A trail runs along the border of the peninsula that you can hike and take your bike on to enjoy its beauty. Come enjoy a piece of unspoiled paradise only 5 miles from the heart of downtown Charleston.

RV site with full hook-ups. There is a saltwater pond, and you're allowed to fish as long as it's catch and release. You're welcome to take your kayaks out as well. There is a flat trail that you can hike and take your bike on to enjoy the beauty of the property. Dock access will take you right to the ocean. Please note that you may be sharing the dock with other guests. Your camping neighbors will be a minimum of 25 feet from you, but there is space for you to park further away as long as you have a longer length connection for water/septic/electric. This site is in the same area as the sites that do not include dock access however, with this option, you are allowed to access to a larger portion of the property as well as the dock which can be swam off of when the tide is high. The tides come in and out every six hours.

Hidden Gem RV Hook-Up #1

The Hidden Gem was the perfect place for our style of camping. We stayed 4 nights on the property in a smaller class C with no toad. Our 11 year old blue heeler loved being off leash, and we enjoyed having the freedom to come and go without having to worry about disturbing other campers. Although getting an early Friday morning Uber into downtown Charlotte was a little frustrating and ending up being quite expensive, we only needed to do so one time. And fortunately coming back mid afternoon was much more reasonable. On the other days we simply disconnected from the services and drove our RV to our desired destinations, breakfast, lunch, and visits at historic sites. James Island is a quiet and unassuming community and getting over the bridge to the “mainland “ was quick and easy. There are some great restaurants on the Island and plenty more places with great food offerings within 20 minutes or so. James, our host, communicated efficiently and met us at the gate when we arrived. If you like privacy, seclusion, and simplicity, yet easy access to all the area has to offer, this is definitely worth the money

There is so much potential for this site. Unfortunately, it’s not currently at $125/night site. Due to the layout and the over promises in the description and the under delivery in real life, this is more like a $75/night site. The photos that show the water views are indeed on the property, but they are not available for a utility required site so this is a bit of a misleading pitch. We would stay here again, but at a lower price point.

We had a wonderful stay on James’s property. James was a great host. Met us upon arrival and made sure we had what we needed. Since we didn’t need hookups, he let us choose our own spot, which made the experience even better as we were able to camp closer to the water. The land is beautiful, wooded and surrounded by water and a pond on site. It’s a really unique setting: you feel completely tucked away in the woods, yet the moment you leave the property you’re in a neighborhood and only a short drive from downtown and all the essentials. We’d absolutely recommend this spot, especially for anyone who enjoys boondocking!

We had the most amazing time at this beautiful property! From the moment we arrived, our host went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome and taken care of. Their friendliness and genuine hospitality truly set this place apart. The land itself is stunning—peaceful, spacious, and perfectly maintained. Our dogs were in heaven! They had all the freedom they needed to run, explore, and get plenty of exercise, which made the trip even more enjoyable for us. This stay genuinely made our vacation unforgettable. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already excited to come back. Highly, highly recommend! 🌟

Very relaxing secluded site very much like state or provincial campgrounds next to the river delta. Took an early morning walk around the field watching the morning mist move over the morning dew-covered grass. Full hookups for sewer, water, and 50/30/20 amp electrical. Within a gated area next to a large field with an eclectic assemblage of farm machinery and boats. Left very relaxed.

James is a wonderful host. He’s very responsive and accommodating. The spot is super quiet and peaceful, hidden away from the noise of the city. It’s in a large bird sanctuary so there were beautiful sounds of wildlife to listen to all night.
