Joe purchased this property in 2008. At that time it was 8 acres it is currently now at 20 acres continuous property. The ranch is situated 2 miles off the highway on the edge of the vast national forest, areas this gives you a feeling of being in the wilderness. The south and east sides are boarded by canyons and ruins. All other properties in the area or 10 acres or more so are well spread out and sparsely populated. All the structures on site were brought here piece by piece and were salvaged from construction projects in Yosemite and Grand Canyon national parks. Water is manually hauled in so please be conscious of water use.

Joe is very friendly and he made sure that we will have a nice and comfortable night. The place is really awesome plus the sunset is incredibly extraordinary and the nightsky is pretty entertaining because of the amount of start that you can see. Definitely will comeback next time i visit Utah

The Slabs, Primitive Camping
Pretty hot and windy the day we set up. Windy conditions along with a lot of dust made it difficult to set up and enjoy the camp. Would be a good place to camp in cooler less windy conditions. Host was great and accommodating.

Great spot, dog friendly!
Joe’s place was great! Plenty of open space for us and the dog to roam, very quiet, truly feels like and escape from the world. It also has wonderful fire pits, shared kitchen space and Wi-Fi. Joe is also very friendly, so are river and bear his dogs and informative on the area. I would highly recommend it and look forward to staying again when I’m in that neck of the woods! Plus if you’re lucky maybe you’ll get some delicious eggs from his hens!

Relaxing, Chill, Good Reset
Indian Feather Camper was a great experience. His outdoor kitchen is well equipped with cutlery, pots, pans, stove, ect. The outhouse was clean. Also, impressive how eco friendly and the amount of work Joe has put into the property. The camper was well decorated and I would def. go back in the summer time for a girls trip.

Indian Feather Camper
Only for those with 4WD
Dont bother booking unless you have 4WD. Host did not send us any instructions or directions prior to our trip, and it is very difficult to find the place in the dark using the google map image that he includes on his listing as his "directions." Got stuck in the mud of his "driveway" and just about scraped the oil pan off the rental car getting to the site. Was informed when we arrived that water had been shut off since it had been getting down to freezing at night, so couldnt use the solar shower. The communal kitchen area was covered in InfoWars bumper stickers and other assorted conspiracy theory nonsense, so I certainly didnt feel welcome there. The property itself is wildly beautiful and the trailer is cute, but I would recommend staying at one of the many other off-grid/glamping hipcamps close by.

Indian Canyon Ranch is the place to be! Quiet, no light pollution, amazing hiking, lakes close by, and so much more. I planned a trip for my husbands birthday, we both loved it soooo much we are planning trips down there for next year! Beyond beautiful place! Joe is amazing and very helpful! He cares for his place very dearly and wants all his guests to have an experience of a lifetime! I can’t wait for next year to be here, I miss being at Indian Canyon Ranch! Thank you Joe, for being the best host!

Love this cute camper!
The Indian Feather Camper is a pleasant stay in a cozy little camper. We had a short visit, but enjoyed our time at this camp. The camp trailer is really cute inside and out. There is a bed and the table also converts to a bed. There is also running water inside which I thought was a really nice amenity. The host also provides towels and extra bedding. Your host, Joe, is super nice and friendly. He showed us around the property and even recommended a nearby hike. If you'd like to spend a day at the lake, he will give you recommendations as well. Joe has built this campground from reused parts and pieces from Yosemite and The Grand Canyon. It's really interesting to hear some of his stories and it's nice to see a host reducing waste a recycling old building parts and such. There is an outhouse on property along with a shower house and community kitchen area. You have access to Wifi, running water, camp stoves, a fire pit, and outhouse facilities. There are more camp trailers around the property besides this camper, so you may have neighbors, but everything feels private. If you have a low clearance vehicle, you may want to check with the host before arriving. We came after there had been some strong rain and the road was pretty bumpy in spots. We were in a 4x4, so it wasn't a problem. Thanks Joe!

