Nice little spot tucked away on the back side of town. Perfect getaway for a day or two. Right on the river so bring your fishing pole. I went during spring break so that evening was a little noisy but not too bad. Enjoyed staying here.

Mike and Kelly were responsive and super easy to work with. I stayed at the far out site, which is worth the short hike to have a spot on the river. Some of the best sleep I’ve ever had camping… I think the sound of the river helped. Felt like I had the whole place to myself. Looking forward to staying here again when I get the chance.

We met one of the hosts, Mike, as soon as we arrived. He was incredibly welcoming and even helped us carry our gear down to the campsite. The location by the river was beautiful. It had all the allure of backpacking into a remote site without any of the effort. I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for an easy but authentic outdoor experience

~ ROAD NOISE ~
It pains me to not recommend this location, because the hosts are very nice and responsive. And the site itself is fine; you can drive up to it, there are some flat spots to put your tents, a picnic table, and being by the river is cool.
But the road noise from the interstate and highway 153 were terrible during our stay. Very audible, loud engine revving, cars without mufflers, occasional emergency sirens, etc. It totally killed the experience we had hoped for.
We almost left, but decided to stick it out through the night, thinking surely it would die down. It didn't. Literally all night long. I actually had to leave my tent and go sleep in my car to try and get some quiet.
~ NEARBY NEIGHBOR NOISES ~
In addition to road noises, someone in one of the nearby houses decided to play music. We could hear the thumping of the bass at our campsite. This happened for a couple hours in the evening, till about 11pm.
Somebody's rooster also started crowing in the early hours. It wasn't directly next door, thank goodness, but you can definitely hear it at the site.
You'll also be able to hear dogs barking from neighbor houses when/if they decide to go outside and do that.
Now, you may not mind these sorts of things. In that case, definitely consider staying here. But it certainly affected our experience, and so I'm writing this review. Because you should definitely be made aware of it. I wish we had. Especially the road noise.

The Bend
The Bend was a great way to spend the first nice weekend here in SC, the river was so peaceful and relaxing and the spot was very secluded, my dog was able to run free and enjoy the little land peacefully.

I highly recommend this camp site. It is minutes from the downtown area, but still far enough away for outdoor seclusion. Very quiet, clean, and the environment itself was fantastic. Being my kids first time camping was a big deal for me and this spot provided all the stops for a great child-hood memory with their parents. The Saluda river runs along all sites (including a nice cabin) and can be heard through the light rapids just a short walk away. Mike was really hospitable in taking the time to not only transport our gear to the site, but to show us some of the best “hangout spots” near the water. Excellent place for tubing and swimming in the warmer months, and we will be definitely returning for that. My kids absolutely loved it and of all the many outdoor excursions that I have taken them on they have repeatedly said this was the best one. They literally had NOTHING negative to say about it. If you do not visit here, whether an experienced camper or not, you’re missing out for sure. If I could leave 10 stars I would.

We loved tent camping at the Far Out space! It was very secluded - we never saw anyone else! There was plenty of down trees for firewood and great flat spots for our tent. Mike was super helpful when we got there - he made one trip when I got there and another when my husband got there with the ATV. We were nervous about the 5-8 minute walk and not having our car right there but with Mike's help it was very doable! We will definitely be back!

Amazing! This is a wonderful place. Peaceful and private. The cabin itself is a work of art. Location is ideal for any camper. Our family of 4 loved this trip. We had a blast exploring the woods and playing in the River. The campfires on the riverbank, were so relaxing and tranquil. 10 out of 10. Great job Mike and Kelly.

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem one weekend, and we were so blown away that we immediately booked it again for the very next weekend! The hosts, Mike and Kelly showed phenomenal hospitality and they even helped us haul our gear to and from our campsite. The Far Out has quickly become one of our favorite spots to unwind and just soak up time together by the water. If you’re looking for a truly secluded, serene waterfront campsite, this place is an absolute must. Will be back!

