Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping sits in the middle of our 50 acre Tree Farm. Campsites sit at the edge of small open fields are are spaced to give you the feeling of having your own space. We currently have two camping sites a Tree House and Camping Tent. The camping-related structures on our property are built with wood harvested from our tree farm and milled on-site. Deer regularly visit, the birds are constant company and other critters roam.
Accommodations include rest rooms, shower rooms (sites come with solar shower bags) fire pits and campfire wood.

1BSI is a nonprofit, off-grid island retreat on Annabessacook Lake in Maine where curious humans come to unplug, wander, and remember how to breathe at lake speed. It’s part glamping getaway, part community experiment, and part gentle mischief — a place where thoughtfully designed island stays (cabins, domes, tents, treehouses, and floating oddities) make simple living feel surprisingly luxurious. We handle the boats, the basics, and the behind-the-scenes magic so you can focus on the good stuff: nature, connection, quiet moments, and getting pleasantly reset by island life.
Getting settled is easy and intentionally uncomplicated. Bring a cooler of food and drinks, a few vacation clothes, and curiosity.
Getting here is part of the experience, and we make it smooth. Arrive by canoe, kayak, ferry, or your own boat, with free island transportation and parking included. You’ll have private access to your chosen site and shared access to the rest of the island — trails, docks, hammocks, swim spots, paddle gear, and sunset perches. Daytime visitors may pass through shared areas, as island tradition allows, but when evening settles in, the island's quiet takes over.

Arbor Camp is a collection of thoughtfully designed cabins and treehouses set on 30 private acres in the Maine woods offering a secluded forest retreat on the Union River—private and peaceful, yet just minutes from the shops, restaurants, and year-round charm of downtown Ellsworth. Located 30 minutes north of Acadia National Park, it’s an ideal base for exploring the mountains, woods, lakes, and rugged shoreline that define Downeast Maine.
With nearly half a mile of river frontage, a stream, and over a mile of hand-cut walking trails, Arbor Camp’s thirty acres provide ample space to unwind without leaving the grounds. Two cabins and a treehouse sit in an open field with wide views of the river and its passing wildlife. The remaining treehouses are thoughtfully spaced across 25 acres of quiet forest, offering privacy and a sense of deep immersion in the trees. Many enjoy filtered river views through the canopy.
Each season brings its own pleasures: temperate summer days and cool, starlit evenings; fall foliage and crisp air; the stillness of snow-covered woods in winter; and, in spring, a quiet reawakening as color and life return to the forest.
Arbor Camp began in 2022, when three friends came together to build a quiet place in the woods. Thirty acres along the Union River in Ellsworth offered the space—and the inspiration—for something lasting. The project was shaped by Maine’s camp tradition: simple, seasonal dwellings that invite stillness, comfort, and connection to the land.
We followed the path of an old roadbed to guide our layout, preserving as many trees as possible. Cabins and treehouses are spaced for privacy and quiet, and walking trails were cut by hand to follow the natural shape of the land.
Wildlife is part of daily life here. Songbirds call from the canopy. Heron and eagles pass overhead. Deer move through the understory, and turkeys wander the clearings. Mushrooms—chanterelles, black trumpets, and others—rise through the forest floor in season.
From the start, the idea was simple: to create a place that feels good to step into. Each of us brought different experiences—design, building, creative work—but shared a clear vision: spaces that are well made, deeply comfortable, and in tune with their surroundings.

For RV enthusiasts, we offer 6 serviced sites with electricity, water, and sewer, as well as 8 additional sites with electric hookups and water. We recommend RVs under 35 feet for the serviced sites, but larger vehicles can be accommodated on other sites.

Weekend Trip to Arbor Camp Acadia Cabins/Treehouses
This place was incredible! It was so cute and full of thoughtful touches that made our stay feel really special. From the friendly messages reminding us to bring slippers to the adorable s’mores kit, every detail felt intentional and welcoming. Everything was peaceful and quiet, and the location was perfect — conveniently situated between Bangor and Acadia/Bar Harbor while still being very easy to find. We would absolutely stay here again!

4 nights at Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping
I have nothing but good things to say about our experience here! It was a particularly hot week when we went and Cathy was gracious enough to come each day and swap our rechargeable fans with hers so we could stay cool. Jeff & Cathy made us feel incredibly safe + welcomed and gave great recommendations for places in the area. Aside from amazing hosts the campground itself was beautiful, well maintained, and serene. The hard work and love they have put into this place does not go unnoticed. The bathrooms and sink station were the nicest I’ve seen at a campground before and decorated so cutely! Overall a beautiful place I would recommend to anybody and would love to go back :)

The treehouse was such a fun experience! Highly recommend. Camp is super clean and the hosts are very friendly and they supplied so many items! Bathrooms were very nice and loaded with extra toiletry items. We can’t wait to go again !

Group trip
A group of us stayed at the Hummingbird Hideaway Tree House and loved it. A wonderful, fun structure in a beautiful outdoor setting. The additions of firewood, bug net, chairs, cooler, and portable grill were a huge plus. Bathrooms were close by and clean. The women really appreciated the extra amenities in the restroom too. The host was very kind and welcoming. We hope to be back someday!

Jeff & Cathy you are so kind, so happy we had the pleasure to meet you both. You can clearly see the passion you have for your camp ground/ land/ guests. My husband, my four littles and I, all felt warmly welcomed and well-informed. Thank you for our incredible family stay this past weekend. It was awesome knowing that we were the 1st to stay in your tree house hummingbird hideaway spot. It felt like a beautiful retreat all to ourselves. We will most definitely come again, and also be sure to recommend your campground to others. We were blown away by how everything was set up. Next time we can pack lighter knowing you have so much on hand right at the camp site. I wouldn't change a thing. If you wanted some friendly suggestions. I would recommend grips on the steps just to be safe, especially in wet weather. Maybe leave a broom/ first pan and add a screen door. Literally, if you didn't add any of these things your spot is still prefect! Very clean, loved the I forgot box you had out. Of course we forgot toothpaste haha Thank you again! Hope to see you both again in the near future for our next family getaway.
