We had a great stay at the KLT cabin. The cabin is close to Gardener and Augusta if you need to get more ice or food but it is super quite and remote. It was a truly rustic experience, not for the faint of heart. This is what Maine camps were meant to be.

This was a lovely spot to slow down and observe nature. We were entertained by a beaver, loons, flycatchers, a giant snapping turtle, a family of curious chickadees and millions of damselflies flitting over the water. Our kids loved swimming by the dock and canoeing around. This will be my summer memory to warm up when winter sets in! Thank you for sharing such a special place.

Beautiful and Peaceful
We stayed with our family of six in cabin 2 while our friends stayed in cabin 1. It was a wonderful 2 days. We spent so much time on the screened in porch, swimming and canoeing. The fire pit setting of cabin 2 on the slope is difficult and there is no easy access to the water. A dock for cabin two would be ideal. The cabin had not been cleaned very well by the prior renters. We worked to leave it nicer than we found it. They are beautiful, simple cabins where you are able to fully enjoy the peacefulness of nature.

Canoeing was awesome
The cabin had everything we needed and our family very much enjoyed the stay. Our kids loved canoeing and it was the highlight of our stay. Bug spray would be helpful to bring along.

Beautiful in the fall too :)
This was our third stay here and we love it every time- it’s always very quiet and relaxing We’re very happy we came back for fall (mid October). The view was beautiful with the fall leaves and with enough layers we were warm enough on the porch.

Eden like paradise.
When we parked our car and walked down the road to cabin , it was like shedding the the 21st century. The woods were filled with majestic Pine and the sounds of birds. Cabin 1 is three steps from the water and a dozen a dock. The stream is an old friend, the location a place I have been coming to for decades. It turns out the cabin 2 is a place that I have said to my wife repeatedly if that house ever comes up for sale...you get the idea.
We loved staying in the cabin. It is made for visiting, but still has enough amenities to feel homey. We like the low impact philosophy in practice. Solar powered lights, composting toilet, gas stove and hand pump are part of the low carbon footprint. If you like loons calling, canoe rides, hiking and swimming, playing cards and reading a book this is the place to visit.

Magnificent experience
Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary Cabin 1 was exactly what we were hoping for -- rusticly comfortable, remote, serene, and magical. The composting toilet was convenient and easy to use. The kitchen handpump was quaint, nostalgic, and helpful. The campfire space was inviting. The sturdy dock was a great fishing spot (my son caught a fish on his first cast).
The first morning two loons paddled through the quickly sliding mist over the stream. When the young loon fished too far away mom hauntingly called him back. Just overhead air rushed through the wings of honking geese before they splash landed on the stream. Saturday morning on the stream was full of waterfowl excitement!
We took the canoe for a lengthy paddle down the stream. We were astonished to watch an eagle attack a juvenile loon: the young loon dove deeply and mom did the penguin stance on water to defend him from the carnivorous eagle. Happily the eagle was disappointed and the teenage loon surfaced after an extended dive.
We loved every minute of this much-needed respite on the water!

Awesome off the grid cabin in a beautiful setting. Very low key with just the bare essentials. The included kayaks were a great touch and the fishing was fantastic!

Quiet Old Style Maine Camp
We had a great stay. The camp is not luxurious but it has a composting toilet, and a basic kitchen along with lighting. It's right on the water in a quiet location. It's on a stream that looks more like a river. We were in a cove where a loon family fought battles with an eagle that was determined to get their chick. One time it went right in the water after the chick. Great canoeing up and down the stream, not much of a current

The camp was perfect— beautiful, peaceful and right on the water! There was a family of loons singing in the cove all night long. We even saw a bald eagle a few times. The canoe was easy to get in the water, and there was no shortage of places to explore. Wonderful little getaway!

The siting of cabin #2, with a screened porch looking onto the water, was absolutely breathtakingly serene. Our family appreciated the local wildlife: the calling of the loons, fish jumping to catch flies, and the beaver taking a dip.

Amazing
One of a kind beautiful cabin with an even better location. Can’t get much closer to nature than this! All the sights and sounds of wildlife is incredible at this sanctuary. The screened in porch on the lake gets you right in nature without the pesky bugs. Bringing our own water really wasn’t bad at all and the composting toilet was surprisingly very clean and easy to use!

The Wakefield Eco-Cabins are an absolute dream. Beautiful and secluded property, on the magical Cobbosseecontee stream, it provides the best of the Maine outdoors while also being centrally located and ideal for day trips. Our group enjoyed the canoes, paddling alongside beavers and Kingfishers, while listening to the loons at night. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an escape to nature.

We really enjoyed this cabin. We especially loved the screened in porch - so much so that we slept there. We spent most of our time on the porch reading or out in the canoe. We weren't quite sure what to expect without any reviews. We were really happy with how cute and tidy it was, and how private it was. Everything listed as being provided was available, and the composting toilets weren't stinky :). Only downside was the stream had a lot of milfoil so we didn't swim. Would stay again!
