The site is an open (no trees) level gravel pad with water, sewer and electric connections plus high speed WiFi. There are tall oak trees adjacent to the lot. The site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Big Bear campground is gated for security (you will be assigned a code) and has an outdoor pool with shower house (summer only), a playground, picnic pavilion, and walking trails. We had a group not understand this so I want to make sure it is clear. Firewood is for sale here for CASH! Please bring CASH with you. Sixty acres of magical trees, a one acre pond, and a three acre field. From the road there is a two hundred foot elevation gain to the top of the hill. Along the way are several hundred feet of rock ledges, caves, and critters. Most of the land is sloping, but the hilltop is flat as a table, with prehistoric-looking ferns under a dense canopy of mature trees. The campsites are ultra secluded- about a quarter mile apart from each other. All sites include a fire pit, cooking grate, picnic table, and sites 2&3 have platforms. Camp ONE: is on the top of the hill, and a small car can be driven to within 150 feet of it. It is pretty flat, and surrounded by blackberry bushes, ferns, and trees. Camp TWO: is on a bluff overlooking a picturesque swamp, filled with hemlock trees and ferns. This site can not be driven to with anything less than a high clearance SUV (ie- jeep wrangler), so I consider it a hike in site. It is under a ten minute walk from the pond and parking lot, but the view and feel is worth it. (It has been brought to our attention that there is occasionally a group riding atvs on a neighboring property that are audible from this site. We have no control over what time it happens, so please keep this in mind) Camp THREE: is accessible with a four wheel drive vehicle, something at least as high as an SUV. It is the closest to the house and pond, but still far enough to feel secluded and completely private. If you choose to walk there, it’s only a couple minutes from the parking area. Throughout the property, there are many quiet places to hang out, flat spots to do yoga, trails to explore, and fishing and swimming in the beautiful pond. Wahl Dairy Farm has been a family run and owned small farm since 1921 when August Wahl moved their family to Callicoon. August was a butcher by trade, and the farm started as a family homestead, raising their own chickens and cows with the help of a few horses and of course August's father who was very handy and could make axe handles and wooden wheel spokes. The Wahl homestead became Wahl Dairy Farm in the 1940s when August started selling milk, two or four cans at a time, to the creamery. August's son, Vernon, took over the business and built it up; at one point about 100 cows were being milked! Vernon's son Ross took over the farm in 1995 and diversified it. Ross regularly raises chickens and pigs and grows pumpkins, in addition to the 40 or so milking cows currently on the farm (there are also calves and heifers). The farm is about 200 acres in total, including 15 acres of woods, 15 acres of "hunting" land (deer and rabbits roam free in the scrub), and close to 150 acres in production with pasture and hay. We never feed corn silage! We believe the corn gives the milk a more sour taste (you are what you eat!). We're proud that we've always been in grassland and committed to raising a mostly grass fed dairy herd, a quality not found in many diary farms today. We're excited to share this place with you! In addition there is excellent cell phone service on the farm! Great for digital nomads and everyone who needs to stay connected. The site is the second highest point in Sullivan County. The steady flow makes you think you are far from civilization. But not really - only a short hike and you travel from the falls to a dirt road to a paved highway in a matter of a few minutes. Over thousands of years and a few hundred year floods nature has made this wonderful cave-like formation under and behind the waterfall. The flat rock is a great place to picnic and enjoy the tranquility of the water. The trees surrounding the area make a fitting canopy for this unique campsite. The mountain behind is great for climbing and a short walk down the creek will get you to the base of Jensons Ledges. The ledges are a steep hike up a mountain to a spectacular vista. Relax in a secluded, comfortable tent while enjoying the music of the frogs. The land is a mix of cleared and wooded areas with a half acre pond. In the spring the pond comes alive with the singing of frogs and the blinking of fireflies. Enjoy a campfire in the evening and a brilliant display of stars. The pond is nice for swimming or paddling. We provide a kayak or just sit on the dock or relax in the hammock. The village of Callicoon is a ten minute drive with great restaurants, a brewery, distillery, wine bar, grocery store, vintage shops, live music and a wonderful farmers market on the weekend. From town, you can also book a canoe trip on the Delaware River. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a 15 minute drive for great concerts and an interesting museum. There will be a list in the tent with suggested activities in the surrounding area if you choose to go exploring. We provide kindling, firewood, bedding, fresh eggs from our chickens and brownies from our kitchen. There is a small cupboard attached to the picnic table with everything you will need for meals on the campfire. A cooler is provided, please bring your own ice. There will be 2 large jugs of water at the site and additional water at the handwashing station on the back side of the outhouse. The site offers total privacy. Parking is within a couple minutes walk to the site and there will be a cart to help you transport your gear. We are a couple of longtime residents of this beautiful piece of the planet and we look forward to sharing it with you.

Journey's End Farm is a small family farm offering a diverse selection of ecologically grown vegetables, maple syrup, and free-range eggs. Everything that we sell is grown or produced on-site with the intention of nurturing the soil and ecology of the land. From 1939-2020 our family ran a summer sleep-away camp for children on the farm, with an emphasis on caring for each other and the land. Located in a small valley at 1400 feet of elevation, our fields and woods are home to a broad diversity of native plants and animals. Our family has been caring for this land since 1926, but before European colonization it was home to the Lenape people from whom it was forcibly taken. Acknowledging this fact and working to expand awareness of Indigenous cultures and their rights is important to us. While at the farm, besides the amenities listed in each listing, you are welcome to hike or walk around and explore our farm which has many acres of woodland, creeks, springs, a pond, and open fields. A hot day is a great time for a walk along - or in - the creek. A rainy day brings out the Red Efts - beautiful orange newts that are all over the woods when you know where to look. We're always glad to point you in the right direction for a nice walk or a longer hike. You may be able to tag along collecting eggs from the hens or feeding some of the other animals we may have.

