Well Dorothy, we’ve reached the Emerald City. Biking? Check. Hiking? Check. Skiing and snowshoeing-mobiling? Check. A little intimidating? Check. Mount Spokane State Park covers 13,919 acres in the Selkirk Mountains, has multiple natural forest areas and is home to Mount Spokane, measuring in at a towering 5,883 foot elevation. Pick your favorite mode of primitive transportation (or jump on a snowmobile) and say what’s up to Canada from any one of the six mountain peaks in the park. While camping is limited to eight sites, all located at the park entrance, Alpine night skiing is allowed–ditch the tent and boogie on until dawn.
