bikes to offer up. I am a WWOOF host and have occasional "helpers" and you are welcome to explore my veggie and flower gardens.

A 15-minute drive to Belfast allows you to find great lobster fresh from a lobster pound or pick up a meal and enjoy it while watching the daily life in Belfast Harbor and waterfront. You may also visit close by spots like Searsport Harbor or Sears Island. You can also take a short trip to Camden, Rockport or Rockland.

Our farm cabin has a great feel of being connected to nature. It is quiet, cozy and a wonderful place to watch the sunset overlooking grazing animals. The cabin has a queen bed in the downstair bedroom and another double bed in the loft. The couch in the sitting room also folds-out to a double bed for the children. We use high-quality cotton sheets, pillows and down comforters - to assure you will be cozy and feel pampered.
We provide coffee/tea service in the morning in our farm store.
The cabin does not have heat, electricity or running water. We provide numerous battery-charged lights and candles making this a is cozy, relaxing and perfect way to experience Maine farm life. An outhouse is nearby. We provide an outdoor hot-water shower.
Plan to visit our farm store where you can buy home-made soap, beeswax candles, organic wool pillows, sheep and goat skins and other creations made by Patti.
Loads of hiking trails are right out our door or wander down the gravel road.
Visiting the animals (sheep, pigs and, of course, Denali - the farm hound) is always a highlight for guests. Please leave your own dog at home, thank you.

My step Dad Bob ‘discovered’ the island in the 1970’s when he was escaping the rat race and looking to get ‘back to the land’. Over the course of three years he built the island house by floating cedar logs across the bay, using a come-along to bring the up to the land, debarked and prepped them for building and set about constructing his off-grid, solar powered home. All without power tools.
Both my Mom and Bob were ardent environmentalists and peace advocates. For 20 years they lived year-round on the island and only left when their ages made it difficult to continue cutting/splitting/moving/burning wood and just the ordeal of living so remotely. Most visitors to the island agree the peaceful vibe continues and that is important to us.

We built this cabin recently with siblings and a few skilled friends to make a getaway place for the extended family. Just 2 miles off Rte. One our location is quiet and perfect for exploring the midcoast of Maine - a short drive to many favorite places!
The cabin is built on property adjacent to our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard planted, ramps seeded, and a producing strawberry hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months, and keep pekin ducks (the white ones) (now all in retirement!). The farm is 78+ acres with logging roads and is located on a quiet road. Food markets and some good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. There is an outdoor shower, a nice outhouse, a campstove, oil lamps etc - so it's is very old fashion yet comfortable cabin stay! Bring your own towels and maybe some candles. Plenty of board games, and maps of our local hikes and places to explore. If you come in the fall you should know that the roof is insulated but the walls are not - so layer up, bring extra blankets, and hugging the woodstove might be necessary! You'll enjoy the screened porch in all kinds of weather.

Such a beautiful peaceful spot! Stayed here with my kids and pups and everyone had a great time! The blackflies were pretty bad (to be expected at the end of May) but tolerable with lots of bug spray and deterants. :)

Weekend Trip to Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond
Robert was an exceptional host! The cabin felt secluded and off the grid, while still being close enough to town and amenities when needed. The drive in was a little rough in spots, but taking it slow made it manageable! The cabin itself was cozy, comfortable, and stocked with the essentials—the cots, chairs, and solar lights were especially helpful!!
Our pup had so much fun exploring the woods. We also spent some time down by the pond and even managed to catch a huge bass, which was a highlight of the trip!
Robert was incredibly communicative, accommodating, and kind throughout our stay. We unexpectedly had to cut our trip short, and he was extremely understanding and generous during the situation. We truly appreciated his hospitality and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Hockomock island is a very special place. Lisa is a really great host and nice to talk to. Our time was so quiet and peaceful. Kayaking around in the bay was dreamy. Exploring the island was fun. And waking up every day to that view, priceless.

We had such an amazing weekend at Mark and Trish's cabin. They we such great hosts and the cabin and site were fantastic. They truly seem to care about managing the property. Mark told us that they built the cabin themselves from materials primarily sourced from their land. Mark took time to show us around and said we were free to explore the land and any of their buildings. There were also plenty of wildlife sightings. We saw deer and there were so many birds. It was incredibly peaceful. There are lots of hiking and swimming spots nearby. And although we did not use it, there is a bathroom with a shower. On our way out, Mark gave our kids a couple of toys that he makes. Fucking kick ass time and we definitely plan on returning.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Valley Nature Center
Wonderful opportunity to rent a reasonably priced rustic camp and support Midcoast Conservancy at the same time. Vert peaceful spot with lots of bird life in springtime. I love hiking in with a full pack and putting the heavy gear in a cart. It’s a great place for families or a quick local adventure.

Sweet spot with a cool river and pond! The road isn’t too bad w 2wd if it’s dry but if it’s wet you may need to hike 1000ft to the cabin. Would recommend if you’re looking for a more remote feel.

We had a great time at the tiny house! The house was cozy and tidy with lots of great outdoor space for the dog to play. Logan was responsive to our questions leading up to and during the trip. It was helpful to have our own headlamps and external batteries for charging as there was very limited electricity.

Amazing spot! Spent the evening and morning fishing the brook, having a fire, and hanging out in the cabin. Cabin had plenty of sleeping space and was super comfy. We had access to fresh water and the option to buy firewood. The wood stove in April was a great luxury.

We always love it here. It is very relaxing and stays nice and cozy. Just an FYI, there are no longer cots or beds here. You will have to make sure to bring a sleeping pad.

John is an excellent host and took time to explain the history of the land when I arrived, which really added to my appreciation of the place during my time there.