The cabin is amazing! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Greenville! Or maybe even people who live in Greenville!
We were looking for a peaceful place in the woods, but didn't want to be too far from the city (we were in town for a wedding). This cabin was so close, we didn't even need to rent a car! We could easily Uber to where we needed to go in Greenville and then Uber back to this cozy cabin. Despite that, the cabin feels secluded. Quiet woods, cabin on a hill overlooking a beautiful river, it was all very beautiful.
The cabin itself was great too! Beautiful inside, clean, very comfortable. It has plenty of space and everything you need, like a small apartment. We were only there for three nights but it would have been easy to stay a lot longer.
And it has a fire pit in a private spot by the river! That made for a fun, relaxing evening.
Mike responded quickly anytime we had a question. Great host! Made us feel very welcome.

Our stay at The Cabin at Fern Gully was pure magic! The property feels completely secluded and peaceful — surrounded by trees and the sounds of the river — yet it’s just a short drive to downtown Greenville, where there’s no shortage of great restaurants, shops, and things to do.
The cabin itself was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The hosts were incredibly friendly and responsive, offering great local tips and making sure we had a wonderful experience from start to finish.
Our favorite part was spending evenings down by the river, sitting around the campfire and making s’mores under the stars — it felt like our own private nature retreat.
If you’re looking for a place that’s peaceful and private but still close to all the action, The Cabin at Fern Gully is an absolute must-book. We can’t wait to come back!

I loved the Far Out campsite!! It felt secluded but still safe for me, a solo female camper. The trek to the site was short but steep. It was no problem though because Kelly hauled my gear for me in the wagon of their 4 wheeler. I loved being right next to the water. Kelly was friendly, quick to respond through the app and so accommodating. Cant wait to camp there again!!

This was an amazing place to camp! Mike and Kelly were great hosts: so communicative and accommodating, they even started a fire for us when we got in later than expected after dark. It was very peaceful and clean, I loved sleeping next to the river. Would surely stay here again next time I’m in the area!

My husband and our two kids (under 12) are experienced campers, and Camp Moondog is a perfect place for backpackers looking for a shorter hike-in, but also for newbie tent campers looking for a more rustic challenge. We stayed at the Far Out site, and it was about a three minute hike with a decent incline on the way in and then out, but very doable (and a good workout 😉). Mike helped cart all of our gear in with his ATV which was a pleasant surprise as we were prepared to hike it all in on foot. Top level service!
They have done an amazing job with the property. The paths are very clean and the views of the river are gorgeous. At the Far Out, you are far enough to not see the other sites, but you can go back to your vehicle quickly if needed.
Camp Moondog is ideal if you want to get in the woods, do some fishing, but still have easy access to Greenville. Mike and Kelly were fantastic hosts, and they have created a pristine camping spot. On our next visit, we want to try the fancy new cabin they are working on!

Kids and I had a great time. Played in the river, did a little fishing and had a nice camp fire. If you’re car camping I’d recommend something to carry gear, but it’s a short walk. Had a peaceful night sleep with the sound of the river and a good morning breakfast after. We used a 6 person tent which was a little tight for the space but would do that again.

Really beautiful camping spot on the river. Felt very private. Shady and elevated from the water.
This was a great spot for fishing, my family caught quite a few!
Pretty tricky to get down to the water and would be precarious with young kids because the drop off to the river is very steep. However, we still managed to fish, swim, and kayak just fine with our kiddos and really enjoyed being so close to the water while still feeling like we were in the woods and not near any other campers.

Nice site, needs a little tlc. Update amenities, shed was stocked with nothing but mud covered junk. It was private, it could use some pest management, solar lights were inoperative, garbage (not clearly indicated where to dispose of so we used some cans at the end of the road). The best part was the proximity to Greenville and the privacy, water was murky and covered with mosquitoes near shore. A little overpriced, we paid $50 a night over the Labor Day weekend. Would not stay again.
