This unique guest house offers one bedroom with a queen bed, and a full size sofa bed in the living room. We loved the experience on Alan’s huge farm, and my kids had a great time with the dogs. At night, the sounds of all kinds of animals create a natural symphony. My girls were a little scared of the dogs at first, but they ended up having great fun with them.
You may need to lower your expectations regarding the facilities, bathrooms, and dining area, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the nature and animals.
Alan is a great host. He is in his 80s, in very good shape, and reminds us of our grandpa.

The cottage was cute and I could tell there had been a lot of attention paid to details. The bathtub was fabulous and after long walks out looking at birds, this was just the place I wanted to be.

The space was wide open and flat with perfect ground for tent camping. It was a bit hard to find a spot in the dark so highly suggest planning to set up before dusk, but there were a few light posts present. Check in and check out was simple, fast, and requires no human interaction. Area seems very safe - even more so with the fancy high tech gate system into the ranch - and the nearby downtown area is fancy. The restroom/shower room was clean but can be a bit of a walk from the camp sites, so plan accordingly. Morning dew made it so that your socks are likely to get wet making it to the restroom!

Slide Ranch is hands down one of the best tent campsites in the Bay Area. Coastal views, private, with the amenities you need and nothing else. When packing for a trip to Slide Ranch, approach it as if you're going backpacking ...while the ~10-minute walk is short, it's far enough that return trips to the car to lug gear will add up quick. Pack light and enjoy the peace and quiet!
