This magical place is far out there! We are providing a setting for those adventurers who want a place to REALLY "get away from it all." Expect a beautiful 30 minute drive on gravel roads through mature Redwood forest from the village of Mendocino. The property is also accessible from Fort Bragg via HWY 20 and road 408/Little Lake Rd. The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there. The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower. We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard. The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. Always be fire conscious - never burn outside of the fire pit and extinguish all fires before leaving or bed. You are free to relax in the natural beauty of this place, meditate while walking our earthen labyrinth or hike around the property along the ridge and on the logging roads that descend on each side. Please respect all signs and private residents. JDSF has extensive hiking and mountain bike trails accessible right from the cabin or a short drive away. Firepit, wood burning fireplace, private. Fire extinguisher is to left of front door when you are looking out to the deck.Smoke Detector/Alarm is on the beam in front of the wood stove (on bedroom side). Announcement is a very loud "FIRE!" plus the buzzer.Propane shut valve off is just behind the cooking range.We are vigilant about fire safety. Please, no candles, or open flames anywhere on the property except in the fire pit .The wood stove: Please keep children safely away from the woodstove. When in operation, its surfaces become quite hot and could cause burns. Do not place items on or near the stove.There is NO SMOKING allowed in the cabin. Smoking allowed at the fire pit only. Thanks!
Toilet available
Flush toilet. Septic: Toilet paper is the ONLY paper product that can go in the loo. NO feminine hygiene products or baby wipes, even if the packaging says ‘flushable’ or ‘biodegradable.’
Pets allowed
On leash. We do allow you to bring a pet but you must find and add the pet fee in the "Extras" section of the booking. Do not leave your pet unattended at the Aloha. The yard is fenced for your convenience while you are on site. You must take your pet with you when you leave. Do not leave them in the yard or inside the cabin.

Lovely stay on a unique property

The weekend went so quickly in Aloha cabin. It was a treat to ditch the car for a day as we were able to do a long mountain bike ride door-to-door from the cabin. The cabin was perfectly appointed for our family of 3. Cas was helpful with tips and notes on trails but left us to our own devices to explore the area. It's so generous of Cas to share this special spot.

Aloha Cabin
Our stay was great and the experience was unexpected in all the best ways. The cabin felt modern and clean with enjoyable rustic touches. Unlike other cabins we've been to, at Aloha you're really out in the woods. The seclusion was peaceful and enjoyable during the day, and at night it was a little eerie and uncomfortable (but still great). The layout of the house with the fenced yard was perfect for our dog. Our dog enjoyed it and we felt secure letting her roam in the yard. It was nice that we had so much land to explore. We look forward to going back.

Absolutely incredible find! The cabin was every bit as beautiful as described, tucked away in the stunning old-growth redwood forest. The wood stove made it feel warm and cozy, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the whole space had such a peaceful, magical atmosphere. We loved our stay and only wish we had more time to explore the surrounding area. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a lovely three day weekend at the Aloha Cabin in Mendocino. The cabin was clean and well-stocked with kitchen supplies, and we especially enjoyed having a small fridge on site for perishables. The enclosed yard was big enough for three tents, large sun shade, and more. It was also helpful to have clean, hot running water on site to do dishes and shower. The cabin is pretty deep in the woods, but the drive isn’t too challenging. Our group was able to take a day trip into Fort Bragg for fresh seafood to grill back at the campsite, which was also an added bonus. Will definitely return!

What an excellent experience! Comfortable bed/loft, great shower, nice amenities (fridge, stove, firepit, etc.). Instructions very clear for finding the place, and it really is a beauty. Met Cas briefly as we were leaving, and he was very sweet.

My partner and I had a beautiful time at the cabin! We took the trip because of our oldest dog. He has some health issues so we wanted to give him some space to run with our other dog. We had to reschedule our booking a couple of times and Cas was really accommodating for this. Can't wait to be back soon!

This was our second stay at this magical cabin, and it was just as wonderful as the first. This time we brought our two dogs, who absolutely loved exploring the forest. Being surrounded by old growth redwoods is something special: the quiet and the sense of being completely immersed in nature. The cabin itself is cozy, comfortable, and has everything you need. Cas is an excellent host, very helpful and quick to respond, and made everything easy from start to finish.

