Hanscombe Point Plantation is a 300 acre working farm that has been in the Legare family for 9 generations. We raise beef cows, heritage breeds of pigs, and laying hens.
Additionally, we raise vegetables and do a lot of agri-tourism including: summer camps, school field trips, and a large pumpkin patch maze each year.
Our accommodations include a primitive campsites along a salt water creek, and one RV siteon our farm.
We are located just 30 minutes from nearby beaches and downtown Charleston. Use our property as your base of operation as you have fun at the beach or tour the historic city, or just stay for a quiet get away in the woods.
There is also a lot of wildlife such as:
wild turkeys, woodstorks, raccoons, and alligators.
Fishing and crabbing are available on the salt water creek next to the campsite as well.

The river sites are separated by a small patch of woods, so if you are looking for complete privacy, Hill Top or Hill Side is the place to go. PLEASE FOLLOW "ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS" as most GPS directions are not accurate. 30 minutes to Diamond Hill Mine, 15 minutes to The Shoals MX. There is a one mile hiking path around the property. I sell firewood so please DO NOT CUT LIVE TREES!

I wonder if when standing on the sprawling in upstate South Carolina, just a short hour trip from Greenville, Ed and Kitty Land heard a small still voice say, “if you build it, they will come.” While there isn't a baseball field on the property, that's about all that is lacking. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another.
Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!
The landscape is picturesque and the mountain views are truly breathtaking in every direction. The farm hosts farm to table dinners that sell out year after year. Their U-Pick fruit opportunities evolve throughout the season with something always coming in from early summer through fall. A list of available fruit is updated often on their website, upcoming events and information about cabin rentals on Horseshoe Lake.
The recent addition of a distillery on the farm means the fruit is grown, fermented, distilled and bottled on the farm. The distillery is open year round Monday – Saturday. ged in oak barrels and aged to produce some of the finest liquors made in these mountains.
The farm store is complete with fresh produce (in season), canned jams, jellies and bottled ciders. Grass-fed, natural, antibiotic-free Black Angus beef is sold in the store. The cattle are raised on pasture which produces some of the healthiest beef you can buy. Using only natural, humane and environmentally sustainable practices, the Lands and their staff raise beef as nature intended. Bringing the best to your family has never been easier.
Belle's Bistro at Chattooga Belle Farm serves salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups made with the freshest ingredients possible. The bistro is open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from April – October. Their menu includes Certified South Carolina Grown food which makes for an outstanding menu, also which can be viewed on chattoogabellefarm.com.
When it comes to weddings, Chattooga Belle Farm has it all! With all-inclusive packages that offer rental items, catering, a wedding coordinator, photographer, flowers, music, bar service and even the wedding cake. The couple can customize a package or choose from their Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum packages. I was the first person to purchase property here in 1995 in what is known as Moultrie Plantation. This is a private property community with its own private dirt road. The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. Rosewood Farm and Agripark is my home. I honestly had about the most amazing childhood one could have on this very land! We hunted, fished, made mud pies and played outside for hours, as long as we were in shouting distance for supper time! I am so fortunate to be the daughter of two amazing parents, who had a dream to build a working farm from nothing more than a logging trail in the woods. They built a 3 story, 10,000 square foot house by themselves- while raising a family! We have 200 acres of farmland that features rolling hills, multiple ponds, creeks, farm animals, show horses and countless wildlife viewing opportunities. Wild turkey and deer roam free all over the farm, coveys of dove fly out from the pastures and trails, and coyotes howl in the night. Listen to the frogs croaking, crickets chirping and whipporwhills calling every evening under a magical blanket of stars. Take a nature hike through the trails that meander through the woods around the park. Our newest venture is to offer primitive camping and some cabin rentals around our 60 acre Agripark!
For those wanting to step it up a notch, we have erected a large concrete floor, covered event barn (for parties, family reunions, weddings, cowboy church, etc..,) and also a huge petting zoo barn with an area behind it for pony rides and 4-h/FFA functions. Also, a greenhouse is being erected next, that will teach people about aquaponics and hydroponics! Many things are on the immediate horizon for this special property. While we are under heavy construction at the moment in some areas of the park, many amenities are currently available. Why not unplug from the daily grind and spend time with those that matter most? My goal is to make this land as magical for your family as it has been for mine!