Beam’s Camp, Primitive Camping
Joe was a super nice guy. We should have known better than try to camp in a primitive site without getting more information. We almost didn’t get in or out. The roads are absolutely horrible for a couple miles. You need 4wd and very high clearance. If you want electric you can park next to Joes house to plug into solar- nice of him to offer but we opted not to.. We hiked about 15 minutes to some ruins nearby. His dogs are very friendly.

A Great Setup Overall
I’d say I have mixed feelings about the campsite - for a little bit more you could stay at one of Joe’s structures and I think have a more enjoyable time. I think the lounge setup/ community kitchen area is nice, as is the shower! There is wifi, it took a bit to start up and was slow, but to have wifi in general out there is a nice touch. The road in is very rough, which Joe mentions. His directions are spot on, and he and the pups were there to greet as well. If I stayed again, it would be in one of the trailers for sure.

We were the only guests the night of our stay. Joe met us at arrival and showed us to camp. Kitchen was equipped with all the cookware we needed and the outhouse/shower house were clean and close to camp. Although a ways off the main road, from IRC it was a short drive to the Needles area of Canyonlands and not far from Moab and Arches. Would recommend for those looking to explore this part of Utah!

Beam’s Camp, Primitive Camping
Low cost place to camp for 1 night
Arrived late and it wasn't clear where the bathrooms were. Our stay was mostly about a low cost place to stay the night so not a major issue. But I would not have booked it if I knew there would not at least be an outhouse. I realize that we arrived late and left before we met the hosts so it's possible there was one and we just couldn't find it. But for future campers it would be good to make a sign so people can easily locate the biff on there own.

Loved it l!
We loved camping here! It’s such a beautiful area and Joe is an awesome host. All 4 of us that stayed definitively plan on coming back. There’s a nice kitchen area set up with a sink and propane stove. The composting outhouse and shower were clean and well built. Follow his written instructions on the way in and you’ll have no problem finding the place.

Super fun little camper in an otherwise awesome space that Joe has created. We loved the view of the stars at night. The community kitchen was perfect for the coffee we brought and I loved the outdoor shower with a view. Joe was super helpful especially when we arrived late and had a little trouble finding it. I would definitely recommend coming during the daylight at least the first night!

Look no further you found it!
You want to feel in touch with nature, be in a central location to awesome sites but not in a busy area, and want to fulfill your wanderlust vibes? Well look no further you have found it! No pitching your own tent in the dark here and accidentally hammering your toe. Joe T has your spot up and ready for your arrival. Carefully lit path to guide you at night. Don’t even get me started on the view…. You might want to skip the touristy sites and just explore here. Don’t get me started on the amazing canyon and night sky because I could write about that for days!

Joe was an amazing host! The camper was just what we needed after night is tent camping. We only used the sink in the kitchen area but he had everything you could need! He built a great fire that us and the other campers that night gathered around for some beverages and great convo. Highly recommend and pay close attention to his directions!

The Best Ever
Joe is an absolute gentleman and scholar. He took great care of us while we camped for one night under the beautiful Utah night sky. Two words to describe the experience: complete serenity. All of this notion thanks to Joe. He even maybe offered us spaghetti. We actually do not fully know if he was offering. He just mentioned that he was cooking pasta with a red sauce. Something tells me that if I displayed my hunger, he would've been happy to feed us. The instructions to arrive via backroads were nothing short of precise. Go Joe, and think no Mo.

Overall a really good place to stay for the money and I can’t recommend it enough!

Perfect Camping Getaway
My friend and I loved staying at this campsite! Joe was very friendly, generous, and helpful. While we were there, we met some other campers too - you would’ve thought they all had known Joe for years by their laughter and stories. Though the campsite is pretty far from the main roads, Joe’s directions were spot on. In hindsight, we would’ve rented a car that could handle off-roading a bit better but our Honda Civic made it just fine. I highly recommend this campsite!
