This 60 acre property is located approximately 3 miles east of San Gregorio Beach in the San Gregorio area. There is no home here, only a travel trailer on the Upper Meadow. It is very peaceful, quiet and beautiful throughout the seasons.
We are 5 minutes away from the San Gregorio General Store and cafe and 20 minutes from Alice's Restaurant. We have great cell coverage for Verizon, AT&T and Visible. Experience shows that T-Mobile does not work here and I don't know about the other internet providers.
There are four campsites, each with easy 4WD access. Two of the sites offer total isolation with amazing views while the third site, while in a nice setting, is more useful for a quick overnight stay with no views of the ocean or canyon. Please note that five easy-going cows (no bulls) reside on this property.
Dear winter and spring campers, please consider using "Sensible Weather" for your trip protection in the event of heavy rain or even high temperatures in the summer and fall. I have not used this insurance feature but the description makes it look worth considering, available when reserving on Hipcamp.

Our Farm, Animals & Presence
Fancy Camp shares the property with our small working farm, so you’re guaranteed to meet a few of our residents during your stay. You may also see us tending to the land and animals throughout the day—we always try to do so respectfully and as discreetly as possible.
Messy & Salma, two of our dogs, keep watch over the chickens and goats. If you hear them barking at night, they’re simply doing their job protecting the land and its animals. Our chickens also get an early start, so they may occasionally provide your natural morning alarm.
Our friendly goats roam the property during the day and may wander over for pets and nuzzles. They’re gentle and curious, but please don’t feed them or invite them inside your tent. The same goes for our cats and other dogs, no matter how convincing they may be!
If you ever need assistance with any of the animals, please reach out to us before 8:00 pm.
Recharge from the day with a hot shower. Grab your fresh towels from your tent and go to your outdoor allocated bathhouses, where you’ll find an indoor shower and well-appointed restrooms. They are nicely lit and stocked with bath products.
A sink area is available for dish clean-up, a bbq/picnic area, fire pit & cedar wood hot tub (to be booked separately).
KM is famous for its hiking and biking trails nestled amongst the redwoods. The closest is a 15-minute walk from our campsite, and others are within a 15-minute car ride.

One mile away is Harvey Bear County Park, with trails for bikes, horses or walking. We are 5 minutes from the Gilroy Outlets, yet a world away from the hustle and bustle! Come, relax and enjoy nature! Enjoy Gilroy Gardens (seasonally) or go hiking at a nearby State or County Park. Or just relax at the Farm.

Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'!
The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward.
'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here.
This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

With a fair balance of sunlight and shade, we have a garden and lots of open space to spread out and relax. Free wifi is available. We run a nonprofit outdoor education camp for underprivileged youth, so your stay supports our work to get youth outdoors.
Winter lodging....
It can get seasonably cold in the Santa Cruz Mountains during the winter. If visiting in the winter, rest assured we have everything covered to enjoy your stay. We have propane heaters for warmth and comfort. If the power goes out, we have a standby generator that will power up camp provided we are home to turn it on. We have woodstoves in the Owl's Nest and Eagle's Nest. The Forbes Island off-grid event venue and campground are at Bradford Island in the Sacramento River Delta. The floating barge is moored next to our private ranch, utilized for tent and RV camping for larger groups. We limit rentals to single groups for ultimate privacy in a natural setting. You and your guests enjoy the remote Sacramento River Delta wetlands while being only a short drive from the Bay Area. Guests have direct access to water sports and private docks.
*Note: Forbes Island requires passage via the Bradford Island car ferry (see schedule below), a personal watercraft, or a captained passenger ferry boat that must be booked in advance. Boat dock space is included.
History:
Forbes Thor Kiddoo came to San Francisco in 1959 after a stint in the Coast Guard. A carpenter and engineer, he developed a business constructing houseboats in Sausalito. Then, inspired by Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo and the movie version of “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”, Forbes Kiddoo built himself an underwater home, complete with portholes for watching the fish swim past, a diving hatch and a grand bedroom suite fit for a captain of his private world. In the ’90s, Forbes added a 40-foot lighthouse and a white picket fence.
Today, a small group of committed friends has preserved and kept Forbes Island afloat for community events, opening it for all to experience and enjoy. Your rental helps us to maintain this totally unique, fabulous find into the future.
FAQ
Are day campers included in the total guest count, or does it only apply to overnight guests? All campers, whether they are staying overnight or not, must be included in the reservation.
Can additional guests be added after the initial booking? Yes, you can modify your trip to add more guests through the Hipcamp app, but you cannot exceed the maximum capacity.

Forbes Island is a historic architectural folly built on a floating barge, with indoor spaces above and below its deck. The venue is adjacent to private land available to add-on to your booking, for camping and RV parking. Guests may sleep in any of the following places on the property:
1. Top Deck: Open-Air Camping
2. Top Deck Tiki Room: Indoor room, no furnishings
3. Below Deck Bedroom 1: Full Bed with attached bathroom
4. Below Deck Bedroom 2: Queen Bed
5. Below Deck "Living Room" and Bar: Indoor room, no furnishings
6. Adjacent field available for tent and RV camping.
*Note: the barge has two functional bathrooms with toilet and sink that uses non-potable water, no showers onboard.

