We are less than 5 minutes from the entrance to Paris Mountain State Park which boasts amazing hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. Our property is situated along a popular cyclist route and only five miles to downtown Greenville. Be sure to bring your bike! Excellent location if you are trying to camp close to the city, but also want to be close to an amazing state park.

This property is located right across the river, or a short 5-minute drive to Dolly Cooper State Park that draws in disc-golf enthusiasts and park explorers alike. Camp moondog is only a 10-minute drive from the world-renowned Downtown Greenville, a destination known for its excellent restaurants, festivals, shopping, and social scene. Being situated so close to the city-center means that food delivery is just a click away, and running out for that last-minute necessity is a breeze. This is a unique opportunity to get “off the grid” without having to make those ‘off the grid’ sacrifices. At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is to offer a carefree, clean, natural environment for a relaxing camping vacation experience. We do allow eating size catfish under 5lbs to be taken from lake. Large catfish and all other types of fish are catch and release only. No fishing license required. Typically caught fish weigh in at 20lbs plus. Some catfish as large as 80lbs. Enjoy peacefully fishing all night with your friends and family on a lighted fully stocked pond. This RV site is on our property where we first lived in a mobile home. We love camping and thought what a great place for a quite retreat. So we made the site into a full hook up RV camp site. Beautiful location with a view of Table Rock located in the Historic Oolenoy Valley. Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina. Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife. Important please read! There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me. There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. DuPont Bike Retreat is located 1/4 mile from the Fawn Lake Access area into DuPont State Forest. The DBR is 37 acres and has a pond with a dock and numerous camping sites available. The property used to hold Glass Feather Studio, which was a glass art studio and is now Glass Feather Lodge. The mountain view from the indoor porch is amazing and there are several places to relax and enjoy this view. There is an outdoor shower and bike wash station behind the lodge and two indoor bathrooms (one with shower) off the porch. The lower Pond Area of the property has a port-a-john near the pond. Starter bundles of firewood are included, and additional can usually be purchased on-site. Come enjoy the forest straight from your campsite!

We have one campsite on our 1.5 acre property. Located 2 miles from downtown Tryon, where you'll find restaurants and shops. The property is on the Pacolet River. Guests are welcome to fish and use the fire pit area on the river. There is also a small Airbnb on the property. The river, fire pit area are to be shared with all guests. The campsite is located next to our bathhouse that offers a shower, toilet, sinks, and washer dryer unit. Property line runs along the large pine trees near the river, we ask that you stay on our property only. The surrounding area is still cleaning up from Hurricane Helene.

We loved tent camping at the Far Out space! It was very secluded - we never saw anyone else! There was plenty of down trees for firewood and great flat spots for our tent. Mike was super helpful when we got there - he made one trip when I got there and another when my husband got there with the ATV. We were nervous about the 5-8 minute walk and not having our car right there but with Mike's help it was very doable! We will definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem one weekend, and we were so blown away that we immediately booked it again for the very next weekend! The hosts, Mike and Kelly showed phenomenal hospitality and they even helped us haul our gear to and from our campsite. The Far Out has quickly become one of our favorite spots to unwind and just soak up time together by the water. If you’re looking for a truly secluded, serene waterfront campsite, this place is an absolute must. Will be back!

The Hideaway was the PERFECT spot for my pup’s first camping trip! This campsite had the perfect amount of seclusion so she didn’t run into other campsites to make “new friends,” it was right next to an open field for her get her zoomies out, and the river was still super close. John was an incredibly kind and generous host! I met him in the driveway on the way in and mentioned that I forgot a fire starter. He graciously brought a lighter, paper, and extra wood to the Hideway within minutes. On a scale of 1-5 Tents (stars) with 5 Tents being the best… I give Serenity on the Saluda a whopping 10 Tent🏕️ rating!

We loved camping at the property. We camped in a Roof Top Tent and the area where we parked was very flat and open. Jason had a nice fire pit at the site, although we never got to use it due to exploring the area all day. Other campers were quiet and courteous. We would go back next time we head to Greenville/Traveler’s Rest area!