It was so peaceful! You’re far enough away from the road that you barely hear any traffic. We were able to see and hear so many animals throughout the night. We even got to see the cows roaming around the land the next morning! Whether it’s a camping trip or just some time to unwind and unplug, this was the place! Make sure you follow the directions on how to get there!

We stayed on the edge of the marsh. In a Pine wooded area. Firewood was provided with an easy, pay per bundle, cash box. There were conveniently placed Port-a-potties as well. We were excited to see cows grazing just beyond the camping area. It was a peaceful camping experience 🏕️

This place was amazing! My wife had never been camping before, and I haven’t been since I was a kid, so we really didn’t know what to expect. Alex was an amazing communicator and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.
There was honestly a LOT more to this site than I expected. We booked the RV/Tent site, where I set up a tent in the back of my pickup. Alex also has a little cabin/shack with a porch overlooking the pond that he offered for us to use. He even let us take his little boat out on the pond, which gave my wife and me some quiet, romantic time together.
The property was peaceful, secluded, and felt like our own little oasis. There are other tent sites, but we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. Alex also had cooking tools, pots, pans, and other supplies available if needed.
You can hear some dogs way off in the distance at night, but it didn’t bother us at all. Getting into the site is a little bumpy, so drive slowly and expect some mud if it has been raining. We went during dry weather with a truck and had no issues.
If you want somewhere to disconnect and get away from the world, I HIGHLY recommend this place. We are DEFINITELY coming back and hope to bring our kids when they’re a little older!

Directions on Google Maps took me right to the gate. Easy entry following Linda's instructions and drove directly to the camping are. I camped in at camp site #7 which was in the open because of clearance for my truck camper. The site was clean and I enjoyed the picnic table and rock ring fireplace. A walk through the wooded area revealed several nice campsites under the canopy of mixed oak and pine trees and the view of the river was an added bonus. Of course, the donkeys made an appearance every morning at breakfast and provided entertainment during breakfast. My stay was relaxing and enjoyable. Already looking forward to staying here again next Sept. when I return for the 2nd annual Beach Ball in the Fall on Seabrook Island.

The camp site was perfect. There was a ton of space between sites so there was plenty of privacy. The hosts were awesome and the fact that they could provide fire wood and eggs added to the excellence of the experience. I’m glad to have a new destination when I need a relaxing evening or two away from Charleston!

So the short hike is uphill, be prepared for that but it is worth it. The space is beautiful and currently decorated for halloween. The hosts were incredible and super sweet. The area was clean and full of wild life so if you love little critters this one is for you. From hummingbirds to geckos, i was both in heaven and the campfire set up comes with a grill that you can space up to cook whatever you like. If you love roughing it without the hassle of bringing your own furniture this spot is amazing and seemingly straight out of an enchanted garden. Not to mention lake jocassee is just a 10 minute drive straight down the road. Don’t miss this spot if you get the chance!!! Ps bring a cooler with wheels or a wagon for longer trips!

Absolutely beautiful place! The views, sunsets, peaceful farm setting, and full-hookup site made our stay special. Kitty was incredibly kind and even allowed us a few extra hours on checkout day at no additional charge when we needed the extra time. That kindness meant more to us than she knew.
This trip became a meaningful one for us, and having such a peaceful place to slow down and be together was truly a blessing. We would absolutely recommend it and will definitely be back. ❤️

We had a fantastic stay! The campsite was clean, quiet, and well cared for. The host was incredibly friendly, and when we purchased firewood, it was delivered right to our site before we arrived, which was a great touch.
We rented both the canoe and kayak and had an amazing time on the river. The swimming was perfect, and the peaceful setting made it easy to relax and disconnect. The river access is a little steep, so if you're not part mountain goat, bring a rope to tie off to a tree for a little extra assistance getting in and out.
Also worth mentioning: this was hands-down the cleanest outhouse I've ever used. The only thing I'd suggest is a small solar light inside. With the door closed, it's pitch black even during the day, so definitely bring a flashlight if nature calls.
The only interruption to the peaceful quiet was what we think was a red fox that unleashed an absolutely terrifying scream in the middle of the night. We went from deep sleep to wondering if we were starring in a horror movie in about two seconds! 😆 It definitely got our hearts pumping.
Overall, a beautiful, peaceful riverside campsite with a wonderful host, great paddling, refreshing swimming, and a memorable wildlife experience thrown in for free. We'd absolutely stay again!