Simple and quiet off-grid getaway

We loved our stay at this simple and comfortable off-grid spot. The covered porch was an amazing place to sit and enjoy the rainfall. Hot water works well, which makes the outdoor shower relaxing and invigorating. The property is incredibly quiet at night and all three of us slept well during our stay. Thanks so much for hosting!

Great piece of secluded acreage to explore / rest / recoup / revive. The cabin was perfect for my family of 5 plus 1 dog. It had just what we needed for the stay. great spot if you have pets since there is a generous sized fenced in area. Secluded enough for a peaceful tranquil stay but not too far (30 min) to explore in Fort Bragg and Mendocino coast. We met Cas and his dog on our first walk exploring the property. Cas was a friendly guy who was very informative and helpful when we had questions on what to do around the area and history of the property. We look forward to hopefully staying there again some day.

The property is filled with history and ancient roots. We absolutely loved the warm cabin with all the special additions (the labyrinth, fire pit, walking trails, outdoor shower….). We hope to come back again.

We (two humans, one dog) had a wonderful time at the Aloha cabin. It is extremely remote and private, as advertised. We had some issues with the gate and the pump, and the host was very responsive and helpful, and can be onsite if needed. I had one bar of service when I sat on the couch. The front yard with the fire pit is nice and large and fully fenced. We appreciated the fenced yard and the system of latching gates around the front porch. Made it easy to let our doggie run around the yard without worrying about her getting out. The land is beautiful and lovely to walk around on, even (especially?) in the rain with high winds. Already planning our next trip!

Really beautiful spot. Just as pictured. The drive is also stunning. Recommend to do during daylight. One of our dogs is very elderly and this was a nice option for him with relatively few stairs. Flat fenced yard and other flat areas/roads to walk. Very quiet and nice. Would love to come back.

We had a wonderful stay at Aloha Cabin! The property is secluded, peaceful, and perfect for unplugging. We loved exploring the abundant land, and the night sky was incredible—we could even see the Milky Way. The yard and fire pit made evenings extra cozy, and our pets enjoyed it just as much as we did. Inside, the wood stove kept us warm and comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. The cabin has a charming, eco-friendly feel with cool history and plenty of books to browse. It was exactly the cozy getaway we were hoping for. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Aloha Cabin sits among beautiful trees and a quiet forest - perfect for real quiet time in nature. Going off-grid, watching the fire glow at night, and then curling up in a cozy, comfortable cabin that had everything we needed felt so good. Cas was helpful and quick to respond, and the books about the farm’s story made the place feel personal and special. We’d recommend this cabin to our best friends - and we’d love to come back.

My boyfriend and I loved it here! You really feel, and are, separated from everything and it’s great that the cabin has everything you need. So incredibly peaceful and we really appreciated all the trails that were left for us on a map inside the cabin. You see the rare biker group or car pass by but other than that, no one else around. Bit of a rough drive once you get off the highway but if you come prepared with a car that can handle that, you’ll be just fine.

Adorable off grid cabin in the heart of Jackson demonstration forest with beautiful redwood trees and roads and trails right outside your doorstep. Very comfortable and super easy communication. A great getaway for sure!

This was such a cool and peaceful place to stay for a few days. We stayed for 3 nights and it was wonderful. Cas was communicative and helpful. The property was peaceful and there was lots to do. Everything on the listing page is accurate. We would definitely consider visiting again if we decide to go back to that area. Loved it!

Old Mill Farm is a super sweet, peaceful area for camping with a quaint cozy lil cabin with kitchen & bathroom. We loved having fires outside in the evening. It is a ways out, but totally worth the beautiful drive through the Jackson State Forest. It’s a magical little oasis! ✨🌲🏕️

The nature of the property was breathtaking. The cabin was very charming and had all the features we needed. Loved staying on the top loft. It was great having a fire pit and plenty of space for tent camping outside, which my brother wanted to do. Cas was very responsive and hospitable. There is just everything you need to make this camping experience exactly what you want it to be.

This was just an incredible stay for our family at the Aloha cabin. It was the perfect amount of disconnect and comfort. Most of my family slept outdoors in tents and hammocks, but two of us slept indoors on a comfy bed. The hot shower was amazing, and the option to cook all our food was ideal. We spent some days at the beach and exploring the coast, and other days at the cabin soaking in the magical redwoods and serene environment. Cas was an exceptional host that provided a beautiful home and absolutely perfect setup. We will be back!