Our stay at The Cabin at Fern Gully was pure magic! The property feels completely secluded and peaceful — surrounded by trees and the sounds of the river — yet it’s just a short drive to downtown Greenville, where there’s no shortage of great restaurants, shops, and things to do. The cabin itself was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The hosts were incredibly friendly and responsive, offering great local tips and making sure we had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our favorite part was spending evenings down by the river, sitting around the campfire and making s’mores under the stars — it felt like our own private nature retreat. We were looking for a peaceful place in the woods, but didn't want to be too far from the city (we were in town for a wedding). This cabin was so close, we didn't even need to rent a car! We could easily Uber to where we needed to go in Greenville and then Uber back to this cozy cabin. Despite that, the cabin feels secluded. Quiet woods, cabin on a hill overlooking a beautiful river, it was all very beautiful. The cabin itself was great too! Beautiful inside, clean, very comfortable. It has plenty of space and everything you need, like a small apartment. We were only there for three nights but it would have been easy to stay a lot longer. And it has a fire pit in a private spot by the river! That made for a fun, relaxing evening. Mike responded quickly anytime we had a question. Great host! Made us feel very welcome.

Weekend Trip to Serenity on the Saluda

John’s place was beautiful, this was my first camping trip in a tent and it was perfect to say the least! Even though there are other sites, there is so much privacy. He also let us use his canoe which was nice Saturday afternoon to fish for catfish. Overall the trip was great and would recommend to anyone.

Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. The entrance to Pisgah National Forest is about 15 minutes away as well so it's a convenient drive to visit the forest and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I also own a company that guides "coffee hikes" to local waterfalls in DuPont State forest. You can find more about that in the photo descriptions. :) Please note!! My road up to my driveway is steep and bumpy. It’s only 0.3 miles up but bumpy. You don't need four wheel drive but higher ground clearance is recommended. Want an indoor bath and shower?? We are in the heart of the cyclist route for all the major road bike races and less than 10 minutes from downtown Brevard, NC.

Free use of kayaks and a canoe on an undeveloped 18 acre lake is included when you camp here. Several miles of trails, dirt roads and streams wind through hundreds of acres which you are free to explore. The property has been owned by members of our family for 75 years or more with areas of it family-owned since the 1800's. A large portion of the property is dedicated to sustainable loblolly pine forests dating back to the 1980's. A significant area of the property is dedicated to native hardwood forest and has some of the oldest and largest white oak, poplar, elm and shortleaf pines in the upstate. The remainder of the property is pasture; home to Black Angus cattle. We look forward to sharing this unique property with you!

Green Haven, Primitive Camping

Nestled between evergreen-covered peaks in Etowah and in the shadows of Pisgah National Forest lies Green Haven. With mountain views, rustic and comfortable campsites, and abundant plants and animals to appreciate, Green Haven is a peaceful destination to get away from it all and enjoy spending time immersed in nature and mountain solitude. Wildlife abounds in the area. Deer and white squirrels are a common sight. Tall white pines, poplar, and rhododendron shade the campsites. Enjoy mountain spring water during the winter and spring months (seasonal water supply). Build a crackling fire in the fire pit from available pre-cut wood and existing dead wood around the campsites. Hike the property on the designated trails and discover rock outcroppings, long range mountain views, fern forests, and a variety of wild mushrooms seasonal. Families, individuals, and groups alike enjoy camping here! We have 3 very private campsites. "Chanterelle" campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and accommodates 5 people. "Fern" has a fire ring, picnic table, and can accommodate 4 people. Both sites have access to a pit latrine. The third site, "Big Rock" is a group site located at the top of the property, offering mountaintop views. Must have V6 or 4WD to access. Big Rock has a fire ring, 2 picnic tables, and its own pit latrine. A seasonal spring (Oct-July) is available on the property and a small stream, Piney Branch, that runs year round, drink at own risk (see map). There are two marked hiking trails. Please use the map to stay on property. Green Haven is centrally located 20 minutes between Brevard and Hendersonville. DuPont State Forest is 25 minutes away and it includes hiking, mountain biking, and waterfalls. Boaters will find the French Broad River, Horseshoe Bend, river access less than 10 minutes. More mountain biking at Ride Kanuga and Ride Rock Creek downhill mountain bike park 15 minutes away. The 7 mile paved Ecusta Trail from Horseshoe to Hendersonville is open, several miles away. Nearby breweries include Mills River Brewery and Bold Rock Cidery 15 minutes away.

They shared their enjoyment with us, and we realized how much we enjoyed knowing they were down there camping. We both have a great appreciation for God's creation and decided to open our gates to you. Lynn is a true Blue Ridge native and we both hope you enjoy the proximity to our towns, the mountains, rivers, streams, and waterfalls. The local apple orchards are also amazing! Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and rafting are only a few of the activities available within a short drive. So, soak it all in, come back home to Back Yard Campground, watch the sunset and enjoy sweet dreams.
