Come relax in a 315 square foot canvas bell tent with all the comforts of home. With a queen bed, sofa, exclusive fire pit, hot water, AC/dehumidifier, shower, and a large cooler, there's not much left to be desired! The tent and lounge areas are protected from precipitation by a roof. Bring your furry friends for no extra charge, and come reconnect with nature on 23 acres of woods just 4 minutes from Stone Mountain State Park and a half hour from over two-dozen wineries! The tent sits on a two-tiered deck and offers the comforts of home in an outdoor setting. Guests are provided with linens and towels, heat and air conditioning, a wood stove and small charcoal BBQ, cookware, and a large cooler where groceries can be stored. With all of these features, it can be easy to forget that this experience is still fundamentally camping. Therefore, we do ask guests to properly secure food and waste items from wildlife that are very active throughout the area including black bear, coyotes, and bobcats. It is rare that any of our wild friends care to interact with humans, but it's better to be safe. Additionally, 4x4 or AWD vehicles are recommend for parking close to the camp site due to loose gravel and a grade, but alternative parking spots are available. The campsite is typically open year-round, but weather conditions are subject to requiring the water be shut off to the sink, shower, and toilet. This is only during winter months when temperatures are likely to cause our water lines to freeze and potentially burst. Water is still accessible at the campsite via a hydrant, however water will be turned off to the fixtures if temperatures dip below freezing. Our property consists of three rental options - two log cabins and the campsite. These three sites are situated on 23 acres located less than 5 minutes from the entrance to Stone Mountain State Park. Please review the attached images which shows an overhead view detailing the distance between the rentals. The Colonial glampsite is marked by the red X. Guests are welcome to explore the property, but we ask all guests to be respectful of each other as well as our resident chickens, which are difficult to miss in their barn-red house near the entrance of the driveway. Furry family members are most welcome - there are no additional fees - and some pet supplies are provided. Pets must be leashed when outside. This is for their safety, the safety of the wildlife, and that of other guest's pets. We do not live on-site but we are able to respond to messages or requests fairly quickly. Please reach out to us for any reason if necessary! ***Fall 2023 Update - As we enter into cooler months, stink bugs began searching for warm environments to live in. We do our best to mitigate against them including hiring pest control and collecting them when they make it inside. However, there is no full-proof insecticide that is successful at preventing them, and they have no natural predators; and unfortunately, they thrive in forest environments like the one where we are located. Please review these circumstances prior to booking your stay. ***

Babbling Brook Campground

10 sites 路 Lodging, Tents10 acres 路 Moravian Falls, NC
Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms

13 sites 路 RVs, Tents150 acres 路 Yadkinville, NC
Update: Two new nicely wooded sites with pond view are now available to provide easy access even during periods of heavy rain. If the creek area floods, we will move your reservation there. :) Pitch your tent, van or popup on or near the bank of our creek or pond with lots of shade and complete privacy. You can drive right up to most sites, weather permitting. You will have access to a fire ring and picnic table (located at each site), firewood for sale on site (please do not bring firewood from off-site), clean drinking water (located near the pond), the creek to explore, our pond to fish, and wooded trails to hike. Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 150+ acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges. ;) Our cows, pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, and chickens are all eager to meet you, as are we! We currently have fresh eggs, pork and beef for sale on site and will soon add fresh organically raised vegetables and herbs in season. Like us on Facebook (Harmon Creek Farms of NC) for the latest on what's going on here at the farm. :)

The best camping near Stone Mountain State Park guide

Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, Stone Mountain State Park is named for the 600-foot granite dome that rises from a valley to create the centerpiece of this outdoor hot spot. Rock climbers scale the towering landmark and look down on Hutchinson Homestead, a restored, 19th-century mountain farm that hosts ranger-led tours. You can also explore the park鈥檚 13,747 rugged acres by hiking its 16 miles of trails that wind through quiet forests abundant with wildlife, or by fly-fishing in more than 17 miles of designated trout waters. Stone Mountain鈥檚 cascading waterfalls and brisk mountain streams are perfect for cooling off afterward. A single campground offers 90 sites for tents and RVs, while six permitted backpacking sites lie along Widow's Creek Trail.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Booking in advance is recommended and can be easily done online or by phone up to 11 months in advance.
  2. While reservations are encouraged, any site not reserved is available on a first-come, first-served basis.聽
  3. If you have a reservation but can鈥檛 arrive by park closing hours on your scheduled arrival date, you must contact the park by 3 pm the next day to reschedule your arrival.
  4. If the campsite is full, you can try Doughton Park about a 30-minute drive away.

When to go

Stone Mountain State Park is open year-round and at its busiest during summer, which is the best time for hiking and educational programming. If visiting in the summer months, it鈥檚 a good idea to make reservations and arrive early, especially on weekends. If planning to go rock climbing on Stone Mountain, you may want to avoid the hottest months.

Know before you go

  • You鈥檒l need a permit and to register with park staff before doing any rock climbing on the face of Stone Mountain.
  • Pets are allowed in the park (except in buildings and swim areas), but must be on a leash no longer than six feet and cannot be left unattended.
  • Backcountry camping is only allowed at the designated backpacking sites on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping here is limited to four people per site.聽
