Indian Canyon Ranch is a rugged, isolated, off grid property which focuses on enjoying the outdoor beauty of our little corner of the spectacular American South West. Please be advised, that during heavy rain four-wheel drive may be necessary but in all cases low clearance vehicles are not ideal on the last section of road but if you arrive before dark and go slow any vehicle can make it. If you arrive after dark the last bit of road looks more challenging than it actually is due to shadows on the surface caused by the head lights. Units are not heated. Please plan to show up before dark for the best experience and ease of finding the location. Indian Canyon Ranch is proud to be an independent, off grid property with limited solar power and water available. There are no RV hook ups available but there is limited solar power in the rental units and in the communal area but not in the primitive campsites. Campsites are primitive camping only. Showers in the main communal area are solar powered and only hot with the sun and for an hour or so after sunset Joe purchased this property in 2008. At that time, it was 8 acres, and it is now at 20 acres continuous property. The ranch is situated 2 miles off the highway down a bumpy dirt road on the edge of the national forest, this gives you a feeling of being in the wilderness. The south and east sides are boarded by canyons and ruins. All other private properties in the area are 10 acres or more so are well spread out and sparsely populated. All the structures on site were brought here piece by piece and were salvaged from construction projects in Yosemite and Grand Canyon national parks. Water is manually hauled in and the power in the kitchen area is solar generated so please be conscious of water and power use.

Beam’s Camp, Primitive Camping

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 30 ft
Please be advised that during heavy rain, four-wheel-drive may be necessary. Beams Camp is dedicated to primitive camping for those who have their own gear. Fire pit and firewood are available and FREE onsite. Showers, some power, kitchen, potable water and WIFI are available in the main communal site area which is a five minute walk. THERE ARE NO HOOK UPS, (WATER, POWER OR SEWER) AT YOUR SITE. Showers in the main communal area are solar powered and only hot with the sun and for an hour or so after sunset Soon after you pass Indian Canyon the road gets bumpy for about 30 yards. Generally if you stay all the way to the west, towards the mountains it’s easiest. Or pick an easy route down the center of the road. High clearance recommended but skilled drivers can negotiate the route without much effort.

It is recommended to bring an all wheel drive or 4x4 vehicle, or at least front wheel-drive prepared with snow chains. If you get stuck we cannot help. Please know where your tow hook is located to be properly prepared. *DIRT road conditions may be bumpy. DRIVE SLOW and AVOID 'high centers'. If muddy from rain or snow, AVOID puddles & KEEP MOVING! And always plan to show up before dark to avoid confusion, Other things to note Indian Canyon Ranch is a Nest In Harmony promoted location, we value natural living and alternative living styles and featuring different living structures for off-grid lifestyles. With our guidance for the best experience for guests, owner of Indian Canyon Ranch, Joe, lived and worked in Yosemite & Grand Canyon National Park as project manager and not wanting the used materials to be wasted in the landfill, Joe captured the opportunity to create an off-grid retreat when he bought the first 10 acres of Indian Canyon Ranch which is now 20 acres total He took years to collect and build this off-grid retreat, piece by piece, up-cycling construction debris. Now Joe lives off-grid full-time and is sharing in the experience. Joe will be able to answer some of your questions or give you advice on the area and other natural wonders in the region including local Indian ruins, or a great place to swim, or go off-roading :)

That “70s” Van

Van/bus · Sleeps 4
Please be advised that during heavy rain four-wheel-drive may be necessary . Your van comes with a comfy bed, lights and USB ports to charge your devices. You have your own private Grove with a fire pit table and chairs, secluded yet still close to the central area where the kitchen and bathrooms are located parking directly in front of your unit makes it easy to load and unload. The bed sleeps two people. If you have more than two people, you may set up a tent directly outside the van in a perfectly flat location without rocks. Guitar pictured in the photos is available upon request. Soon after you pass Indian Canyon the road gets bumpy for about 30 yards. Generally if you stay all the way to the west, towards the mountains it’s easiest. Or pick an easy route down the center of the road. High clearance recommended but skilled drivers can negotiate the route without much effort. At this point you will probably be greeted by three dogs, Roxy, River and Cortez. Roxy is the black and white collie, River’s, the big guy. Don’t let them distract you’re driving just keep going, they know what they’re doing though they may seem obnoxious. Roxy and Cortez are puppies, and are still learning.
