Looking for a place to relax, recharge or explore surrounding areas of Santa Cruz and Monterey counties? Vega Vortex is home to the Gaia Health Retreat which possesses vortex energy! Expect a warm greeting upon arrival. Parking is close to our Vega Vortex sign and a short walk to your tent. Filtered potable water, electricity, shower/toilet with "on demand" hot/cold water are available. Instructions for use are available should you need assistance. Experience 3 campsites: Tent Spot (#1) 10'x10', Tent Spot (#2) 8'x8' or an onsite Bell tent complete with carpeted padded flooring, camp lights, shelving, 2 bed frames each with a memory foam mattress plus bedding. All sites have shaded areas, and picnic tables. *A shower and a compost toilet are available for use to all campers. Enjoy a designated smoking/vaping spot, multiple benches, swings, a "grounding" spot, birding, water fountains and art. A no noise policy by the county occurs at 9 pm. Due to a high risk fire zone, no open fires (small camp stoves are ok). Due to the proximity of the tents right next to Vega Rd, sounds from vehicles can be heard. We are situated in a rural neighborhood setting, with sounds of sheep, goats, chickens, wild turkeys, dogs and many birds nestled between both counties. The terrain is hilly with a few gopher holes. Staying on paths limits poison oak exposure. While respecting your privacy, we can be seen improving the property. *For precautionary measures, we ask that you sign our waiver within 12 hours after you book your reservation. "YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STAY IF YOU DO NOT SIGN THE WAIVER." Vega Vortex has been called a Park and Machu Picchu due to the amphitheater landscaping of terracing. Practicing permaculture, a diversity of pollinating plants/ flowers, organic garden and art features exist. Minutes away from National Parks, the Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz Beach Board Walk, Roaring Camp Train, Monterey Bay Aquarium, National Steinbeck Center, Moss Landing, Elkhorn Slough/Canoe/Kayak, Estuaries (bird watching), golfing and multiple beaches. As a gift for staying here, you may receive either a bottle of "structured" water, a healing tincture, salve, a bottle of infused olive oil or another healing product curated from the Vega Vortex!

A shower and a compost toilet are available to all campers with an "on demand" hot/cold water and can be found in the shower and sink in the bathroom. To find us, an unmarked road, listed on maps is "Country Lane" (we call it Vega Vortex Rd). The tent is a short walk from where you will park.. Expect a warm greeting upon arrival. Nearby electricity will be available for devices. Rest on a secure leveled wooden platform. It is covered with a rain fly, for possible rain, and acts as an insulator for warmth. The Bell tent contains carpeted padded flooring, camp lights, shelving, 2 bed frames with memory foam mattresses. For enhanced convenience: bedding of cotton sheets, down comforter, and down pillows. Shade and sunlight can be experienced in the tent. A wall is situated outside of the tent to minimize, sounds and lights from cars on Vega Road (earplugs are provided for added comfort). Trash/Recycle bins, a clothesline and a dedicated picnic table are situated close to the tent. A shower and a compost toilet are available for all campers. An "on demand" hot/cold water can be found in the shower and sink in the bathroom. Filtered drinking water is available outside of the shower. My husband and I loved camping here, Thaddeus and Mona were so welcoming and warm it felt like we'd known them for years ! The entire stay was so relaxing and calming, if I ever find myself in the area I would 100% come back.

Successful birthday trip for mom

Thaddeus (and Mona in spirit) made my mom’s birthday camping trip such a delight! Not only are the grounds beautiful, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed, but Thaddeus surprised us with a birthday card and flowers at our tent when we came back to camp that evening! The site itself - with a wind break, shelving, drying line, and picnic table - provides a nice step between traditional camping and glamping, which was the right balance for my mom who’s new to sleeping outside (but thanks to this experience can’t wait for her next trip!). The bathroom and shower are really convenient and well maintained. We slept with the rain fly off and woke up to chirping birds and a gorgeous tree canopy, and my mom’s spent the morning reading in a swing while I slept in some more. Overall we had such a joyful time together, and meeting Thaddeus was the cherry on top! My mom has been telling all of her friends and family about this trip so I’m sure she’ll be back in no time with more in tow. Thank you so much!

