Creekside Airstream Glamping!

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Charleston, SC
We bought this Airstream in 2022 as an old shell. It was junky and a mess, and not much in it other than old scraps and junk. We renovated it in 2022 and 2023, and turned it into a cozy, midcentury modern style Glamper. We tried to plan for every comfort you could want or need, from wifi and a smart TV, to a cute bathroom, Keurig and an Air Fryer. We hope you love it as much as we do. Please note, it is tight quarters, especially for more than two people and large framed people. For this reason, we only allow two guests. We live on a busy street, but the backyard is peaceful and serene. The airstream is parked next to our creek, where waterfowl abound. Only one vehicle allowed.

Friendly Fowl Farm

5 sites · RVs, Tents12 acres · Saint Helena Island, SC
The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation.  Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family.  Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today.  Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

Edisto River Retreat

6 sites · RVs, Tents25 acres · Round O, SC
Ian's background is in art, public education, and exploring the outdoors. Growing up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina allowed for endless opportunities to explore and foster an appreciation for the outdoors. It is the peace and tranquility of the wetlands, and the time spent with family and friends in these unique ecosystems, that always brought me comfort and wonder. It was in June of 2019 that dreams of having my name attached to land became a reality. Since the contract was signed; family, friends, and I have been developing the property and programming classes and adventures to share with those who seek them. We have developed several unique sites to share with you and will continue to improve as we foster our partnership with the land and share its bounty.

The best camping near Fort Sumter National Monument guide

Overview

About

See where the Civil War began in 1861 at Fort Sumter. Once the site of devastating sea battles, this island fort is now a peaceful monument. It offers cannon demonstrations, guided tours, and historic walks—plus killer sea views.

The fort is accessible only by a lovely 30-minute ferry ride. While you wait for the boat, check out the onsite visitor center. Grab a seat on the breezy top deck and enjoy the ranger's talk en route. Try to make the first boat—it gets you there in time for the flag-raising. At the fort, watch artillery demonstrations and explore the walls. Rangers provide a fascinating look at how Charleston seceded from the Union.

Fort Sumter itself is small, but you'll find plenty to do around Charleston. If you're a Civil War buff, head for nearby Fort Moultrie. At Boone Hall Plantation, see original slave cabins. Interpretive exhibits give a glimpse into how slaves lived during wartime. Other great local attractions include the Charleston Museum and the South Carolina Aquarium.

Near the fort, you'll find a variety of campgrounds for tents and RVs. With Charleston's warm climate, you can camp comfortably any time of year.
