The price of camping includes the Ranch experiences of feeding the animals and collecting eggs. Our property is great for children! We have a trampoline, a tree house, a large livestock water trough that we use as a kiddie pool in summer, a great swing set, and room to play.
We live on a quiet 10 acre property with trees that provide some shade, and all of our sites are near the horse pastures. You might hear horses nickering and chickens clucking. There is lots of room to walk or run around. A Treehouse is available for kids to play in, a trampoline to jump on, plus we have a 17 foot high swing for kids and adults alike! You can walk the property to observe the horses, or sign up for a special horse, tractor, or welding experience.
Come camp in a very quiet and safe horse and farming area. We are near the end of a dead-end road. Our camping sites are somewhat private, some with more shade and others with more mid-day sun.
We specialize in "Horse Experiences" tailored to your level of comfort and needs. None of the horse experiences listed on our site require any prior experience with horses. We will make sure you are safe and comfortable while working with the horses.
*NOTE: Experiences are not available on Sundays (our sabbath day). We can fit them in on Saturday afternoon/evening for Saturday-night campers, or Monday morning for Sunday-night campers.
We have a private bathroom with flush toilet and sink.
Summertime brings hot days and (usually) cool nights to our area. It is not uncommon to experience 100 degree days in June, July and August. Most evenings cool down, thanks to the Delta Breeze, to around 60-70 degrees overnight. Wintertime brings cooler daytime temps (50-60 degrees) and colder night temps (30-40 degrees).
We are located about 10 minutes from the Galt area, which has a large variety of Fast-food, as well as several nicer restaurants. There is also a Wal-Mart (with groceries) and a nice Supermarket. We are about 6 miles from 2 country stores in Herald and Wilton (with gas station).
Sites accommodate up to 6 people, and you can add up to 2 more for an additional fee. If you need more than 8 people, then consider booking 2 or more sites.
With horses and the activities we do with them, dogs are not allowed.

Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'!
The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward.
'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here.
This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

quiet dead-end road located on a cul-de-sac make for extremely peaceful parking and relaxing with near zero noise except for the occasional neighbors dog barking. our back yard hill butts up to back diamond regional mines park which is 50 square miles california state park that offers hiking and mine tours from California's coal mining and gold searching days. Boating is available on the San Joaquin River delta that is the headwaters of the San Francisco Bay. the marina and waterfront are about 3 Miles away by the way the crow flies and visible from the top of our backyard hillside.
Also downtown San Francisco can be accessed from the property via the Bart train that has two stations nearby. One is 6 miles away and another is 3 miles away. I bike/ train to San Francisco almost daily from this property.
EV parking or charging coud be accessed also. we have a nacs or tesla charger at two locations that are sloped down in grade. one slow charger (3 mph and one faster one about 13mph)

The Forbes Island off-grid event venue and campground are at Bradford Island in the Sacramento River Delta. The floating barge is moored next to our private ranch, utilized for tent and RV camping for larger groups. We limit rentals to single groups for ultimate privacy in a natural setting. You and your guests enjoy the remote Sacramento River Delta wetlands while being only a short drive from the Bay Area. Guests have direct access to water sports and private docks.
*Note: Forbes Island requires passage via the Bradford Island car ferry (see schedule below), a personal watercraft, or a captained passenger ferry boat that must be booked in advance. Boat dock space is included.
History:
Forbes Thor Kiddoo came to San Francisco in 1959 after a stint in the Coast Guard. A carpenter and engineer, he developed a business constructing houseboats in Sausalito. Then, inspired by Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo and the movie version of “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”, Forbes Kiddoo built himself an underwater home, complete with portholes for watching the fish swim past, a diving hatch and a grand bedroom suite fit for a captain of his private world. In the ’90s, Forbes added a 40-foot lighthouse and a white picket fence.
Today, a small group of committed friends has preserved and kept Forbes Island afloat for community events, opening it for all to experience and enjoy. Your rental helps us to maintain this totally unique, fabulous find into the future.

Our stay at this outdoor campsite was absolutely unforgettable. From the very beginning, Matt stood out as an exceptional host—his communication was prompt, clear, and incredibly helpful. He made sure we had all the information we needed and set the perfect expectations for our visit.
We originally planned to stay just one night since my partner had a business meeting nearby, and I was simply tagging along. But everything changed the moment we woke up the next morning. The views were breathtaking—peaceful, expansive, and truly rejuvenating. We instantly knew one night wasn’t enough and decided to extend our stay.
To our delight, the weather added even more magic to the experience. We were able to enjoy both beautiful sunshine and rain, each bringing its own charm to the landscape. It made the entire stay feel even more special and memorable.
This campsite offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and thoughtful hosting. We left feeling refreshed and already talking about our next visit. We will absolutely be back!

So much fun! We got in right after dark and Louis came down to guide us in. We had our own private driveway that circled around, very easy to get in and out. The treehouse is built very well and the netting felt like we were sleeping on a trampoline. The first ladder has about 14 steps and the second has 7. Make sure if you are carrying a backpack that you keep your body close to the ladder when climbing up and down. Would definitely come back again!

Took my 7 and 10 year old girls for an overnight camping trip. The place was fantastic, even better than the photographs portrayed. They loved the lake and all the exploring they could do. The location is great as it’s super secluded and yet it’s just a short hop in the car for all the things we forgot (and all the ice cream treats we didn’t, but had to get anyway). Would definitely recommend.

Awesome place, super convenient if you need a place to crash as you make your on your way along I-5. Lots a space between sites, and the area was very quiet aside from a pack of coyotes in the distance. The restroom facility is great, and we loved being able to look up at the stars while we showered.

I have camped with my pop up camper at the Ranch at the Cross Roads a handful of times. It is very convienant and a great place to stay. The bathroom and shower are excellent. Always clean and comfortable I will continue to stay on this property in the future.

Great spot! Sunset and sunrise over the hills was stunning. The bathroom felt luxurious for camping and I liked the shower.
The communal area could use some work. The cornhole boards were a bit warped and most of the bags were unusable. The sink outside didn't work as well.
Overall the location was great and nearby a place to buy wood/get food. Did the job.

Great spot for a stay in Sonoma! It’s quiet and peaceful yet you’re only a few minutes drive from the Sonoma Plaza. Tony is so welcoming and great to talk with, he’s created a lovely spot that’s completely level and convenient with water and electricity. We also enjoyed using the provided patio table to take in the countryside view. It’s a beautiful neighborhood and I recommend taking a stroll. Thanks Tony!

I loved the spaciousness. It was a huge grassy lot and I could park in just about any space. I liked the automatic gate, that it had a picnic table, decent looking bathroom and freshwater hose to fill my water tank. One minor problem was there were some bugs flying around in the field that came into my van, so it took some time to chase them out again (I hate bugs.)
