Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s. Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. Our recent visit to Sublime Camping was an overall delightful experience. Nestled just off Tin Can Bay Road, the campground offers an escape from the hustle and bustle, as the traffic noise is blissfully absent. The unique aspect of this location is the ability to pick your own spot at the old lime farm, providing a sense of freedom. While the camp facilities are minimalistic, it is important to note that all campers are required to be self-contained. This aspect adds to the charm and tranquility of the place, ensuring a peaceful environment for everyone. Our group had the pleasure of enjoying some great meals at the Sublime Brewery, accompanied by a few of their signature brews. The combination of great food, drinks, and good company made for a memorable weekend. However, it is worth mentioning that our tranquil morning was interrupted by the sound of mowing before 7 am on a Sunday morning. While this was a minor inconvenience, it did detract from our overall positive experience at this quiet little spot. In conclusion, Sublime Camping is a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful and self-contained camping experience. Just be prepared for an early morning wake-up call if the groundskeeper decides to mow the lawn.

Weekend Trip to Prime Mary River Camping

Loved our camping experience at this hipcamp!! Great location on the Mary River, plenty of space between the campsites so your not jammed in and listening to your neighbours conversations!! Only a 10 minute drive from Gympie if you have to grab some last minute items you had forgotten to grab. Great access to the river if you bring a kayak for a paddle or even just go for a swim in the river. We will definitely put this campsite on our favourites list and will camp there again. Access is great for caravans too, we took our 22’6” ban there and was able to get in and out without any bother. Probably wouldn't take a 2wd and caravan there if there has been a lot of rain as there is a considerable grass hill to negotiate when leaving the campsite, although I didn't need to engage 4wd to get out in dry weather

We had the opportunity to feed the highland cows and lambs, made a campfire amongst the beautiful scenery, and indulged in the gift shop too. 100 secluded acres located on the Gregory River approximately 15 minutes from Buxton township. The property is nestled amongst thousands of acres of national park for bush walkers an explorers. Guests need to be fully self contained and no toilets are on site. Access to the Gregory river enables fishing from the bank and a spot to place a crab pot to secure a local feed of fish or mud crab. There is also the option to put a kayak into the river from the bank. Campsites are located approximately 100m from the river bank so only a short walk to the water. Despite there being some snags, I have caught some very decent fish and crabs all from the property. For those wanting to spend a day on the water, I can guide guests in my boat to help land one of the many metre barramundi that call the river home. There are approximately 15 native beehives on the property and I am happy to show guests inside some hives as well as how to locate some in the wild for the interested bushwalkers and nature lovers. The property does not have power, water or toilets so please plan ahead. Significant rainfall can also make accessibility an issue along the 1km driveway so I would recommend a 4 wheel drive, however if it is dry a 2WD would be fine.

The block is located very close to the boat ramp where you can launch canoes, kayaks,sup’s and small tinnies. Our names are Chris and Christine. We recently moved to Gundiah Qld and acquired a beautiful piece of land (approx. 320 acres) with about 70 acres of picturesque camping located on the Mary River. Our property is located halfway between Gympie and Maryborough (approx. 20 minutes from the Bruce Highway) tucked away down a private road which is lovely and peaceful. We have some walking trails located on the Camp Grounds to take in the scenery, or for the more adventurous located behind the office are longer walking trails with spectacular views at the top. There is a bike track and playground with Mini Putt Putt to keep the kids amused! Currently an RC track in the making for the remote 4WD enthusiasts. Easy access to the Mary River if you would like a spot of fishing, swimming or kayaking. Keep your eye out for the platypus and Mary River Turtles. We also have fire pits available at most sites with plenty of free firewood to collect around the property. Your fury friends are more than welcome but for the safety of them and others must be on a lead at all times. We are located about 50 minutes from Gympie, an hour 15 minutes from Rainbow Beach and or Hervey Bay and 45 minutes from Maryborough. The town of Tiaro is only 15 minutes down the road which has a Foodworks, Pub, United Fuel and Cafe. Don't forget the local Gundy Pub is only 5 minutes down the road. Great atmosphere and meals "tell them we sent you". Gundy Getaway is the perfect place to get back to basics and enjoy the peace and serenity.
