The Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail Incorporated is facilitating the development of the disused rail corridor from Taragoola (near Gladstone, Central Queensland), through the Boyne Valley, on to Monto, Eidsvold, Mundubbera and south through to Gayndah in the Burnett Valley. This property covers those campsites in the North Burnett Region. The corridor is an inland link between Gladstone and Gayndah, which has great natural scenery, wildlife and historical structures with small country towns spread along its length. There are several campsites (shown here on Hipcamps), on former railway sidings along the trail and a range of other accommodation types, some community NFP operated, which we encourage you to support. Will showcase the attractions along the trail, along with location maps, trail maps, and much other useful information.

About

For those looking to extend their stay, the park offers a basic camping area, perfect for a night under the stars.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book your campsite online well in advance to secure your spot amid the natural splendour of Auburn River National Park.
  • Consider visiting during the off-peak season for better availability and a more intimate connection with nature.
  • Keep an eye on park alerts for any last-minute openings due to cancellations.
  • Explore nearby camping options if the park's campground is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Auburn River National Park is during the cooler months, from April to September, when the weather is more conducive to hiking and exploring. The wet season, typically from December to March, can make access roads treacherous and some areas of the park may be closed due to flooding.

Know before you go

  • Check the condition of access roads to Auburn River National Park, especially after wet weather, as 4WD may be recommended.
  • Be prepared for bushwalking with sufficient water, a first-aid kit, and sturdy footwear.
  • Stay safe by keeping to the walking tracks and supervising children near cliff edges and the river.
  • Bring all necessary supplies, including drinking water and a fuel or gas stove for cooking, as facilities are limited.
  • Mobile phone coverage is not reliable in the park, so plan accordingly and inform someone of your bushwalking plans.
