We just added a new driveway connection to make it even easier to pull back onto the road!
This area has a very different climate than many other parts of Virginia. We are located in a Köppen Climate Classification Zone Cfb, which is a Temperate Oceanic Climate (or sometimes called Marine West Coast Climate). Yes, the Southwest Mountains of VA have a maritime climate! Think Coastal Alaska, Pacific Northwest, or British Columbia to get an idea of our climate. All of which means our summers are cooler (average of 83 in August) with low humidity, and our winters are milder. So this is a great place to escape the hot humid Virginia summers!
We experience four true seasons, and the colors in the fall season are some of prettiest on the East Coast and perfect for leaf peeping!
We have deer, wild turkey, bear, chipmunks, raccoons, wild rabbits, Whip-poor-wills, and opossums on the property. Plus, the fireflies at night can be beautiful!
Plus, we've yet to see a mosquito!
You will be the only camper on the property, my RV is on site and is used as guest quarters when I have company, but this is rare.
There is no cell phone coverage and limited strength wifi, so unplug and relax!
The Camping Site is part of our mountainside property located in Long Hollow and sits on the edge of 7 acres of pasture, which leads to 7 acres of White Pine Forest you are welcome to use for walking, wildlife viewing, dog walking, etc.. It is conveniently located less than 2/10s a mile from Rt. 16, and 5 miles from I-81.
Our neighbors are quiet but you may hear their donkey braying or chickens clucking. We ask that you do not disturb the neighbors or interact in any way with their animals. There is a Firepit and Picnic Table for your use.

Definitely a nice place to stay at. It is right next to a road but it's a dead end road that not many people drive. When we arrived the host was there to great us and help us pull in correctly. There was also some fire wood available which is awesome. Our dog was able to free roam the area that were camping. ( he is off leash trained so he stays near by). This is a big plus because at a normal campground we have to have him tied up. It's about 70-80 yards away from their house but they're are some bushes blocking the view so you aren't right next to anyone. The neighbors have a donkey and some other animals that make noise every once and a while. Not a big deal at all just something worth mentioning. Will definitely be back here on our adventures. We stayed here so we could hike grayson highlands state park. It's about 35 minutes away from the park. One other thing to note is the loop around is perfect so you don't have to back in. Thanks for your hospitality Janet! 5 out of 5 stars from us!
This is our third time staying here! Obviously, we like it! The full hook ups are an awesome amenity. There is space to spread out and places to walk the dogs. The spot is near the road but it is a dead end rural residential street so no issues with traffic noise. It’s a perfect spot for us to overnight on our way south, but last Fall we also spent a great 5 nights here exploring Southwest Virginia. We highly recommend this Hip Camp location.
Great little place. Super friendly host. All the comforts of an RV park without all the people!!
Everything was great. We were greeted and assisted with leveling and hookup upon arrival. The firewood was replenished before we completed hook-ups. The deer arrived just before dark and one greeted us at the firepit. We were greeted in the morning to check that everything was satisfactory. We could'nt have asked for a more professional experience. Thank you so much.
It was peaceful and loving the sounds from the nearby farm animals made it even more relaxing. The pine forest hike is worth the walk up the hill.
This was a great place to use as our base for exploring Southwest VA. The full hook up site was immaculate, and hosts were friendly and offered suggestions via texts or in person for places to visit. This was our second stay. The first time was for a convenient overnight on the way to Georgia. We made it point to come back, this time for a week, to explore and view the fall colors. You may hear the occasional donkey bray or rooster crow from the neighbors, but nothing annoying. The site is near the road, but it’s a dead end road and very lightly traveled by residents with an easy in and out with our trailer. The trail up the hill through the pines was nice to walk the dogs. We definitely want to stay here again.
Janet and her husband were super helpful and the site was great. It’s a beautiful area to stay at and love the delivery of the farm fresh eggs, a nice touch. A very nice place to stay if your in the area. Thank you for the hospitality!
Very helpful and welcoming hosts. We only stayed overnight and didn't need hook up but it was all right there and convenient to the rig. The wifi was good enough to do FB, text on messenger and research activities nearby. They have brochures available on the area and while we didn't take advantage of the hiking trails, the woods behind us were nice and thick. Quiet place overnight with a lovely rooster and donkey wake up call. It made us feel at home. Picnic table with fire ring and available dry wood was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend!

This was a beautiful secluded spot but only a few minutes from town and the parks and lakes we wanted to visit. We enjoyed our morning coffee with the neighboring roosters and donkey. Evenings spent by the firepit gazing at the clear, beautiful starlit sky were very relaxing and therapeutic. The drive-through loop was convenient, but was a little sharp turning into from the paved road with our travel trailer, but we made it okay. The full hookup was convenient to our camper with only a minor hiccup which the hosts were very responsive to and remedied immediately. We enjoyed our stay even though we didn't see a real live bear. Hosts are super-friendly and accommodating.