I loved tent camping at Vega Vortex. The land is beautifully tended to and there are great features like hot water, showers, swings and a compost toilet for guests to enjoy. Myself and my partner were welcomed warmly by Thaddeus and Mona and given gifts of structured water, herbal medicine and information about the power of water! We enjoyed our stay and wish it could have been longer. We’re excited to go back again

Thank you so much to Thaddeus and Mona for your lovely hospitality! This space is not only beautiful but well organized with lots of thoughtful amenities. Me and a friend needed a place to sleep on our journey from Arcata, CA to the Greater LA area. We have never stayed at a Hipcamp before, and we are used to general camping/backpacking with limited resources. This Hipcamp felt like the four seasons for us! Lovely walkways, plenty of native plants with viewing areas, privacy screens, potable filtered water, hot shower and sink water, and an eco-conscious compostable restroom. One of my favorite parts of my experience however was connecting with the hosts. They are genuine, kind souls who truly care about their guests and giving you the best experience. I highly recommend staying with them if you're in the area if you want to be taking care of!!

This was such an amazing Hipcamp experience! Thaddeus and Mona were amazing hosts - gave privacy but were still so accessible if we needed anything. They greeted us with gifts and a tour of the property - would definitely come back to stay if we were ever in the area again. The showers and bathrooms were also very clean and easily accessible hot water, and the property itself is absolutely beautiful.

Thaddeus & Mona are absolute sweethearts & their cute garden camping area is a beautiful labor of love ❤️ Although they thoughtfully provided earplugs for the (quiet!) road, they were not only not needed…but I slept soundly for 10 wonderful hours. With a on demand hot shower & delux composting toilet…it’s more like glamping. This spot’s a gem. 💎💜🌈🪷🕉️

Mona and Thaddeus are gems, as is their property. The spot was a perfect size for our tent. The shower and bathroom are so impressive, honestly. We had a lovely stay for two nights and highly recommend Vega Vortex- Gaia Health Retreat!

Thaddeus and Mona were so intentional with the space they made. They were great hosts, and the bell tent was super cozy and we had everything we needed. They also added special touches that made us feel welcome and cared for. We especially enjoyed the different garden areas and benches on the property. We would love to be back!

Thaddeus and Mona are the kindest hosts that I have experienced. The tent site met all my needs with a beautiful terrace, spacious table, and bathroom with showers close by. It’s Hipcamp, including miniature ponies and goats on the other side of the road. It’s in the heart of a major agricultural setting, surrounded by wilderness, so expect the occasional sound of roosters and coyotes, but it’s all part of the Hipcamp experience. I slept well. I will be back!

The Vortex was the perfect place to disconnect and take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. Thaddeus and Mona were incredibly welcoming - I felt right at home the moment I arrived. The tent and bathroom facilities were impeccable. They truly thought of everything to make the experience seamless, from automatic lights to earplugs if you’d rather not hear the sounds of the surrounding farms (I personally loved it). The energy there is spectacular. I only wish I had stayed longer than one night!

Thaddeus and Mona were the most gracious and lovely hosts!! I never remember to review places, but am making a review because of how wonderful our stay was. The location is gorgeous, truly a fairy land! We brought our own tent and the site was clean and well made, nice and level with partition walls for privacy. They had motion sensing lights and rope lights to be able to see at night for our set up which was great! The bathroom and shower was spotless and functional, there was a thoughtful outlet to charge devices near the campsite as well as filter drinking water! We didn’t get a chance to check out the rest of the property the next morning, but can’t wait to go back to experience the many swings on the property. There are sheep and pigs in the field across the road as well, so cute! There is a big of vehicle noise due to the road but it didn’t bother us at all. Highly recommend this site!!

I stopped here on a trip between the central coast and the bay and I'm very glad that I did. The amenities are very well thought out and the location itself is beautiful. There is some road noise, but it didn't prevent me from sleeping and the hosts were kind enough to provide a pair of earplugs just in case. I would happily stay here again if I was passing through the area!

Thaddeus and Mona are the sweetest and their place is amazing! It’s a beautiful property and you can tell they take pride in it and put a lot of work into the guest experience. They really wanted feedback on how to keep improving but honestly I had no complaints- between the homemade welcome gift, hot shower, beautiful gardens, affordable price point, and clear communication, my stay was perfect :)

We loved staying at Vega Vortex! Thaddeus and Mona were so sweet, giving us a tour of the property upon arrival. The tent was spacious. The beds kept us very comfy and warm at night. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. The property is beautiful!
