At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is simple: provide a carefree, clean, and natural environment for a relaxing camping experience. If we’re available, we’re happy to use our ATVs to help transport your gear to any of the campsites—just give us at least a day’s notice so we can plan to meet you.
Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

This Property was purchased by Grandfather in the 70s and then was passed to my Mother. In 2013 I decided to live life differently and start from the ground up building with natural materials and found materials. At that time I was fortunate enough to have the land passed to me and I started building a home for myself and to be close to my mothers home nearby. After achieving the basics I decided that the best use of this beautiful land was to create a place for people to relax and enjoy, a park like environment dedicated to preserving natural beauty and amplifying it through a permaculture lifestyle. 8 years later I am blown away at how far the dream has become a reality and love sharing my space with people from all over the country.

Blake, cheesecake (our Aussiedoodle), and I had the best time here! We played survivor in our 30s against some very early 20s and did amazing. Shout out to them for letting us join their game. We had so much fun. We kayaked. It was amazing. Thank you so much for letting us come we had the best time

Campsite was as described in the listing; freshly mowed and inviting. Lots of space to spread out or if you had others camping with you. Our class C had no trouble going down the drive to the site and finding a level spot. David was a great host, good communication and very friendly. Definitely recommend!

Mike and Kelly were responsive and super easy to work with. I stayed at the far out site, which is worth the short hike to have a spot on the river. Some of the best sleep I’ve ever had camping… I think the sound of the river helped. Felt like I had the whole place to myself. Looking forward to staying here again when I get the chance.

Nice little spot tucked away on the back side of town. Perfect getaway for a day or two. Right on the river so bring your fishing pole. I went during spring break so that evening was a little noisy but not too bad. Enjoyed staying here.

I enjoyed tent camping on the creek at David’s. It felt very private and safe. The site had lots of firewood. The toilet was easy to use by just adding water. David was easy to communicate with and made sure I had everything I needed. I true Gem.

Large site with lots of elbow room! Stargazing for days! We really enjoyed our two night stay with convenient "outhouse" close by. Next time we plan to make use of the boat ramp and kayak rentals. The staff was so helpful, friendly and responsive.

I loved tent camping on David’s land. I set up next to the creek. The shared working toilet outhouse was convenient. It felt very private. Lots of firewood. Very peaceful. Communication with David was seamless.

Captain John's land is breathtakingly beautiful and was the perfect secluded retreat we needed. The bath house is very nice and well maintained, the camping site was very private and quiet. One of the best hammock views I have had, highly recommend this gem!

Weekend Trip to Serenity on the Saluda
Hideaway was the perfect little spot tucked away in the woods but close to the river! It borders a large field that was perfect for our pups zoomies! The outhouse was well maintained and stocked with simple toiletries. The campsite came with a fire pit as well. We loved Serenity on the Saluda and will be back!

We stayed 3 nights with our 2 dogs and 2 cats. No problems at all. There are a few spots by the river but stayed in an open field for more space because of our animals. The toilets are kept clean and there is a dumpster for trash. I recommend this place and would visit again. Thank you to Scott and his family for accommodating us!
