I wonder if when standing on the sprawling in upstate South Carolina, just a short hour trip from Greenville, Ed and Kitty Land heard a small still voice say, “if you build it, they will come.” While there isn't a baseball field on the property, that's about all that is lacking. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another.
Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!
The landscape is picturesque and the mountain views are truly breathtaking in every direction. The farm hosts farm to table dinners that sell out year after year. Their U-Pick fruit opportunities evolve throughout the season with something always coming in from early summer through fall. A list of available fruit is updated often on their website, upcoming events and information about cabin rentals on Horseshoe Lake.
The recent addition of a distillery on the farm means the fruit is grown, fermented, distilled and bottled on the farm. The distillery is open year round Monday – Saturday. ged in oak barrels and aged to produce some of the finest liquors made in these mountains.
The farm store is complete with fresh produce (in season), canned jams, jellies and bottled ciders. Grass-fed, natural, antibiotic-free Black Angus beef is sold in the store. The cattle are raised on pasture which produces some of the healthiest beef you can buy. Using only natural, humane and environmentally sustainable practices, the Lands and their staff raise beef as nature intended. Bringing the best to your family has never been easier.
Belle's Bistro at Chattooga Belle Farm serves salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups made with the freshest ingredients possible. The bistro is open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from April – October. Their menu includes Certified South Carolina Grown food which makes for an outstanding menu, also which can be viewed on chattoogabellefarm.com.
When it comes to weddings, Chattooga Belle Farm has it all! My two siblings and me were raised here and later bought joining land that now makes up the 400 acres. We all still live on the farm with our families 1.4 mile down a dirt and gravel road. Local peach/strawberry farm (McLeod farm) with produce/gift shop/free museum/restaurant called (Big's), they have pick your own strawberries in the spring and early summer. In nearby Hartsville and Cheraw there are several golf courses and places for Kayak rentals. Neptune Island waterpark in Hartsville. We have a hidden Creek that is fun to hike to by way of a trail. Small pond for fishing, plenty of room for hiking and bike riding ( grassy, sandy, rolling hills). Beautiful hills to camp on and watch an unobstructed view of the Carolina sunset and sunrise that peak through wooded acreage. Choose a tent camp location or pull/drive your RV/camper right near our cow pasture and watch the cows graze. Fresh drinking water at campsites. Bathroom and heated shower. Pick wild blackberries in early summer and wild grapes in late summer early fall, and we may share some of our home made jellies with you. We welcome family groups year round. At night enjoy the sounds of wildlife while watching the highly visible twinkling stars and tracing the many constellations and if lucky see a shooting star or two.

FREE FIREWOOD FOR LIMITED TIME: I have more split oak firewood than I know what to do with. While it lasts, campers can take as much as they need for free. The wood is piled at the site.
Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog.
We also have a small orchard and a garden.
Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails.
As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives.
We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

We had a great time in our RV at site 2. The view of the lake/reservoir was beautiful, and the whole experience was relaxing and peaceful. There is a bit of traffic noise from the road on the other side of the water but nothing bothersome. It was great to have full hook-ups. The septic hook-up is slightly up hill so don’t be like us lol and be sure to park as close to it as possible to avoid needing an additional hose. As another reviewer mentioned, there are some ticks but that’s to be expected when you’re camping in the woods- just something to be aware of if you aren’t already. There isn’t a picnic table on site but we had a folding table that we used for cooking. We will definitely be back with a kayak and fishing rod! Thank you, Chris for a great trip!

This was a nice, quiet camping spot right by the water, great for fishing! Just be aware that bottom fishing isn't ideal due to snags, and we didn't catch much. Beautiful, small and remote, directions easy to follow and welcoming host, James. Small town-Saluda Creek, with Food Lion Supermarket and other stores and car wash close by. The facilities (single stall toilet and shower in separate buildings) provided were exceptionally clean, charming and unique with air and heat. History given for some sites as to what was previously located there etc. Short walk to creek area. Price was excellent. Will definitely return!

My Daughter and I stopped here very quickly, just to sleep between adventures but we plan to return to access to amazing forest and trails. We were greeted by an owl upon arrival and the chanterelles wished us a goodbye the next morning! Perfect spot close to lake Keowee and many many other fun nature to explore.

The host was outstanding and they really went above and beyond! The site was nice flat spot for a large tent. They had plenty of firewood for us to use. We highly recommend this campsite.

Fun time at the lake. Great little store on site with preserves and farm made items. The distillery is a must try experience. They grow and make everything on site and the information they share is is interesting and made for a great afternoon.

What a fantastic spot! Was so picturesque and secluded. Felt like I was in my own little world. Though I didn’t use the kayaks I think they’re a great addition. I spotted the alligator at night before I went to bed which was super cool. And the frogs croaking at night are incredible to listen to as well as watching the bats swoop around. I was in town visiting Congaree National Park and thought this spot was the perfect distance away! Would come back in a heartbeat if I visit the area again.

Such an awesome stay. Staff was friendly and the facility was beautiful. Would stay here over and over again. Fun walks around the facility and short drive to food spots.
