While staying at Red Wing Ranch you will have the opportunity to walk on a section of the original stagecoach road, canoe in our private pond, watch the sunset over the Pacific ocean, and star gaze from what feels like a private planetarium. This is perfect for artists, writers, yogis, and those seeking the tranquility of off grid living. We have 40 acres of land with beautiful hiking in every direction. Our campsites have a fire pit, picnic table, and access to an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen!
The accommodation includes staying in a 850 square foot wooden yurt with bamboo floors. The building has a wooden stove and propane wall heat. We also have a fridge, stove for cooking and propane wall heater inside the yurt. There is a futon that sleeps 2 plus a kids size bed, but please bring sleeping bags or bedding. You can also put up two tents next to the yurt for more sleeping.
We have now added also an attached kitchen and bathroom to the yurt so we have an indoor shower and full kitchen!
There is a detached bathroom with a maintenance free composting toilet and simple outdoor kitchen. You will have access to cooking utensils and cookware, camp stove, and fire pit. There is a solar system so you have access to electricity and wifi.
The drive from Willits is 25 minutes, with only the last 5 minutes on a dirt road. You can do the drive in any car, unless the occasional snowy conditions. There is plenty of parking next to the yurt for easy unpacking.. To access the coast you do have to go back through Willits and use highway 20.

Primal Lands at OZ Family Farm is set in the Rocktree Valley just East of Willits. We are a working family farm about 15 minutes, from the town center.
The camp sites are in a private pasture with views of snow capped mountains in the winter and a beautiful moon rising above the tree tops in the summer. There are two streams that the campsites are located next to. one seasonal and one year round. This peaceful valley is home to an extensive amount of wildlife. It hosts both wild pigs and turkeys as well as deer, bobcats, foxes, rabbits and an occasional mountain lion or bear have veen spotted. You should bring your binoculars because the valley is lined with acres upon acres of forests and wooded hills that are home to an incredible variety of birds and tree species.
We hope our primal land will help expose people to the diverse flora and fauna around them and help educate them to the need to protect the diversity in people, places and our planet. All of which bring an important piece of the puzzle to the table and hold keys to our past and future.
We hope to be able to have the honor of hosting many different groups that can gather here on this land for learning, teaching and cummuning with the nature that flourishes here.
There is an abundance of things to do in and around Willits. It can be your cozy get away to rest, read a book next to the sounds of the stream or hike and ride a bike or a horse down our dirt roads.
The Skunk Train in town can take you on a trip through through the Redwood Forest and Noyo River Canyon towards Fort Bragg. It stops along its route to see the Wolf Tree Redwood. The oldest along its tracks.
You also have the option of booking an excursion on the Railbikes which leave from both Willits or Fort Bragg and use the same train tracks.
If your driving to Fort Bragg you will want to go to Glass Beach on the coast and check out the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens or do a Scavenger Hunt.
There is also the Coast Redwood growing in Montgomery Woods State Park to our south having what was thought for a long time to be the tallest known tree in the world at close to 365 feet tall. It stands 5 stories higher than the Statue of Liberty.
In the town of Willits there a myriad of options. Eclectic shopping at Mazahan or Earths Treasures or classics at The GOOD Shoppe or Art in the Plaza. Gateway games offers weekly card and board game competitions or go visit Ridgewood Ranch, the final home of the legendary Racehorse Seabiscuit.
If camping , hiking and relaxing just isn't enough to fill your day there is golf available in Brooktrails and Mendocino County is home to ten different appellations of wine with over 25% dedicated to organic and sustainable farming.

You will need to text from Willits for us to meet you upon arrival. You will need to sign a waiver and we can show you to your location. We also will let you know if we have any farm raised products availaable to share.
There is no wifi available on the campsite but upon arrival we will direct you to the main farmhouse, walking distance if you need anything or need wifi

Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Stephen was very nice and accommodating, the honey and eggs we asked for were a nice addition too!"

The pond site is located on a private, internal dirt road, which provides for absolute privacy. It's like experiencing an outback camping experience with the amenities of car camping. A clean outhouse, a spigot with cold, delicious mountain spring water, and a bi-level campsite with picnic table is at the site. A fire pit and second picnic table is located next to the pond for a delightful stargazing experience.
The pond is a healthy, spring fed ecosystem and quite refreshing on those hot days. It is big enough for small kayaks, paddle boards, and rafts too.
NEW 2022 Pond Site Addition:
We have installed a new fire pit this year!! Upon your arrival, you will find
complimentary, match-light firewood set up in the pit for a warm welcome to your site. More firewood is available for purchase throughout your stay. It is illegal in California to travel across county borders with firewood. Firewood often has insect eggs or larvae that can devastate a forest. Please refrain from bringing firewood purchased or harvested from outside Mendocino County.
The Best Rest Along the Way:
We have created a “self-contained” dry campsite along our main road that is van and truck camping friendly, and can take travel trailers max 16’ length. This site has no amenities and is intended to accommodate people who need a place to catch a rest without sleeping on the roadside, although many do like it as a bear bones campsite.
We are conveniently located about 10 min from the 101, for easy in-and-out access. There are lengthy internal roads and trails for unwinding and stretching your legs. Did I mention that town is less than 10 minutes from your campsite? If you forget anything, it is no biggie to run and get what you need.

