Amazing glamping spot. So much was taken care of that I didn't need to worry about putting things together. This made the experience even more peaceful and calming. Sana and Jairo were super helpful during booking, arrival, and the stay. I highly recommend this spot to anyone. It truly made for some wonderful family memories.

Dino was an A1 host!!! Walking distance to the metropolis of Locke and Walnut Grove. Before leaving you must take a tour of the resort to appreciate the stay!!!

Dino’s place was great! The property was cool, spacious, and peaceful. There were miles of hiking trails right out the back of the property, and a little boat ramp about a 3-5 minute walk that we would have used for paddling if the weather was better. The town of Locke is a very short walk and was an amazing bit of little-known history, also had some cool shops. There are a couple restaurants a short walk or drive away. Dino was very hospitable and we loved our stay! We’ll be back for sure. Oh, and I should add our dogs enjoyed exploring the area too :)

Weekend Trip to Dreamy California Coast Airstreams
I enjoyed a lovely weekend in Airstream 3. The setting offers incredible views of the Pacific and the California coastline, and the arrival instructions were very clear. The airstream is comfortable, well-appointed, and includes all expected amenities aside from food. The cozy interior and the sound of the rain contributed to a very relaxing atmosphere.
The only drawback is that Airstream 3 is outfitted with twin beds, which may not be ideal for couples. This wasn’t clearly noted in the online description, so it would be helpful to include that for future guests. Overall, a beautiful and memorable stay.

Weekend Trip to Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views
We came for a weekend where it was rainy and slightly cold, yet still had a magical, rejuvenating, wonderful experience. The animals around the farm, the views, the cozy tents, all culminate to make a magical and unique experience. The hosts were very friendly and super responsive-this is a very special place, can’t recommend enough!

Always a dream to camp with my family at Slide Ranch. My son has been camping here since he was a toddler so he feels right at home. We set up camp and immediately headed down to the tide pools as the sun set. Warm and clear, though it was a windy start to the night so come prepared with layers and tent stakes. As we headed out, my son asked if we could promise to come back more often 💚

Overview
About
Amid the gorgeous East Bay hills, Anthony Chabot Regional Park features hiking, horse riding, bicycling, and camping. The landscapes constantly change around you—from grasslands and shaded groves to the shores of Lake Chabot—as 70 miles of hiking trails await. Chabot, which spans more than 3,300 acres, is a 20-minute drive from downtown Oakland and easily accessible from Interstate 580. Compact tent sites, backpacker camping, group camping, and family camping are all available, with barbecue pits, fire rings, potable water, bathrooms, and picnic tables, plus hot showers at the family campground. Firewood and charcoal are both available for purchase on-site.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve any of the 75 family camping sites online via Reserve America. There are 53 drive-up, 10 walk-in and 12 RV sites. The seven group sites and the backpacking Two Rocks site are only available via phone.
- Reservations are recommended year-round, and can be made up to 12 weeks in advance for family camping, and no more than 30 days in advance and up to five days in advance for backpacker camping.
- Campground gates are locked nightly at 10pm, so no entry is available until 8am each morning.
When to go
Anthony Chabot Regional Park is open year-round. Weekends, spring, and summer are typically the busiest times, as is the case with most East Bay Regional Parks and Northern California campgrounds. The park is a pleasant visit any time given the mild East Bay climate. Going before Memorial Day and after Labor Day can help you avoid some of the largest crowds.
Know before you go
- Lake Chabot is relatively close to three major cities: Oakland (20 minutes away by road), San Francisco (25 minutes), and San Jose (40 minutes). Gas, groceries, and restaurants can be found in nearby Castro Valley.
- While the park has potable water, it’s best to bring in drinking water. Firewood and charcoal are both available for purchase onsite, helping car campers and backpackers save space.
- Equipment isn’t available onsite, but fishing is allowed on Lake Chabot. That’s in addition to the campground’s access to hiking and mountain biking trails.

This is a beautiful campground in the hills outside of Oakland and in the eucalyptus forest. There are mountain biking trails and it's about 20 minutes drive to the nearest BART station if you want to head into the city. Beware of poison oak and, in the rainy season, ticks (especially if you have pets). There are quirky rules about reserving a site. You either have to do it several days in advance or one day at a time once you're there. Regardless, it's a lovely area and super clean campground with both tent sites and full RV hook up sites.

There has been some recent (2016) closures on certain sites, if you are a frequent visitor and have a favorite spot like my husband and I, you may want to check the map to see if your beloved spot is still available. This is a beautiful place to camp locally in the bay area. Great hiking and especially great for little ones. In the summer months they even have lessons/ activities or movies in the common area.
