Floating Away from Reality at La Fo

10/10 would park the teardrop here again, mostly because dragging myself away from the South Fork of the New River required physical force. La Fondarosa is prime riverside real estate for anyone whose ideal vacation involves heavy doses of fishing, kayaking, or floating downstream pretending adult responsibilities don't exist. It’s a spot so good I almost want to gatekeep it, but I'll just say this: bring a kayak, bring a tube, and prepare to leave with a sunburn, sore cheeks from laughing, and a profound reluctance to ever return to the grid.

Riverside Primitive Campsite
William’s property had a nice concrete pad for my RV which faced the river. It’s a pretty spot and quiet. There is some road traffic on the gravel road behind you but none at night.
Great spot on the New River with Kayaking and Tube rental right down the road. Site is right off a gravel road and has a concrete pad that worked well for setting up my small camper. While the site is on the river the bank down to the river is fairly steep. There is however a little creek that runs beside the site that you can easily walk down to access the river.

Riverside Primitive Campsite
Great portion of the new river. Really enjoyed tubing down this section with my friends. Nice river bed and shallow spots to set up a camping chair right on the water. Caught a couple smallmouth bass right infront of the campsite so thats a plus. Site was clear and well maintained. There's a place right up the road to rent tubes or kayaks if you dont have any. Great get away place, would visit again.
Perfect in so many ways and very peaceful! We have been to this area of the New River many times and so glad we found this spot!! It was perfect for us kayaking right up to our campsite. The campsite is about an acre of a private lot which adjoins two other private lots. We didnt see a single person the four days we were there. There is a little stream that went down for easy access to the river which had a sandy area and shallow water, but still enough to ride our kayaks in without having to walk them in. It would also be a great place for kiddos due the little sand area, shallow water, and minimal current. We fished, but didn't catch anything(maybe next time). There is a kayaking/tubing outfitters not far away. They came and picked us up so we were able to shuttle to our drop in location and paddle right to our site! I will say there is not a bathroom/potty area, but we had a privacy tent we used with our own toilet. We will definitely be going back!!!
Nice little spot right next to the river. It has its own little creek to walk 20’ to the river versus climbing down the bank. Comms with the host were great.
I would say this site is remote meaning it is not super close to a town or highway. I would also say this site is not private, meaning you will likely be in close proximity to other campers either at the same site or at the several adjacent camp sites. Adds to the fun, but if you like privacy this spot probably isn’t for you.

Riverside Primitive Campsite
Campsite was east to get into and ready to set up camp. Being on the river was great and we had plenty of space for everything we needed. We will definitely be back.