This is a magical spot for our family and we can’t wait to share it with yours. You will be the exclusive campers on the property after booking and the owners will reside in their house.

Guests are responsible for bringing their own camping gear. Of note, the main campsite is 1/2 mile hike from parking and has a portable camping toilet setup.
One of our favorite spaces is the barn area which has a fire pit, multiple seating areas with views, an oversized picnic table, bocce ball, a grill and even a TV. This is a must hangout spot during the evenings for many guests before they hike back up to the campsite to retire for the night. There is also a portable toilet at the barn for guest convenience.
Moon Crest Valley Ranch is located less than 10 minutes from the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay and 15 minutes from scenic Main Street Half Moon Bay.
We are also only 1/2 mile away from the Purisima Creek Redwoods Preserve Trailhead that has an additional 30+ miles of gorgeous trails to explore. Bring your hiking shoes or bike!

The site was beautiful and private. The kids and dogs enjoyed swimming in the pond. The outdoor shower was refreshing at the end of a hot day.
We towed an 18' camper with our Volvo XC90 suv. There is one steep spot on the road to the site that took us a couple tries to climb, but we're novice at towing.

We had such a wonderful time at this campsite! A huge thank you to Mark and Karen for being so patient, kind, and accommodating throughout all of our planning. We were a large group, and we had been communicating and planning this trip for about a month. They were incredibly helpful in accommodating our needs, especially with the number of cars and tents we were bringing.
We also loved having the farm right there. Being able to pick fresh vegetables and cook with them was such a special experience! The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and the peaceful, quiet surroundings made it the perfect place for our group to relax, bond, and spend hours talking and enjoying each other’s company.
We all loved the chickens and the rooster, the Wallace! We said hello to Wallace, and he was such a beautiful and smart guy. 😊

Weekend Trip to Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views
Tent camping here was the most magical combination of glamping and wilderness. ✨ From the moment we arrived, being surrounded by the sweetest, friendliest animals made it feel like our own little hidden world in the woods. So peaceful, homey, and safe.
Soaking in the hot tub surrounded by incredible views felt unreal, and ending the night under the trees and stars with the wood-burning stove keeping our tent warm and cozy made the whole experience unforgettable. It truly felt like we had escaped into a little fairytale for the weekend.
Thank you so much to Sana and William for being incredibly warm and welcoming and making this beautiful place feel like home. This is absolutely a must-see, must-do experience, and we can’t wait to come back. 🌲✨

7 nights at Sacred Owl Land
I cannot recommend SOL more highly. My husband and I were in Monterey for car week and rather than stay in a hotel with the crowds, we opted for a quieter accommodation outside the city. We had the perfect mix of relaxation while being close enough to drive to many local activities, parks, etc. We are really grateful that we chose to stay here. The Sky View camp was super cute and included all of the basic amenities that we needed. And the views were outstanding - we were in awe of the misty fog that hung over the valley when we woke up and looked out the beautiful large windows in the mornings! The nighttime views were just as spectacular. Lastly, the hosts were spectacular! Very nice and offered many great recommendations. I would love to return and stay here again!

Wonderful place. Peaceful with views of the ocean to one side and rolling hills on the other. Saw a Bobcat, heard coyotes and Hawks. Will definitely be back. 25 mins from Half Moon Bay and 13 miles to Alice's Restaurant.

Doug and Denise were incredible hosts! Doug was especially generous with his time, showing our kids around the ranch and making them feel so welcome. We also really enjoyed a hike down to the creek.
The campsite itself was exactly what we were looking for: peaceful, private, and very secluded from both the main house and the other campsite on the property. It felt like we had our own little corner of the ranch.
We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this property to other Hipcampers!

This is easily one of my experiences using Hipcamp. The site has beautiful views over Pescadero all the way out to the ocean, has a beautiful garden, and a wonderful setup of picnic tables, a gas burner, and room to cook.
Mark and Karen were also incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating which made us feel so taken care of and at ease. Truly 5 stars

Weekend Trip to Double Bear
I loved Double Bear. Mathilda was a super host answering all my questions in advance and then checking- in to ask if we needed anything. The Yurt Bear Hollow was spectacular. So clean! Everything impeccable! Same for bathrooms and kitchen. The dirt road is challenging first, but doable and after we did a trip to a state park and came back, it felt so much easier the second time. It is a small price to pay to be so close to Los Gatos but so immersed in the wilderness. This place has the perfect balance of rustic setting but with all the basic comforts that makes a quick weekend trip easy or a long term comfortable. The wifi worked very well. We enjoyed the fire pit and the jacuzzi. It was my first time in the area so we travelled to Big Basin state park but it is still impacted from the last fire so we went to Henry Cowell state park which was much nicer. I am recommending this place to all my friends and I hope I can come back soon. Next time, I would like to bring a great book and hang out more in the property and explore the creek. Such a great place to just relax and be.

The experience on Kings Mountain Fancy Camp could not have been better. Everything was so considerate and crafted with love, it made our stay an experience we'll never forget. The tent, the lovely animals, the fresh eggs - I wouldn't have changed a thing. Sena and family are just lovely hosts and we will definitely be coming back!
