SITE SPECIFICS:

This tipi is located in the perfect spot for taking in the surrounding views and even better sunsets. The rocks nearby are great for climbing and photography. The Value in this listing is that you are right outside the park boundary. Go on a different adventure everyday exploring inside the park or blm trails. There is something for everyone of all ages and physical abilities. This is an empty space with a dirt floor.

This tipi comfortably sleeps 6 people. This listing is an open top, dirt floor shelter only priced about $12 more than a regular empty tent/rv pad where you can set up your own tent. You will need to bring your own sleeping bags appropriate for the weather.

WHAT TO EXPECT: There are several hiking trails in the area as well as bicycling & 4 wheel drive trails on BLM (public land). This IS the Wild, Rustic, Dirty Desert, not for Everyone.  This is Camping and keep in mind this is a rugged camping experience not for the faint at heart. The desert is Hot in the summer and cold in the winter, the weather is Unpredictable and you May experience our Wild storms...Monsoon season runs from July-August which is amazing if you are into photography. Be sure to bring proper gear for the rain (if we get any). You may hear coyotes, see spiders, experience the annoying desert gnats at certain times of the day during the hotter summer season. You will want to bring bug spray, but if you forgot we do sell it in our camp store. If you stay with us you will get the experience of desert camping, wild, raw and rugged. It is an amazing experience to be had, with beautiful views and the feeling of freedom that is hard to find in more civilized and populated locations. The rocks nearby are kid friendly, great for climbing and taking amazing photos of our fantastic views and gorgeous sunsets.

BATHHOUSE: There is a Bathhouse with Showers and Flush Toilets. Showers are with a Token and must be purchased during store hours. The bathhouse is shared with other campers and gets dirty. We are surrounded by red dirt. Toilets get clogged, this happens in public bathrooms. It is cleaned everyday. The bathhouse is operational while under construction.

Place was amazing. We had the tipi further from the wall and I think that was better. Bathrooms could use improvement but hey, this is camping. Ask about the hidden campsite.

We really enjoyed our stay at Needles Outpost. The Tipi provided great rest after exploring the National Parks in the area. Feels luxurious if you're used to tent camping!

Highly recommend Needles Outpost! Such a beautiful drive into Canyonlands from Monticello and it’s a few minutes drive to the Needles Canyonlands Visitor center. We really loved how close it was to the southern part of Canyonlands National Park. Be sure to check out Cave Springs Trail (a short hike with two climbing ladders and amazing views). Needles Outpost’s grounds are just breathtaking and we enjoyed hiking around the property here as well. Amber is so sweet and we really enjoyed chatting with her and exploring around her darling little store. Lots of snacks, goodies, necessities, and local goods available. The closest “store” I think must be at least an hour away, so we appreciated being able to pick up any extras we may have needed. The campsite and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. We love staying at Hipcamp’s like Needles Outpost, where you can tell the owners pour their hearts into the land and customers! Thank you Amber!

I had an awesome experience at Needles Outpost Campsite, and I highly recommend stopping by and camping here if you are trying to visit Canyonlands National Park. We had a great stay at one of the Tipi sites and the hosts were completely accommodating and helpful with everything. Thanks again Amber!

Overall, great experience. Beautiful location. We did feel that $10 a gallon for gas was a bit much even considering the remote location. The tarp and rug were full of dirt and we felt like more care could’ve been given to the tipi prior to our arrival. But, The host was very nice!

Directions were unclear and we were not given any help till 10 minutes before our check in time. We weren't even able to stay at the campground and ended up sleeping in our car in Canyonland. Wouldn't recommend.

Quiet, clean, well-run camp. Amber’s team has things running smoothly, and the store has pretty much anything you might need (including gas). Instructions and rules are clear, and Amber and Caleb are very friendly and helpful. The bathhouse was clean and shower temperature was perfect! Loved that you could turn the water off while lathering to save your five minutes. The sunsets were incredible from the campsite, and you could see so many stars. Absolutely gorgeous. If you are concerned about insects or other little friends coming into the teepee at night I’d recommend setting up your tent for use of the screens.