Established in 2012.Camp Noyo was first developed as a logging camp for the Union Lumber Company in 1907. Originally called "Camp Four," it was the fourth camp established by the lumber company as they progressed east from Fort Bragg along the current route of the California Western Railroad. In 1933, the Union Lumber Company donated the property to the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts began using the site in the summer 1934 and continue to use the property for several weeks every summer.In 2012, Allan Hemphill, his son Brian, and a small group of family friends purchased the property from the Boy Scouts. The Hemphill family has been care taking Camp Noyo for over 60 years. We decieded to open the property to the public in 2015 for camping in the summer.

Our group loved Plateau Camp. Having the tree cover was great and we liked the extra bit of privacy from Creekside 1 & 2. Stephen is a great camp host. He came and talked to my son and I when we arrived and gave a lot of useful information plus some history on the campground. And he loaned me a foot pump for fill my air mattress since my compressor didn't have the correct attachment. Our group choose this site because we were hoping to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower. The stargazing was fantastic. The field has no trees to obstruct the views and once we turned out all of our lights, there was no other manmade light to interfere. It made for a great experience. But, the best part of the whole trip was the swimming area. A spring feed section of the creek that is hidden beneath a canopy of trees provided a picturesque spot. We ended up spending a majority of the time there. We set out blankets to have a picnic, hung a swing from a branch over the swimming hole, and the kids loved being able to fish for minnows and tadpoles in the crystal clear water. This place is a jewel. We will definitely be back.

I loved that the sites are far apart and private. I was also lucky to have clear skies and moderate temps for Astrophotography. A hot shower would have been nice due to the dried out creek. Many thanks!!

My kids an I enjoyed having this as our home base for our adventures. The kitchen was decently stocked and anything we needed (even a pad when my air mattress gave out!) was taken care of right away. The land is beautiful and well kept and my boys enjoyed running around with the chickens and cats. Several fruit trees on the property and we made stewed apples from them. There were games and a cute little stereo with some good music to play the helped set the vibe. Out door showers were basic but the hot water was enough for my family of four and I really enjoyed my shower as the sun set. Hosts were very kind and accomodating and I look forward to putting this place on our map next summer. Close to the eel river and town is just 3 minutes away.

We had a really excellent time watching the Perseid meteor shower this weekend. The skies were plenty dark enough and the staff was very helpful. We accidentally booked the wrong ticket type but they were able to find a spot for us anyways. We will definitely be going back (with the correct ticket) again.

This was a wonderful stay! We booked this site last minute while on a road trip, and Hillary and her partner were very kind. The property is so thoughtfully decorated and put together, and the whimsical vibes were awesome. I would definitely stay her again and recommend it to a friend!

Lovely little cabin, friendly hosts, and beautiful property. As a heads up - the bathroom is about 10 yards from the cabin but it’s private and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

Camping here was a great time! The compost able toilet was decorated so cute and had no smell. The kitchen made cooking while camping significantly easier and the sink with hot water was a blessing. Site was so well kept and quiet. Would stay here again. Fresh eggs were so yummy as well as the fruits on the trees (Pears and apples)!

The location of candy cap is simply amazing! You are just 5 minutes from the beautiful wild coast line. The shower and fired sauna are absolutely wonderful. There are two bikes to use and wonderful bike path's right along the coast!
Wish I could have stayed longer!

2 nights at Mendocino Magic
The tent we stayed in was as expected, two comfy beds with clean linens and solar powered lighting. Other than the cute tent, this property is a basic campground with few amenities. The porta potties on site were either closed or VERY overdue for cleaning. When I brought this up to the owner she told me they would be cleaned the following day. While I believe she wiped them down, they were not pumped out. The potable water was stored in big jugs located a a central location next to the trash receptacles and a little locked building. This may be what they're referring to as the “Front Porch” on their website. The bags of ice were tiny, over priced and not “delivered” I didn’t notice a central fire pit or S’mores, nor was any of this mentioned to us. The owners cats roam freely on the grounds, ripping into trash bags at the central location, prowling around the cabins and one came into our tent and helped itself to snacks while we were out. You will have a much nicer experience at a state park campground.

Stacy’s camp has everything a traveler could hope for. Campsites are nice, perfect size with wood chip floor. The pavilion is what sets this place apart from others. Kitchen with fridge/freezer and huge sinks, nice clean bathroom, super cool open ceiling shower room with hot water. This property is very nice. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you Stacy!

The tent was so comfortable and spacious. Having a kitchen area with burners and a barbecue was awesome. One note, bring your own cooking pots etc. It was a very short walk from the car to the campsite. Quiet, great star watching and private.

Nice, level, well-cleared, shady campsite and cute and functional outdoor kitchen and composting outhouse set up. The road to the campsites is in great shape and it’s close to 101. so very easy access. I stayed one night on my road trip and was very comfortable.
