We built this cabin recently with siblings and a few skilled friends to make a getaway place for the extended family. Just 2 miles off Rte. One our location is quiet and perfect for exploring the midcoast of Maine - a short drive to many favorite places! The cabin is built on property adjacent to our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard planted, ramps seeded, and a producing strawberry hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months, and keep pekin ducks (the white ones) (now all in retirement!). The farm is 78+ acres with logging roads and is located on a quiet road. Food markets and some good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. There is an outdoor shower, a nice outhouse, a campstove, oil lamps etc - so it's is very old fashion yet comfortable cabin stay! Bring your own towels and maybe some candles. Plenty of board games, and maps of our local hikes and places to explore. If you come in the fall you should know that the roof is insulated but the walls are not - so layer up, bring extra blankets, and hugging the woodstove might be necessary! You'll enjoy the screened porch in all kinds of weather.Our lovely off-grid cabin is located on a quiet part of our organic fruit farm here in midcoast Maine. Our local trail guide shows the most public walking and hiking trails in our town in the entire county - so pretty cool! The Camden Hills are just to our north, the boat ferry is  out to Monhegan Island is just a jaunt down the road, we have a great low key lobster place we like to recommend….it’s not Bar Harbor and we like it that way! Fall is the perfect time to visit Maine - stunning views with our fall foliage display, often warm days to hike and paddle and cool nights to cozy up to the inside wood cookstove. But mostly - on this quiet road - why don’t you just sleep in and relax! Why rush? Cook a meal on the outside fire…..read in the rocking chair in the roomy screened porch. Besides dining in the screened porch there is an eat-in kitchen and living space with a two burner campstove as well as the wood cookstove, and a main floor separate bedroom.  Sleeping arrangements include the bedroom with a full size bed, a loft with a full sized futon and twin size mattress on the floor, and the living space has a couch which can be opened to a  full sized futon (watch your fingers when opening it out!).   Sheets are provided with some light summer blankets and we ask you to bring your own blankets if concerned about cooler nights and your own towels. We  have a few oil lanterns, and candle holders (do bring some!) and bring flashlights  for trips to outhouse or reading at night!  There's an outdoor raised fire pit with seating provided, an enclosed outdoor shower with solar water bags and a water bucket/ladle (heat up some water in the teapot to warm it up!) ,  and an outhouse.  We ask that you park and leave your vehicle at the stone wall opening as the field is starting to be restored.  We are 6 miles to supermarkets and misc. local eateries and there are lots of parks and protected areas to explore.

Campfires allowed
Firepit. A raised metal firebox is located on site - for outdoor fires and cooking. This is the ONLY place for outdoor fires allowed. Campers are provided wood for the first night's fire and can order more from us. You may have to find your own kindling in adjacent woods - there's plenty around.
Toilet available
Pit toilet. An outhouse is available near the cabin with some TP and hand washing water supplied.
Pets allowed
On leash. We have horses sometimes pastured near the cabin - so if your dog isn't going to chase them then can be off leash. But beware of porcupines, skunks, and foxes! And PLEASE keep your pets off the beds and sofa - appreciate it if you bring their own beds! And obviously pls. pick up their deposits if anywhere near where people walk!
Potable water available
Bottled water or jugs. Well water is supplied in 5 gal. containers and buckets for drinking and cooking.
Showers available
Cold water only. A solar heated water bag is available for campers to fill and leave in the sun to warm up. It is an enclosed shower near the cabin - out in the sun for afternoon rinses!
Bins available
Trash bin. When leaving please move all your trash to the outside metal barrel location. A separate bin is provided for returnable bottles.
Cooking equipment present
Private. Kitchen has all the basics - two burner campstove, plates, pans, cutlery, glasses, cutting boards, bowls, french press for coffee, tea kettle. An interior sink available for washing up. There is also a woodburning cookstove. Designated pots and pans may be used on the outside firepit.

We loved staying in Barbara’s cabin! Coffee on the screen porch in the morning, card games in the evening, and everything we needed in the kitchen area. It was clean and cozy and we were actually wishing it was a bit cooler so we would have a good reason to light the stove. Perfect location for exploring Mid-Coast Maine!

The cabin was homie, it had everything we needed. Id say the main bed was a hit small for two larger people, could be a bit bigger. It was so nice to have free water the two jugs came in handy like crazy. It was perfect description of a cabin in the woods.

Lovely little cabin! It was great to get away from our home routine and live without electricity or running water. We stayed at the end of July and while it got hot on one of the days the cabin cooled down really quickly with the windows open in the evening. Lots of fun things to do nearby. It was a bit buggy when we were walking around the property so bug spray was necessary. But the cabin had everything we needed and Barbara was very responsive with anything that came up!

