Harris Beach State Park
Explore the tide pools and gaze at the largest island off the Oregon coast.
Use binoculars to catch sight of a tufted puffin on Goat Island, a National Wildlife Sanctuary and breeding site. The island sits just off the beach in Harris Beach State Park. After searching for rare birds, take a walk on the beach or splash in the surf. One cool feature of the area is the sea stacks, large rock formations out in the surf.
You might catch a glimpse of gray whales migrating past in the winter and spring months. Other wildlife in the area includes Harbor seals and California sea lions. On breezy days, run down the beach and watch in glee as the wind catches your kite, and it takes flight.
