When wellness professionals host ongoing services onsite. 3. During WSS-hosted events that feature healing arts practitioners. Our event space will be available for rental and collaboration with local businesses, nonprofits, and community groups—so long as their purpose aligns with our values: promoting wellness, building connection, and supporting mental health through holistic means and nature's tranquility. Each year we expand on this campground until it's full vision is a reality. For 2026 we have a few campsites, some have platforms, some without. The plan this year is to add a cabin, woodshed, bathroom and work on the trail system. Each campsite has a buffer of vegetation with the lake as a view, a fire pit and space to have more than one tent. There will be a waste bag toilet. No running water, not much cell service, no electricity. Park at the main road and bring your camping items into the woods. Your site will be labeled. Trash in, trash out. Firewood for sale, camping gear for rent. Canoe and walk the beach (if low levels). Dog friendly: must be friendly, on a leash and please be mindful of dogs digging. Here we value the land, it's sanctuary and soil erosion prevention along the shoreline. Friends and Family Market on rte 1A is the closest resupply.

Big Moose Inn Cabins & CampgroundIrving O. Hunt and his brother Lyman built some rough camps on Millinocket Lake before they became interested in the Nesowadnehunk Stream region. Whether or not their old camps were at the same site as the present camps on Millinocket Lake we do not know.The Millinocket Lake Camps, known today as Big Moose Inn, are located on a narrow spit of land separating Ambejejus Lake and Millinocket Lake. Before a dam controlled Ambajejus’ water level, it was possible to pole up the short stream from Millinocket Lake into Ambejejus.Fred Spencer build the camps, originally named Camp Eureka, in 1899 or 1900 and ran them with his brother. With the founding of Millinocket only a few years earlier and lumbering roads nearing Katahdin, the two lakes became more easily accessible. Camp Eureka was advertised as the only camp reachable by both boat (from Norcross) and road (from Millinocket). In 1905, the rate was $1.50 per day, meals included. Spencer also claimed the lakes had no flies or mosquitoes during spring and summer- a phenomenon caused by the way winds blow across the lakes, which makes it difficult for insects to gain a foothold.The camps’ name changed to Camp Spencer and later to Spencer’s Camps. Around 1929 the lease was transferred to Elmer Woodworth, who lived with his wife on a nearby island while they operated the camps. Elmer, a well-known guide, trapped over the winter, and his wife served as the camp cook. The couple soon renamed the camps Millinocket Lake Camps and Trading Post. They also maintained an outlying camp on Sandy Stream for their guests. In 1941, a major fire broke out in the area. The Woodworths saved the camps by wetting them down, but lost their island home when a stray spark jumped the cove. There is some evidence that, for a short time, a gentleman named Johnny Given either held the lease or managed the camps for the Woodworths. Except for that brief change the Woodworths operated the camps for many years until they passed the lease on to their son Ray, who ran them with his wife Muriel.In 1977, the lease was transferred to Bob and Frederica (“Teddy”) Boynton, who in 1981 sold the trading post to Erwin and Maureen Bacon. The Boyntons retained the sporting camp operation and later added a public restaurant. Teddy renamed the camps Big Moose Inn. Bob and his son Bruce made many renovations to the camps, while Teddy decorated and furnished them. The Boynton Family has remained involved in the success of the inn and restaurant. After Teddy’s death in 1991, management passed to Bruce and his sister Laurie, but Bob and other family members are still very involved.The dam separates the flowages of the two lakes. Millinocket Lake is about eight feet above its original level, and Ambajejus is now some 21 feet above its original level. When this area was originally settled, the farm was located on the "highway" from Camden to seasonal pastures in Lincolnville. The trails leading to the park still go by the old foundations that dotted the old Government Road from Camden. The farm has 46 acres of flowing pasture, hardwood forest and flower and vegetable gardens. But the view, the chance meeting of another camper, the proximity of the beach ( down a path from the site mind you - the photo makes it look like you on the actual beach) and the sheer sanctity were also factors in our memorable stay. This place is a keeper. We will be coming again.

Kristopher's land on the ocean front is just beautiful! He has kept it simple, but orderly, with great space between the sites - at least while I was there it was only me and another couple in the main ocean front area. The view out on the water is awesome, looking out on many different islands. I was able to get my sea kayak down the stairs to the rocky beach as the stairs were in great condition, and kayaked for hours around the neighboring islands thanks to a quiet morning sea. This is right at the start of the Bold Coast so begins to give that wild feeling that only grows as you head north, but mellows when you head south. Nearby is the Great Nass Island Preserve with an absolutely beautiful - and rugid - 4.5 mile loop hike giving you the best of Maine nature. Bring your hiking boots. Kristopher was a quiet but nicely present host who clearly loves his land and what he had done with it. I'll be back again, and so obviously I highly recommend this special camping spot!

Kilene was wonderful and welcoming. She was easy to communicate with and extremely flexible when we needed to shift our travel plans a bit. The East Boothbay location is awesome - we biked and tide pooled and made cozy camp fires with our kids. Super fun!

Gorgeous, peaceful, oceanfront view of all of Western Bay. Site was tucked behind a bunch of alders for great privacy. Perfect to keep my excitable dog. We both relaxed and soaked in the sun and fog. The site was flat and had 2 firepits and wide open space for lots of options to pop my tent. A campervan would love it, too.

The stay at Kristopher's property was amazing. Our first time to Maine did not disappoint. They views were beautiful and the location was incredibly peaceful. Met the host the first day and he was incredibly friendly and inviting. 10/10 stay if you are looking for a remote quiet location to spend a few days.

Beautiful, quiet wooded site. Very private, yet convenient for easily getting to all local attractions. It was a relief to come “home” to camp after visiting the bustling harbor. Nice to be able to ride bikes on quiet neighborhood streets near water, too.

We had such a lovely time in camping within Lakeisha’s blueberry fields— brought back memories from when I was a little girl picking blueberries intended to make jam and most certainly gobbling most of them all up :) When we arrived there were two fold out chairs and dry bags for us to use during our stay which was very thoughtful. Our site was peaceful and accompanied by a wise old tree and some flowers in the picnic table, making us feel at home from the jump. The nostalgia mixed with these details really made our stay at Lakeisha’s blueberry fields very special.

Camp Nepenthe is a magical place! Just being there puts you in a relaxed state instantly! Everytime we stay we sleep better than ever...it's as if the earth, wind & sea know we need deep rest & they provide it...absorbing the stress & worries of the human side & bring us back to nature. PURE MAGIC! Having access to a dock is a bonus. The loop road is perfect for walking amd getting your steps in surrounded but nature. Kilene & Chris are the most gracious hosts...there if you need anything but also give you all the privacy and space you require. We dream of having a place like this to visit...so glad we feel at home there and plan to visit as much as we can. YOU SHOULD STAY! You will not be disappointed ♥️

This was a small paradise! Was exactly the way it was advertised on Hipcamp. It felt good that the host drove through a couple times a day with a smile and a wave. Nothing ever went wrong, but I thought if it did at least there was Support around.

Wild Serenity was an incredible spot to camp! The lake is gorgeous and quiet. Kat was very welcoming and showed me one of her favorite spots to camp on the beach. She also has lots of gear available to borrow and some kayak/canoes open to use which was so lovely. I definitely suggest this spot if your looking for a peaceful getaway!

Aroostook & the Highlands

Maine’s mountainous north is the stuff that hiker’s bucket lists are made of. The sprawling wilderness of Baxter State Park is the starting point of the epic Appalachian Trail and home to Maine’s highest peak—the 5,267-foot Mount Katahdin.