Very nice little cabin - clean and as described. Barbara and Chris are very friendly and helpful. It was very hot the first afternoon/night, but was 93 degrees out during the day so not surprising. Beautiful area. Thank you!

This cabin is fantastic! We had an amazing short stay. Burgers on the camp stove followed by games on the screened-in porch made for a night we will surely feel nostalgic for in the coming years. The central location offers easy access to both lakes and the ocean. Most of our weekend was spent at a wedding, but if/when we return, we would bring our kayaks or take advantage of the canoe rental. There are many beautiful and calm paddling spots close by it was a bummer we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy them.

Perfectly appointed off grid cabin, spacious and welcoming feeling. Be prepared that it's very buggy around the cabin and do enjoy the screened in porch. The canoe and nearby access areas are an idyllic scene and activity. The hosts were genuinely friendly. We plan to revisit.

Was as listed! Great place to unplug..is quiet, beautiful, simple. Gas cook stove a huge plus. Wood cookstove was great for chilly evening… Clean, easy to navigate, 20 min to beaches. Lots of hiking trails very close by as well. Just make sure you have a flashlight or two! Especially walking to the outhouse Would definitely go back if schedule allows

Sweet spot - feels remote, but still very easy to access. We enjoyed fires under the stars each night. Lots of water provided. Excellent outhouse! Lots of bed options. Very sweet screened porch for meals and hanging out.

great, well-maintained cabin a short drive outside of Waldoboro. has all the essentials you'd need while still maintaining an "off the grid" feel. it was actually quite a lot bigger than I expected and felt roomy with plenty of space to relax between the main room, indoor porch, and fire pit. would recommend bringing extra water and proper flashlights just in case

The cabin was perfect for my fiance, our dog, and myself. The dog had plenty of room to run around and it's very peaceful. I love the Wood stove and the view of the sun coming up through the bedroom window was wonderful. The shower isn't fun when it's been cloudy all day because the water isn't warm but it didn't really bother us at all. The lanterns provide a nice glow in the cabin when it's dark and the porch so very cozy. The only negative thing I can say is that it's hard to do the dishes without running water but for the price we paid and the lovely time we had I can't complain.

We could tell as soon as we got there that there is much care and love put into this place. We enjoyed a peaceful and comfortable two night stay, and we're lucky to have great weather. We used the provided camp stove to make breakfast and coffee and cooked dinner on the fire pit. Plenty of wood was provided on request including kindling. We loved it there so much we might be planning a stay in the fall when it will be colder and we can use the beautiful wood stove! Absolutely loved it. Thank you Barbara for being such a gracious and attentive host!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barbara’s cabin. It is very spacious yet cozy. Lots of fields and woods provide tranquility and a safe spot for our dogs. We especially enjoyed the large screened porch. We were glad to have our lantern and flashlight … and bug spray. ( not any more buggy than the rest of the state. Ha)

We love the cabin at White Duck Farm. The cabin was incredibly neat and clean. It is a beautiful home tucked into great mid-coast spot. The fireflies in the field at night can be enjoyed from the screened in porch/dining room. Dreamy!! It is a tranquil spot and close to great attractions like the Old Alewives Brewery (get a couple of pizzas), Pemaquid lighthouse, and Treats bakery in Wiscasset. Taking a sun shower in the field at White Duck is the Maine equivalent to our traditional New England ritual where we grew up: the outside shower. Bring a beach towel or a plush robe for apres sun shower. We packed flashlights and our camp lights for after sundown but the oil lamps in the cabin provide plenty of light. This time of year means remembering to pack your Badger Balm Bug Spray for skeeters (we forgot it!). Paintings, a cool wood stove, and a pristine privy are all part of the charm of this place. Our hosts were so super kind and communicative and helped us with recommendations. Check-in/out was a breeze and directions to the property were clear and easy to follow. We absolutely recommend this awesome place! Thank you!

The cabin was much bigger than expected and provided plenty of room for just me and my boyfriend. You could absolutely fit a small family in there! It felt very private behind the field but just close enough to the road that it didn't feel super isolated. Barbara was very communicative the entire trip and let us know the local happenings to check out! It rained the entire first day of our trip, but the cabin was dry and cozy, especially after lighting a fire in the wooden stove. There are kerosene lamps provided, and the kitchen is well equipped. There are lots of games provided in the cabin for night time activities, but mind the cabin inside gets dark quickly. There are a few cute towns and lots of antique shops around to explore if you don't like hiking. We are already planning our return to this cute little cabin and the peaceful nature surrounding. This was such a treat to start our summer adventures.

My dogs and I love staying at the cabin. Such a beautiful spot on the edge of a field. Gorgeous wildflowers. Barbara was very accommodating when I fell down near Pemaquid and broke my wrist. Can't wait to go back again!