Wahl Dairy Farm has been a family run and owned small farm since 1921 when August Wahl moved their family to Callicoon. August was a butcher by trade, and the farm started as a family homestead, raising their own chickens and cows with the help of a few horses and of course August's father who was very handy and could make axe handles and wooden wheel spokes. The Wahl homestead became Wahl Dairy Farm in the 1940s when August started selling milk, two or four cans at a time, to the creamery. August's son, Vernon, took over the business and built it up; at one point about 100 cows were being milked! Vernon's son Ross took over the farm in 1995 and diversified it. Ross regularly raises chickens and pigs and grows pumpkins, in addition to the 40 or so milking cows currently on the farm (there are also calves and heifers). The farm is about 200 acres in total, including 15 acres of woods, 15 acres of "hunting" land (deer and rabbits roam free in the scrub), and close to 150 acres in production with pasture and hay. We never feed corn silage! We believe the corn gives the milk a more sour taste (you are what you eat!). We're proud that we've always been in grassland and committed to raising a mostly grass fed dairy herd, a quality not found in many diary farms today. We're excited to share this place with you! In addition there is excellent cell phone service on the farm! Great for digital nomads and everyone who needs to stay connected. The site is the second highest point in Sullivan County. Nestled in the foothills of the New York Catskills 150 miles Northwest of New York City is a place called Paradise Falls. It was named many years ago and as soon as you arrive you will see why the name was chosen. It has been in our family for almost 100 years. You can still see remnants of the gristmill that use to operate there. Many great memories have been made at the Falls and we now want to share our slice of paradise with you. The rolling creek, a feeder searching for it's mama - the Delaware River - runs down the mountainside and over the rocks to give power and life to the falls. The steady flow makes you think you are far from civilization. But not really - only a short hike and you travel from the falls to a dirt road to a paved highway in a matter of a few minutes. Over thousands of years and a few hundred year floods nature has made this wonderful cave-like formation under and behind the waterfall. The flat rock is a great place to picnic and enjoy the tranquility of the water. The trees surrounding the area make a fitting canopy for this unique campsite. The mountain behind is great for climbing and a short walk down the creek will get you to the base of Jensons Ledges. The ledges are a steep hike up a mountain to a spectacular vista. Definitely worth the time and effort it takes to get there. Come visit our slice of paradise - you will be glad you did.

We booked Brendan’s camp last minute without reading much, so our expectations were modest... but wow, it turned out to be the best campsite we’ve ever been to. The tent has a real bed with sheets and pillows, and we brought our own blankets which made it perfect. They even left us water, and there’s an outdoor shower, a toilet, and a trunk at the end of the bed filled with cooking essentials and other thoughtful items. It’s ideal for anyone who wants a quick escape without the hassle of packing tents and gear... more of a glamping experience than rough camping. The ponds are huge and beautiful; you can make a fire right by the water and enjoy the sunset surrounded by deer and little woodland animals. It’s incredibly peaceful, perfect for families or a romantic weekend with minimal effort. The camp is tucked behind the main house, so you feel completely secluded. It’s only a short 5-minute walk to the car, and Brendan can even give you a ride in a buggy if you’re carrying a lot! though honestly, you won’t need much. My husband and I are used to more rugged camping, and this was such a refreshing change. Everything feels thoughtfully put together with care and love. Brendan was super accommodating with our late check-in, and the firewood bundle lasted us the whole weekend! We’re already dreaming of coming back in the summer for a longer stay. Absolutely the best site on Hipcamp, by far.

We’ve stayed here twice now with our dogs and had an absolute blast both times. We loved it so much that we came back within a month, and we’re already bummed we won’t get to return until next season. Every extra is worth it - the sauna is incredible, the hot tub with the TV is a huge hit, and adding the Nintendo Switch and projector makes for such a fun movie night on the porch. The food is all delicious and clearly made with care. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail. There are fun little things to read and listen to, and it feels peaceful and private once the sun goes down. The big windows give you a perfect view of the stars at night and the sunrise in the morning. Shaggy really goes above and beyond. We’ve stayed in tons of places over the years, and this is easily one of our top three favorites. Don’t wait, book it and have a great time.

Keen Lake Campground and Cottage Resort stands out as a unique destination steeped in rich history, dating back to 1814 when the Keen family first acquired land in what was then known as the Elk Forest tract. The resort office is situated on the original family homestead site, which tragically succumbed to fire in 1832. A fascinating feature of the resort is the gravity coal-mining railway system that once traversed the entire length of the campground. Campsites are thoughtfully arranged along the remnants of this historic rail system, particularly in an area known as Gravity Lane. The trains would have passed by the Movie Lounge and meandered behind the Game Room, crossing over two impressive stone bridges that anchor both the Main Campground and the Trestle Area Campsites. The remnants of the past are evident in the stone dam, constructed in the 1800s to facilitate the movement of canal boats, which has been recently refurbished for structural integrity.
